@Flipitnation good job on your first go at upholstery! The outside turned out lovely. I've been learning from "faceliftinteriors" and "ucsolutions". The first guy reupholstered a leather dining chair. The second are a father and son channel...at least 3rd generation in the business. Both are really good. I highly recommend using linesman pliers (also known as flush cutters) for removing staples and nails...just don't squeeze so hard you cut instead of pull. Pinchers also work well. Not sure what the actual name is...lol. they are pliers with a sturdy rounded head. They look like a thumb and finger curled together in a pinching way...hence the nickname. Next time you remove material...try to keep it whole. That will be a template for the replacement part. Make sure you cut a half inch more along the edges to give you room for error or stretch. As I'm sure you are aware, some material has more play than others. A woven fabric usually has itself out of alignment so be sure to buy more than called for. Have a person hold the corners on one end while you pull back and forth on the other. Follow up with ironing. This process will help realign the threads...however you will likely need to recut your "straight edges "...this is why you need extra...just a couple inches more than required should be fine. You did fine starting in the center of each edge. What gave you a hard time is that excess material. On "epicwoodworking" he visited a master craftsman for reupholstering a stool in leather...he's been doing it for many years. He does a great job on it...well worth the time to pop over. What was used on the back of the tambour door for reinforcement? Did they use straps or canvas?

@Flipitnation Real world first my friend! RUclips fans should always come last. I hope you get quick answers and a full recovery. When my oldest was born we had a terrible night nurse. She took him away from me without permission or cause (yes she was definitely reprimanded by superior and myself). When he was brought back to me he had a fast spreading infection in his mouth. Due to the unknown, unfortunately we had to take him to the neonatal intensive care for several spinal taps. I had to help hold him down for them while still going through post contractions. I'm not sure who cried more...him for going through it or me for helping causing him pain. It was brutal but we got his answers and after meds & 8 days in the nicu he was fine. I feel your pain and frustrations...chin up and hold his mama. I'm sure you are doing the best you can...I mean lok at those chubby cheeks! The chest turned out great...love the brass touches and his handle
