- Is the all-new 2025 Infiniti QX80 better than the proven Lexus LX 600? Automotive Engineer David Chao thinks so, and therefore provides 7 specific reasons why he loves the QX when compared to the LX. Find out all of the details of the new 2025 QX and why David fell in love with it, even when compared to many other competitive body-on-frame luxury SUVs.

Can you review the Amada Pro-4x when you get a chance? Thanks.
same here cant wait to see the pro -4x aka Nissan patrol
Maybe in January 2025
@@tontolinification yes hope it is not over priced 3 row luxury family school bus like the sequoia TRD PRO
The biggest hurdle for Infiniti right now is brand perception. Word needs to spread about the exceptional build quality.
The only reason the old QX80 had bad resale value was because it was so similar to the Armada.
Now, with the new Armada that has been revealed, I don’t think this will be the case anymore.
What exceptional quality are you talking about? maybe about the hard plastic seats?) and the previous generation rusted very quickly
@@Alpharius__OmegonBUT NO PROBLEMS ON ENGINE OR TANSMISSION, AND THAT'S A BIG ONE.
COMPARE TO CADILLAC, GMC, CHEVROLET, FORD, JEEP THAT WON'T LAST 100,000 MILES WITHOUT MAJOR ISSUE.
LIKE AC/TRANSMISSION/ENGINE/ ELECTRICAL.
I was waiting on a Lexus lover like myself to weigh in and compare these two. You just helped me confirm what I was thinking and got Infiniti a sale.
I was interested too but I love the short wheel base of the GX550, that pro4x looks really good too. Japan is putting out good stuff as usual.
I trust Nissan with turbochargers on six cylinder engines more than Toyota.
The engine in this new QX80 is related to the TTV6 in the R35 GT-R
by far this destroys the LX i bet lexus come back real hard with their next gen LX
The Lexus LX will come out with a 2026 model with a new exterior and interior facelift, so the new LX600 will be released in 2025.
They released the new generation couple of years ago, so dont expect a new one till 2030 mate
the facelift is already shown to have the same in-exterior, but it will be hybrid like the sequoia. major changes with lexus expect it in 9-12 years
I will take this over LX600. The LX is just not as desirable as the old 570.
I love how Nissan/Infiniti flexed on the QX80/Patrol/Armada to show they still have the ability to build solid products. We all know their budget is way less than Toyotas, and I can see some minor areas where they could take things a little further, but overall I agree they built a much better body-on-frame luxury cruiser. And despite the shock of it crossing into 6-figures territory, it is still the value option of the class. Good job Infiniti. I hope these fly off lots.
Part of that is because Nissan itself spends a higher percentage of their revenue on R&D and they save billion in R&D because of the alliance with Renault as they share platforms and common parts.
With how broke Nissan is, I’m surprised the QX80 and new Armada look as good as they do.
Great video David!
Love body in frame 0:35
Thank you, appreciate your honest review! I fell in love with this Japanese SUV right away when I saw this beautiful large SUV at the 2024 Toronto Auto Show! it was the pinnacle of the show, although all the doors were closed and you could not see the interior of the car due to thick dark tint!
Does the Infinity have a flat floor for the 2nd row footwell? The LX600 has a huge hump, which really puts me off as it adds to the already cramped feeling.
Great video sir. I really like the QX80.
Yes , looks great…
I agree with you, yes it is better than the Lexus.
I do both love Nissan patrol and Land Cruiser especially their luxury versions
Who in god's name buys a $100k+ "luxury" SUV new?.....Wait 2 to 3 years and get it for 40-60% less!
not Lexus or even Infinity, only US vehicles LOL
I'm with you on that!! 😂
@@julyzerg1 Hey, Boss, you know that Cadillacs and all other American-made SUVs, small, mid-size, or large, have a very low resale value compared to Lexus or maybe to this new QX80 generation! Its a fact!
People buy escalades all the time
@@zaheeralghul2509 That's the main reason why one should wait two or three years to buy an Escalade since used ones are so easy to find, because people buy them all the time. You can have a great price for a two or three year old Escalade.
Why is Lexus and Infiniti doing away with the ultra-reliable V-8s? Is it an EPA thing?
Yes, emissions
@@hss8973 Thanks.
Emissions.
@@faheemabbas3965 thanks
Great review on the QX-80. Presently, I have the 2023 Nissan Armada and I was looking at trading it for the NEW V6 Armada. I hope that it have the same quality as the QX-80. Again, great review and, I will be looking at the NEW 2025 Nissan Armada.
I just bought a new 2023 4x4 Armada SL and would not trade it
for the new QX 80. No V8= no deal.
Lexus LX600 for me. I am not one for that type of screen layout in front of me interior wise.
I really love ❤ both the Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX designs. And nothing beats TOYOTA reliability, resale values and heritage.
That said, great effort from Nissan with this Infinity. Looks great and the interior packaging is spot on. This new QX design will unfortunately not age well. Cars that look too generic and over designed don't normally age well.
In 5 years every truck will go to a 2 cylinder 8-turbos to save money, bring back the 8 cylinder!
