- Ultimate Seafury Video! Hawker Seafury FB.11 at the Flugplatzfest Albstadt-Degerfeld 2018. Aircraft has a Wright R2800 with 2400hp.
Had a R3350 before, but switched to the 2800 because of economic and reliability reasons.
Pilot, Bruno Ducreux, did a fantastic job flying this beast.
Also, thanks for letting me sit in the fury for a few minutes.
Great Guy!
Also, special thanks to Guido Voss for allowing me to film in and around the flightline.

In 1953 I was USAF - Radio Operator - I was on a Island close to North Korea with a British or Aussie { cant remember which 90 yrs old } Air Craft carrier stationed between us and the mainland -- Got a call from the carrier that one of their Seafurys had landed on our beach and could we guard it untill they could transport it back to the carrier - You are familiar with the Seafury so you will appreciate the following - Our beach was flat but on a curve - We got down to the beach and there was the pilot sitting on the wing' - He had DEAD STICKED The Seafury on a curved beach ! We got to him and like a Hollywood Movie He Said :Hello Chaps - Got any Beer at your place -- WOW - - They had to take off the wings to put it on a barge back to the carrier - Did We Have a party with Him and the boat crew --! - -Fantastic Aircraft = Fantastic Pilot Who looked like He was about 17 years old - God Bless Us All
Thanks Ivan, in some ways I envy your experience with those days.
I sent a reply to You ? Got lost ? Sorry - In my 91 years - I wonder if this event was real - Fiction? No it was real - Add to Story , I hesitate to say it - Right after landing a "fog bank" covered the beach - Fog - Crash in sea - Timing - - One of many war stories Thankyou for your interest@@normanrussell5526
People say that the merlin is the best sounding engine from ww2, and sure it sounds fantastic, but that radial is something else. The raw power is just so earth shaking it makes you want to cry.
to me the Bristol Centarus is to the American Radials as the Rolls Royce Griffon was to the Merlin All Balls and Hairy Chest. 😁😁
Bristol Hercules in the Beaufighter is my choice of radial engines.
This one didn't use the cyclone. Sounded great though
@@mack1541 Read the heading dummy !!! ! The British engine went away and was replaced with the AMERICAN P R2800 so they can fly it !!!
@@barrybristow4646 Dummy !!! This plane is equipted with the AMERICAN PW R2800 !!!!! DUUUUUUHHHHH !!!!!!! and you could not tell the difference !!!
These end of war designs were really something.
Man I'll tell you what. DANG! What a plane! Body plan reminds me of a FW 190 somewhat.
The sound of those Bristol radial engines with all that cam overlap...the loping..almost playful gallop.
I wonder with the growing idea of propeller driven light attack aircraft acting as close infantry support in uncontested skies, wether someone would think about breaking out the designs for planes like this and see what they could produce by updating them with today’s materials, engines and weapons!
Now that i’d love to see!
@@jonathanball8237 Yeah you bet!
@@ancientheart2532 Most radial engined planes of the era shared that same similar profile.
One of our old planes with skippy on the side 😍😍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Absolutely beautiful. How could anyone ever get bored of watching this stuff?
These old warbirds are truly the hotrods of the skies. They mostly all sound so cool....a certain sound that can only come from a piston engine. Long may they live. There will come a day when no more are flown, and will only be remembered by the fortunate few.
She flies like she was built in flight. Absolutely gorgeous.
she? or he?
Reynaldo Tolentino all aircraft are she.
Hawker produced some fantastic aircraft!!
I don't think that the smoke was necessary.
Thank you for posting this 👍🏻
Agreed -- the smoke was a distraction.
i DISAGREE--NOTHING WOULD DISTRACT ME FROM A FANTASTIC PLANE AND SKILLFUL PILOT LIKE THIS COUPLE, SO WELL MATCHED.
Thanks so much for posting! My late dad flew these during the 50s and said it was the best aircraft he'd ever flown. Loved it dearly. His log book is a treasured heir loom for me :)
Also the rattling noise after is quite awesome too.
Jim Barrows says you, clearly a very well respected world authority on world war 2 aircraft. Did you study them at uni? Do you appear on tv as a well respected authority on world war 2 aircraft?
Make sure you pass it on and explain it! These things get lost!
Don't blame him. Not many prop planes can bring down a MiG-15, but that's exactly what the Sea Fury did on at least one occasion.
@@thunderbird1921 P51 did also F4U Corsair, F82 also !!!!
3:00 - love this sound
Yep....me too.
Best sound ever, you really feel it in your chest with the subwoofer turned up
Yes it's nice... so emotional
I concur!
So much more satisfying than the Merlin IMHO.
That was rather amazing to watch and kudos to the pilot his aileron rolls positioning was absolutely spot on, everything was so smooth it was absolutely beautiful in every way! It most certainly was not his first time flying this plane, most likely not even his 40th time in this plane by the look of it! I actually saw a Sea Fury one morning in Fargo, my hanger was behind a largo FBO and as I was taxing out early in the morning I saw the Fury parked at the FBO and it was freshly restored and still in 100% bare aluminum and that plane was beautiful beyond words, If I had not been on a tight schedule I would have stopped to look at it. I found out later the owner of the plane was flying it to Wyoming someplace to be painted, it was a sight I will never forget!!
You know, something about that "analog" sound. Yes we have Jets and they are beautiful, powerful and fast. But there is something I can't put my mental finger on be it these prop planes, old Marantz (Sansui, Sony etc) stereo's, 69 Chevy, Dodge Chargers or other "less" capable tech in general on paper.
Sometimes the number on paper don't tell the whole story. To ME newer isn't always better.
Love it. Hear it. Believe it.
u are totaly right !!! old Marantz (Sansui, Sony etc) stereo's, that is real good desent stuff im 31 and use those old stereo electronics evry day use a real to real also and cars you are right to today those crap cars are laptops on 4 wheels its disgusting if i c a tesla i need to puke if a c a clasic analog car like a dodge cadilac b4 1980s i am happy man
Character and emotion that is what this is. Can't find it in modern aircraft.
Old stuff has soul💪

