Just got these same coilovers for my 2001 civic lx coupe...bought the car for a few hundred with a little over 200k miles on it - wanted a project car as I learn how to do my own repairs and maintenance...since winter is rolling around here in the northeast I didn't want to slam the car, so my plan was to drop the ride height by about an inch in the front and back...I was able to do this on the front coilovers, but I had to drop the ride height of the rear coilovers by about 1.75 inches compared to the front...haven't taken the car off jack stands yet so I haven't had a chance to look at everything on the ground, also still have to install the rear camber arms, but it looks like we're in this together with these budget ebay coilovers! hoping for the best man...thanks for the video
Dude!! That is so exciting! We will keep posting videos on the civic every few weeks on Friday’s, with a new eBay mod each week. Keep us posted on how your build goes!
@@gridengine absolutely! I'm interested to see how your car turns out...so far I've installed an eBay cold air intake (which required quite a bit of modification to make it fit), eBay exhaust (honestly doesn't sound bad at all), eBay short shifter, some random Amazon shift bushings to help improve the precision of the shifter, and I did my timing belt/water pump/tensioner which went "OK"...if you check my videos you'll see the weird rough start/crank no start condition I've inherited from the timing belt change...I got the Continental kit from RockAuto for the timing belt, but maybe the timing is off by a tooth or something, I'm not sure...I've checked and re-checked it over and over and it seems like it's in time, so I have a little work to do to firmly diagnose that...I didn't skimp on spark plugs or coil packs, and if you end up having to replace any sensors I recommend just ponying up for Honda OEM sensors...I don't think these cars play nicely with aftermarket sensors
Hey man sorry for the late response. Thanks for the tips! We are gonna do a timing belt and water pump here soon as well… hopefully our luck is better than yours 😕 also, buying from eBay and modifying if needed is always more fulfilling that spending a bunch of extra money to (maybe) get a part that fits perfectly! We love that kinda thing.
Do all coolant line and radiator when you do the timing belt and pump. Good luck with these civic. I suggest leave it as stock as possible and save your money.
Thanks for the suggestion!
You should look into the sway bars if it has body roll, from the state of the struts, the bushings are probably shot! Polyurethane bushings are stiffer than rubber , I'd look into them,
That’s a great idea! Thanks man!
Those coilovers are STRAIGHT GARBAGE.....I just had those same coilovers on my Em2 and they caused my engine post mount bushing to BLOW! Wound up ordering a new mount bushing and a set of Ksport coilovers 3 days later! Its super funny seeing this video posted a couple weeks ago, when I had installed my set, i was all over youtube trying to see if anyone else was having issues and two weeks later this video pops up. CLASSIC! Great Video! P.S. Whatever coilovers you put on an EM2/EP3/DC5 has to be set accurately so that toe angle can be properly adjusted because of the aggressive angle of the tie rods as the car sits lower and lower!
Dude that’s messed up! But it doesn’t surprise me lol. These ride REAL ROUGH. If we ever replace an eBay part with something nice, it’ll be the coils! Thanks for the advice!
Flip the tie rod upside down to accommodate for the height
@@andrewlopez8110 bada bing.
Oh damn. We didn’t even think of flipping the tie rods over! that’s really smart! Thanks for the tip!
I got the same brand and my passenger side coilover blew up
Damn bro do you go off-roading with your civic lmao my 2004 LX sedan had 190,000 miles and the suspension was still stiff and performed well.
You’re one of the lucky ones! 😂 and the previous owner definitely may have off roaded it lol
That background music just made me tear up
The good ole days 😭
theyre a pretty good base for washers
Fax
bruh i dont want to piss blood
@LondonGoCrzy000 you gotta have strong kidneys to ride in a car with these coils lol
The bouncing at the end 😆 🤣 😂
🤌🤌😂😂
Thanks for the tip. If you lift them up at factory height is it still a harsh ride ?
It’s not nearly as bad when at stock ride height, but it will still be stiffer in the front than in the rear no matter what height you have it at due to the disproportionate spring tensions and sizes…
I maxed out the front springs to lowered it more and it makes clunking noise once i hit a bump.
We had that problem too!! Check out our newer video where we modified the front springs and made them ride better!
You sorta look and sound like a young Sam Hyde lol. Goated canceled comedian
Hey man, any comparison to a legit comedian is a compliment to me! Thanks! 💪
Does anyone knows if it will fit a 2005 EL 1.7 premium ?
The eBay motors car select feature does a pretty good job of determining fitment.
You put all that preload n the spring what do u expect 🤔. I have them Same coilover n my em n the ride good yes they not bc but for what they are n worth if u set them up properly they're decent had mine on my car for two years n they still going strong n drive good
We have a mod planned for this month that will allow us to get a decent ride quality AND keep the car fairly low. But yes, the amount of preload on the springs makes the ride quality AWFUL.
@gridengine do it over. Set preload to 0 and use the only the shock body , to adjust the ride height. That's how it's done
@YokoSmash I don’t think you understand… the front springs are too stiff no matter how you adjust them… unless you want stock ride height 😕
So which coilovers do you suggest for a 2004 Honda civic?
The race land coil overs are a good price and a much higher quality.
Can you make it go down more with those coilovers?
You can… but the front is going to ride like SHIT
@@gridengine I have a similar Honda and I want to lower it to leave it stance style. Would you recommend those coilovers?
Not for stance. These will require a dangerous amount of preload on the fronts to get it as low as you want unfortunately.
yes you can, I have 1 inch front 1 1/2 back..
How’s the ride quality? 👀
where you get those car lifter..