Toyota has really stepped on doo doo by going for the all this turbo crap. They had avoided it all these years and then gave in to the Feds, very bad move.
I guess Jacki Chan got tired of acting career.. still looking good 😜
Possibly the most beautiful SUV.
The second you said turbo I stopped watching
Well then, in a few more years you will either be riding a bicycle or walking because large displacement normally aspirated engines will be gone.
Lol you have nothing to worry about, Nissan has been making reliable turbo engines for decades. My 2006 Patrol is still on its original Hitachi turbo.
I hate the new look of the Lexus
💯Percent Gorgeous Interior! 😍 I know the Kia EV9 is a different category but I really like this EV. However, I will never consider this vehicle because the interior is hideous! Kia ruined their best electric vehicle. It’s a shame. Nissan demonstrates class and glamour with this interior design.
Thank you for your explanation you can show a video of toruren R vw 2025
You mean Touareg?
Touareg hasn’t been sold in North America for some time.
Garbage
David, do you think it was a big mistake to go with a twin turbo seeing all the issues with Toyota's twin turbos. I fear for longevity and reliability, especially after the warranty expires. Especially on a 100k plus purchase. I have a QX60 2023 Sensory and love it. Was sad to see Infiniti drop the six in that model. Was hoping they keep the 5.6 V8.
As someone who loves the Lexus brand, i must admit that i was not impressed with my 24 LX600 F-Sport. It was too small for a fullsize (knew that going in), and for a vehicle that was priced around $115k it didn't offer the amenities my 24 fullsize Range Rover.
I ended up trading my 24 Lexus for a 25 BMW X7 M60i after owning the lexus for less than 5 months.
I have always loved Nissan/Infiniti . I owned a 87 Maxima and still have 2012 G37sx. I went to dealership to look at it, and the only had the sensory trim. I want it loaded. Currently drive a VW Arteon SEL Premium R and not getting rid of it. Way to come back Infiniti
I'm glad to see Nissan/Infiniti make such a great vehicle. Watching them flounder for the last 25 yrs or so has been painful. I took a risk and bought a gorgeous black '18 Q50RS a little over 5 yrs ago and while it was a great car in some ways, it was ultimately a let-down because it just wasn't as good as it could have been. So much potential but poor execution. It was mostly disappointing because I knew Nissan could have done better with it. I spent many hours at the Infiniti dealership thanks to the multiple issues I had with the car over a 3 yr period, and it led me to conclude Infiniti needed a lot of help if they were going to survive. None of their cars felt "special" in any way, just slightly nicer versions of their Nissan counterparts. It seems the new QX80 is a home run, and I hope it foreshadows things to come. They are the underdog. Here's hoping this turns into a comeback story.
Another truly informative analysis with relevant insights. Thanks for sharing your unbiased insights and opinions. I’m leaning towards the new Armada due to price point reality.
Do they come with massaging seats?
Yes! In the Autograph version seen in the video, both front and rear are massaging with heated seats in the 3rd row
The new offering is nice, but I’m a Toyota/Honda customer.
Without a doubt the new QX80 is top notch! The new Infiniti and Nissan SUV's are a class above.
I usually like Lexus but compared to this I think this look better
I usually like Lexus but compared to this I think this look better
The base QX is virtually the same price as the luxury plus trim GX550. Great job by Infiniti!
David, the picture of the car you describe as the old LX570, is actually the new LX.
I really hope Lexus can hire an interior designer from Infiniti or Genesis to spice up their next-gen vehicles. We need some more tech inside them.
This is a beautiful trunk!! I still own my 2004 G35 and still love it
BOTH LEXUS AND INFINITY GOOD 👍👍👍 GOOD CARS NICE NICE 💯💯💯💯🙂
Infinity is killing Lexus in every way! Congratulations Infinity.
Infinite is amazing but in armada should be more offoader in size it became taho size if u get what i mean
I hope you can review Amada Pro-4x as well in the near future :)
Impressive car. The interior is way better than Lexus' LX.
those cameras would be very useful off road. for the 2nd, or 3rd owner.
the front end looks so feminine.... why nissan why!
Whatever. I’ll wait until the actual numbers come in.
So the verdict? What is the better value? Old or new QX?
Do you are the one reviewer who loves this thing!
Really good looking truck, nice improvements, Wait a few years they will be on sale for $25k all over FB.
Yeah a few yrs meaning next gen? 😂
It is not bigger than my 2023 Armada. Same wheelbase = 121”
Overall length = 211” QX 80
= 210 Armada
Yea, that was the one area he wasn't right on. Length and wheelbase haven't changed much, BUT it did get ~3" wider and they optimized the interior to get more space. So it is more spacious inside than the last gen despite being relatively the same size outside.
Nice but priced too high
A car this size must have a V8, preferably like the Mercedes 4.0
Emissions.
We get what we vote for…
QX55 needs a massive interior redesign
Yup Infiniti is coming back
The best car reviewer … thank u
Interesting conclusions. 24:28
I'd still take a GX550 over this.