Hearing that come out of a dive gave me chills
Goosebumpbs here!
Watched (and photographed) this aircraft last weekend. What a beauty in the air as well as on the ground. This video is very well done also. I enjoyed every second of the live display I was shooting as well as this video. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for walking around and talking close ups of the plane. Not to many Seafurys make it out to my area. Have only seen one flying.
Fantastic! Pure Piston Paradise!! Thanks for a great film.
The quality of this video is SO STUNNING that I can almost feel the rivets on my keyboard. Amazing, guys! Great video and great flying! Thanks for the post!
Poetic dance of the skies - and flawless camerawork.
Great Photography....oh yes, Flying too ! Magnificent Airplane !
Certain airplanes need to be flown in a certain way to be able to appreciate the machine. This one was flown skillfully and it was an elegant display; the Sea Fury flown to its max, to show its best. A rather artistic performance as well. Pilot and airplane very well matched. Outstanding.
A good aeroplane will fly itself, and a good pilot knows that. The pilot only needs to give it a gentle nudge and the aeroplane will do what the pilot wants it to.
That pilot is as performer for sure. Nice landing too.
@@dmenace9827
Oh, trust me... when you are doing full-deflection aileron rolls (at about 90 degrees-per-second roll rate, in this case) or five-to-six "g" cuban eights or inside loops, you are giving the stick and rudder pedals Much more than a "gentle nudge", whether in this beautiful aircraft or in a Pitts S-2B "Special" or an SF.260. And it is a workout, counting all the times you have to really tighten your stomach and leg muscles. This is not straight-and-level cruising flight with gentle 20 degree banked turns, y'know, where you can fly with just fingertips on the stick grip and your left hand on the trim wheel.
Superb pilot. Fantastic demonstration. The smoke generators are a good idea. Lovely airfield.
Great video and an awesome display of a fine aircraft. Lovely airfield as well, perfect for this kind of flying display, reminds me a bit of the Shuttleworth air shows. Good times!
Awesome Paddy these videos are great thanks for keeping the old classics alive 👍😎
Sir your videos are brilliant the sound the walk around editing everything "bar none" . Thank you, cheers from down under.
Wow! Thank you for this 😄👍Great work!
Wow! What a great
Performance! Spectacular, wish I could’ve been there!
She really is a nimble, smooth mover.
Thanks for sharing this.👍🏼
Not just a perfect day but also a perfect flight. Great job.
Thumbs up for this plane! Love the effects of dual smoke system! Awesome!😀😎
Awesome video, keep them coming!!
Absolutely spectacular! Thank you.
Excellent footage of a top-class display. This is an awesome aeroplane and brilliant piloted. Very enjoyable!
Those streams are perfect, and the aircraft is just gorgeous!
Super fast machine. Love this plane. I especially like the Australian seafoam green paint scheme . Take care. Keep them flying. Hawk out!!
Freaking awesome, excellent throughout, thank you sir!
Thanks for posting this is a wonderful display and sound.
My mouth literally hung open the whole time of watching this video....The sound is simply epic! There just isn't a substitute for radials...
Favourite aircraft. Thanks for posting
Outstanding display pilot - thanks!
Who is the pilot ?
@@Joegundersen Bruno Ducreux, very young-looking Frenchman. Plenty of info on the Net. What a hobby!!
Roaring sound brings me „Gänsehaut“
A beautiful display from a beautiful aircraft.
Oh yeah! Big thanks for this to the uploader.
Super Fury-Video!! Auch der kurze Walkaround am Schluss ist natürlich ein Leckerbissen für einen Fury-Fan;-)
