I makeover this African Cherry 1960's Dresser that was listed for free in my local Facebook Community Group. I refinished with a sexy two tone stain effect to make the grain pop.

That might be the tidiest paint stripper job I have ever seen! Wish it was always so orderly.
Think your use of 80 grit sandpaper before the paint stripper is absolutely brilliant!!! It makes so much sense.

Wow, what an amazing finish. I would never have considered highlighting the piece in that way. When I saw the stripper taking the finish off I thought, "what a shame they didn't use the same wood all over, now he'll have to stain it to blend it together". Boy was I wrong. This looks fantastic, well done!

One of the nicest refinishes I've see yet. Who would have ever thought such a not-so-lovely piece of furniture could look so expensive, hold it's vintage look and have a color that will be timeless. This won't need a refinish 15-20 years from now. Amazing!

Do you scuff sand before stripping so that the stripper soaks in easier?
I've never seen that before, but it seems to work brilliantly.

This style was pretty popular in America, too, though different manufacturers. The dark cherry tones, etc. thanks for the tip on sanding before applying stripper. In 30 years of work, ive never done that! Great outcome!❤

It's a lovely looking piece of furniture to start with (I think so anyway) but you transformed it entirely with your detailing. The handles are great and finish it off perfectly. And I love Sonny's deep concentration on the flowers 😁.

Those were brilliant stain and finish combos. Also, the large drawers needed larger pulls. That was a good thought on your part. I really like the antique color for the pulls.
You used walnut stain, but you mentioned African cherry...is that the wood? This turned out beautiful.

I didn't think I'd like this, but I really think it's a dramatic improvement from the original finish.
I didn't know it was possible to be in love with a piece of furniture but I am in love with this! I can't believe someone was just giving it away. Even if you had just stripped it and then given it a clear finish, it would have been good. I was getting masculine vibes from the piece while you were working on it, and when you chose the hardware at the end it just confirmed that feeling. It's so beautiful. Loved the asmr with scraping off the stripper, thank you for that!
