I'm sorry the screen isn't as big as it is in the thumbnail, my feet are big so the screen needed to be smaller so that I could actually play Wii Fit. This project and video definitely went off the deep end a bit, but I hope the final product is still enjoyable to consume. Thanks for watching!

Incredible! Not only is the project absolutely incredible and would probably go viral if it was just you sitting at your desk explaining the project and showing the finished product, but the editing and comedic timing is ON POINT. A nerdy triple threat.
If you wanted to use the Wii Remote's Pointer with your project, you could have done it easily with some infrared lights. That's how it works: the Sensor Bar uses infrared lights that the Wii Remote detects with an IR camera. Just cut some more holes in your board, wire up some lights and you're set!

or better yet: use the sun! so long as there's significant contrast between two infrared sources (i.e two mirrors or an LED behind a holed matte), the wii remotes will still work flawlessly!

I did a teardown of a balance board around a year and a half ago, and after seeing how Hollow it was I wondered of this was possible. Cool to see it become a reality.

I haven't been on my Wii in about 7 years and I could immediately tell you put the Wii Fit disc in the wrong way at 2:25. It was funny to spot that but I guess it made sense to do it like that from a filming point. But also at 9:11, correct me if I'm wrong. But doesn't the Wii NEED the Bluetooth module? I'm pretty sure it's one of those components that will completely stop your Wii from booting if it's not detected by the hardware.

Am I the only one that noticed that he put the Wii-Fit CD in the Wii from the Wrong side? Like, it has to face the other direction to be readable by the Wii
Add a hdmi output and make it a plug and play, because the small screen would definitely cause some neck pain, but being a plug and play would still be useful.

we actually had wii fit and then even got wii fit++, its one of the games I actually played the most and one of the reason why my parents buyed a wii in the first place

This is funny to see as i'm actually using my Wii Fit board daily in Wii Fit U, it's a very good way to track you weight and keep setting goals for yourself, i'm down almost 40 pounds! (16,8kg) in about 4 months, simply cause of how satisfying it is to do the Body check every day. This and calorie tracking made me realize i was simply eating way too much. and it's helped me put things in perspective.
I've actually thought how nice it would be to have this setup be deployed in a bedroom or something without having to lug a whole setup there, this is actually something i'd be down to try and make myself, Cause i think you technically made one of the smartest scales ever.

Last night, I suddenly discovered your channel while watching your video about the supposed portable GameCube. That damn render marked my childhood; I remember sending a letter to Club Nintendo LA magazine asking if it was real (the internet wasn't so common back then, and I was just a kid). I loved the video, although I must admit that part of its magic lay in the ability to read discs, but precisely because of that, it was just MAGIC. I understand it's not something practical to do.

you can connect a wii board to a pi over blue tooth and report weight to MQTT. you can use this to monitor weight of something over a network.