Looking very graceful....I could listen to that radial all day long
Beautiful video mate. That low pass down the runway was stunning. Subscribed.
Great video, thanks for uploading!
Oh man... Gorgeous, nice work that man!
Not seen one in Aussie war paint for a while. Thanks.
No, but the Hawker Tempest Mk II was used ... similar aircraft with the same engine.
Chris Richards The Tempest had the Napier H 24 Cylinders while the Hawker Sea Fury had the Bristol Centaurus twin row 18 cylinder radial.
@@a_random_tank_152mm7 The Mark V Tempest had the Sabre, while the Mark 2 Tempest had the Centaurus. The Sea Fury was solely Centaurus powered.
One of ours had the enviable task of taking down a runaway pilotless Auster back in the 1950s because the RAAF jets where to fast.
That man is flying it like he stole it. What an absolutely gorgeous display!
Superb vid mate!!!
Thanks for the great video!
Thank you for this wonderful video and the awesome music. 😉
Wow! Hell of an aircraft!
That low pass was super. Wish I was there.
Amazing, aerobatics and crop spraying at the same time.
I clicked on this for a quick look and couldn't turn if off.
It's quite simply sublime.
That fly by sound! Speechless...
Fantastic! Cameraman did a great job following it, too.
great smoke effects and a fantastic display...
Gorgeous plane.
I am intrigued at how that huge engine is cooled as it is so tightly cowled.
Beautiful to watch, flying, taxing or just sitting on the ground.
What a great plane, ever since I was a young.boy I have always been fascinated by the Hawker Sea Fury. From memory they have an 18 cylinder radial engine which puts out some real horsepower, thank you so much!
kenmason this one has a PW R2800 in it !!! The piece of crap Centaurus went away !!!!!
Se te pone la piel de gallina al escuchar el poder de ese motor radial. Dios mio!❤❤❤❤❤❤
BEAUTIFUL!
Beautiful aircraft, beautiful sound!
Wow it sounds as beautiful as it looks!!
I could listen to this beast start up all day, superb video....again 😂
Nothing like the sound of a radial. P&W, or Centar. Big muscle + big prop + big speed = BIG SMILE! My kinda math. Beautiful shots of the pit and wheel wells, model builders say Thank you!
bob dyer Yes there is bob...
A Rolls Royce Merlin/Griffin
the Bristol Centauris sounds waaay better on this airplane!
bob dyer I agree. The Centarus has a much smoother sound i think
@@kenclark9888 Are there any Sea Furys left that still run the Centauris engine?
John Crowley I saw one at Reno on a video. Check out Blancolirio channel here on you tube

Beautiful machine ! Thanks for sharing : )
Outstanding displays and pretty silent for 18cyl. What a beauty!

@wilburfinnigan2142 Yes,it did say so in the video. They do seem to replace the Centaurus in these.
Lovely to see this glorious design having some energy put through her. The Centaurus is an amazing engine
hethel8 Hey dum dum.....did you notice the FOUR bladed Prop ???? Know what that means ??? This planedoes not have the Centaurus engine !!!! DUUUUHHHH!!!!!! They had to put a GOOD AMERICAN PW R 2800 in it !!!!! Centaurus uses a FIVE BLADED prop, also READ the damn heading !!!
Goddam that’s a beautiful bird and a great job of flying it. The scream as it passes low and fast is just phenomenal. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful , a beast of aircraft
Marvellous demonstration of induced drag....look at the vortices at high alpha on take-off compared to the fast passes

I first saw one of these aircraft when it first came out. It was a private display, just a handful of people I seen to think it was at the Dehaverland airfield where the plane really got down flattening the grass and one time went by in a vertical bank with his wing tip just off the ground, some flyer
Sehr gut gefilmt !