Costco 👌
I have no words
Me neither…
I bought exactly the same ones at ebay in January 2022 for my 2005 Civic LX and it became my worst ebay experience that I don't want to remember,,,,,, After the installation with the lowest set up,,,,, Front got toooo HIGH,,,, it was way higher than my Eibach lowering springs (1.5" down in front) with the brake hoses touching the wheels without clips,,, also the drive shaft sat too high due to unusual height of the coilovers,,,,, BAD welding also and unsafe at all!!! On the other hand,,, rear got low enough,, lower than my Eibach (1.0" down in rear) ,,, Absolutely, I got very upset and soooo mad,,, with very ugly looking,,,, and of course I had to return,,,,, Imagine!! ,,, switching back to my Eibach,,,,, spent so much time and costed badly,,,,, It was a Nightmare of 2022,,, I was looking for the same victims at that time,,, but I couldn't find anybody on my web search,,,, Anyway,,, One year has passed and I am trying to get TEIN this year!!! Glad to see this video and other comments,,,, Cheers!!! 🍻🍻🍻
Yeah man we had basically the same experience! The problem with the fronts is that they have 10 pound springs and the rears have 8 pound springs. Such a weird choice on the company’s part… but TEINS?? Those are gonna ROCK dude. Let us know how they feel!
I had the same problem
@tidusdouangmychitthuo1665 sadge
Finally, I ended up with getting Air suspension installed ^^),,, I was sooo confused and worried to see feedback of the coilovers installed on this Civic,,,, I never figured out which one would be better,,, like Godspeed, Raceland, BC Racing, Truhart, Skunk, Tein or Megan,,, etc..... With my horrible experience with Maxpeedingrods,,,, I decided to go with Airmext ^^) just installed a few weeks ago,,,, it is excellent so far,,, and I will post a video on my channel by Christmas,,, 🤩🤩🤩 Cheers!!
@ichiropsToronto dude that’s sick!!! Bags are the best of both worlds for sure.
did u have troouble going on and off driveway
Depends on the driveway 😬
Hey can you work on my civic 2005
I mean probably…
If i have a bigger budget should i try bc racing coils
YES. Those are WAYYYYY better than these. These ride like shit if you want them low
@@gridengine thanks boys
Np brotha 👌
Just wondering have you had any bad clunking? I think something’s hitting on the front end of my car. Not sure if it’s the piston hitting bottom on the coilover? It’s a loud banging whenever the spring takes ANY load.
YEP!! We had that big time. We address it in this video here: ruclips.net/video/qbZbhaRElGk/видео.html
@@gridengine just curious if you have to cut the springs? I’m 90% sure the knocking is coming from the piston hitting the bottom.. i’m guessing cutting the springs makes it sit high on the adjustable threads so it doesn’t bang? I’m just trying to get my car drivable with these things… sucha pain in the ass. First the clunking was on the driver side, then it magically stopped and started on the passenger.
The only other solution that We’ve seen on the internet is to buy different springs for the front coilovers that are 8lb springs instead of the 10lb springs that come with the kit.
@@gridengine any spring recommendations? looking for some right now not sure what to get
We have not looked into any replacement springs yet 😕 sorry man. But when you choose, let us know what you think!
Greta video
Thanks man!
Hi, Do you repair honda cars or only on the project car?
We do locally.
@@gridengine If you work on different honda cars and love diagnosis things, I want to invite you to test our Honda scanner But I am not sure how to e mail you.
@eriksony6398 reach out to us on Instagram! That is the best way to chat with us.
@@gridengine I can not find you, give me link
@eriksony6398 it’s in all of our video descriptions 👍
How the heck did you get your rears to fit mine don't fit at all
In what way are they not fitting?
@@gridengine i figured it out i just used a jack to get my control arm higher but it was the bottom mount
Gocha. Yeah that’s the easiest way to do it. 💪💪
How did the wheel alignment when on your Honda Civic with the new Coilovers? Because the upper tie rod end doesn't fit perfectly on mines and can't get a wheel alignment due to this. 😢
You might need to replace your tie rod end, or maybe try a different alignment shop? We took ours to les shwab and they did a great job!
I did replace it with the OEM tie rod end while I had the suspension out. Maybe I'll try a different shop, but it's good to know that it work for you. 👍
Yeah man they should be able to do it if none of your parts are damaged.
Ok, because when I place the new part in it looked and felt fine to me, but the alignment shop said they can't align my vehicle due to the tie rod end fitting right onto the aftermarket Coilovers. Looking for a new shop that would align it. Thanks
The coilovers just have a hole in an arm that the tie rod end slips through. I don’t understand how they wouldn’t fit lol.
I actually want to lift my 2003 civic LX coupe.
That’ll be dope! Get the coils we got… they will ride great if you’re lifting the car 😂😂
@@gridengine nope, I’ll just use my originals and the spacer that goes on top of the strut.
Haha I got a 01 es1 and used those maxpeeding rods they shit lol i baught new ones the rev9’s they nice and not too expensive
Yeah… rev9’s I’ve heard really good things about. Lisa wish we would’ve made this vid BEFORE you dumped $250 on these lol. But hey! Maybe we will save some other people in the future 👌
His tape measure reads 24.75 😳
Chad… my boi… our apologies. What we meant to say was 34.6756mm 😂👌
@@gridengine lmao
😂
Those work fine.
Facts
Watch Donut Media Hi-Low. The maxspeeding rods coilovers are a piece of crap
We love donut! And yeah that poor z was all messed up by the end of season 2 😂

Way ahead of you chief 😂😂 ruclips.net/video/qbZbhaRElGk/видео.htmlsi=rk_8HbJBvIAbSfwY