I wouldn't and I've been a Tundra owner for years. Toyota is sliding.
it´s time to buy one 😆
Enormous 😮
Very nice suv
I love. Q. 80.
As a PhD in Computer Engineering and my wife (who is about to defend her PhD thesis on magnetic resonance this week: 9 AM--9/26/2024), we are finished acquiring the latest cars with the latest technology. We are content with our four forever cars: a 2021 Silver AWD Lexus LS 500 (wife's daily driver), a 2020 Army green 4Runner TRD PRO (long-distance trips with the dogs), a 2016 3" lifted blue-pearl double cab TRD Sport Tacoma with a 6' bed with over-sized K02's 4x4 tires (my daily driver) with a custom "barbed-wired" black-colored headache rack, and our emerald-green 2013 MR2 Convertible (1/2-1 day trips---you can't fit much luggage or souvenirs in a 2 seater). We are a Toyota family for three reasons: their cars are reliable, have no-frills technology, and have excellent resale value. We thought about acquiring another vehicle but owning five cars is overdoing it. We would rather invest in more real estate for generational wealth. Excellent insight into a 2025 QX80...
❤
I would like to see your review of the new 2025 Lincoln Navigator
VR35DDTT same engine as GTR RE5
No
Why is the grill so small?😂the headlights are quite large?😂
LX 600 for me.
Buy 2025 all new plant in Japan uncle is now here. Thanks. better overall vehicle. Buy instead of Lexus. 12:25
Infiniti are nice, but damn, the depreciation is crazy and they don’t hold their value. I’ll never buy another Infiniti again.
Another L for Toyota and Lexus. Shame.
Nissan NO BUY!!!!!!! going out of business.. cvt
This one uses a traditional auto trans. I see them overtaking Toyota on quality. They basically booted the French Renault involvement so quality is rising. Don't write their OBIT quite yet.
like it ......... we will see with the V6, wish it came in a 2 row
Wish it had a full chrome grill.
I really don’t like the interior of that car. It’s all over blowing and in your face whereas the Lexus is much more conservative and nice.
No hybrid or PHEV?! No sale! Next.
The only problem is, one day you will wake up and realize that you’re driving a $100,000 Nissan…
Have you heard about Nissan GTR and it’s price lol
@@gabrielgabor7747he wish he own a Nissan GTR in his next life lol 😂
Bro has never heard of the R35 GT-R
It's a Nissan, so don't love it.
It’s a Japanese Nissan, not French cost cutting Renault Nissan
This is a heavy duty Nissan, not a CVT Nissan.
Just slam the rear doors and tell me? As an engineer this immediately should give u a pause. It’s a Nissan sir. Worlds crappiest cars
Their cars and body on frame suvs don’t compare. You’re thinking of little sentras and altimas with a crappy cvt. Those cars are awful. Body on frame Nissan/infiniti suvs are a whole lot more reliable than their cars and over the American brands because they’re made in Japan with quality. Look at all the lifter issues with gm, and timing chain issues in all eco boost v6s.
Door slams can definitely give a great feeling when they sound solid, but it's more a perceived quality thing than indicating actual build quality. A cheaply built car can be engineered to have a solid sounding door slam.
Exactly I agree! I have owned all American brands and while the door slam does sound better. I can tell you from experience the motors and over all quality is not better than the Asian brands I’ve owned.
While you are reviewing the same brands, the world is being introduced with all the china made EV and ICE vehicles that blows all existing competition with quality and interior accessories/electronics.
You assume increasing demand for EV’s in North America.
You also assume that people are willing to buy an unfamiliar brand with very limited dealer or service network in place.
Ppl are buying them in droves and have the support with ample 4S centers and 6 months stock of all spare parts big and small, plus the vehicles are 50% cheaper. Like any westerner, ethnocentric about the world.
I'll take your point - so where can I buy one and get service if I live in Chicago?
I will not support communist CCP businesses. They aren't our friends.
Love that car, BUT no more twin turbos for me. MPGs are HORRIBLE, worse than the V8s. Personally I'm all in with EVs, Tesla to be specific!
Maybe one day Tesla will have a full sized SUV.
You like aluminum refrigerators ok thanks for clearing that up.
So you’d rather drive an EV over a turbo four-banger in a Suburban HyperFamilyTank?
@@faheemabbas3965 Did you ever drive a Model S? You bet I would, any and every day😄
@@Karlkn I’ve never driven a garbage can either nor would I want to.
Truth be told, I own the 2015-17 version of the QX80 and it's the best before this 2025 model debuted. The other version in-between mine and this 2025 were boring. Nobody really bought them Trust me, to this day, I have several people on the street ask me about my version of the QX EVERYDAY.
You wouldnt believe it even if you were there with me to witness it. It is a unique and rare look to the SUV that still looks current in 2025...and where I live, I have seen many people go back and buy them used because they have PRESENCE! And the 2025 is the true successor to that model
yeah i actually agree with that. the 2015-2017 versions of the QX, especially with that Limited trim was SSEEEEEXXXYYYY. the 18-24 models were very lazy and did nothing to separate from the Armada
