I swear those weed barriers never work
So far so good!
Let’s be honest the shed wasn’t coming the next day.
👀
Id like an update in a years time to see how it holds up. Never seen anyone actually use this system
I'll set a reminder and get back to you. Unless AI has taken over by then.
Me to please@@sumeraybuilds
It’s probably decent for small shed honestly. Though atleast a 4 inch base Compacted Rock base under all that would of been the best and would definitely last longer.
@@jtyree022620 inches of sand compacted and 6 inches of concrete would have been better.
base? I seen pallets put directly on the ground and plywood put on top and people walk on the false floor this was done in North Carolina at a flea market. So you know there was a lot of traffic on that floor. I guess north Carolina has good base which is clay. 73 @@jtyree0226
When the earthquake hits we know where to run to. 👍
😂
For aco or similar geogrid systems, you should lay on 150-200mm of compacted type 1 material, then the sand. Lay the grid on the sand then the stone.
I agree this is the better way to do it if you’re planning on building something more substantial.
Many soils already meet that requirement right off the bat.
Looks simple enough , my Eco Grids came today 😊
It’s not too bad, Most of it is in the prep
You can buy steel deck posts and build a cheap deck with 2x4 and osb for the top. It stays off the ground and is way less work to build.
Yeah but then you need to factor the total height for building regs. Plus it means you're stepping up into your shed instead of it being much closer to the ground. Not saying this is a bad idea, it's not, I have done this before. But sometimes this grid method is the best option.
@@sumeraybuilds You are allowed total height of 2.5m permitted development. Even with ground screws and a wooden deck it easily achievable to build a shed with good head height that is below or up to this height.
When I buy a shed I make sure they do this for me.
Someone’s doing well 💰💸
How do you anchor the shed to the ground?
I’ve gone with gravity, but if you only have a light shed then a wooden post concreted in would work
What is the purpose of the plastic grids? I've never seen those before. What would be the advantage over compacting some limestone?
They support the gravel and keep it level. Without them the ground wouldn’t stay level. Compacted limestone doesn’t drain the water as efficiently
Will it stay level after a while?
So far so good, I’ll make another video in 11 months to update everyone
You think the gravel is enough to prevent water from coming in the bottom? You don’t think you’d need to elevate it to come degree?
It’s worked well so far and we’ve had 5 months of rain in the Uk (maybe slightly exaggerated)
Can do this for metal sheds?
Yes you can!
Honestly i moved a 8x12 shed on 4x4 runners..we just slid ir off on a graveled area by house & never got back to deal with it. Want to reinforce corners with 2x4s & in walls insteadbof 2x2s & better insula tion & new roof . It stares at me😂
😂😂 good luck!
Do you 100% have to fill it up with gravel. I have gravel and sand underneath it , will that suffice mate?
In the full video, he mentioned that you don't have to fill the center.
You you need it just around the edges at a minimum. It's for strength and drainage.
Fast but can’t possibly be cheap
I think it was £150
@sumeraybuilds cost for the grid system, or does that include sand, please?
@@s.maness-turner9565 Yes that's everything
In advance im only thinking what would never work where I’m from. The earth gets frozen solid down 70-90cm here in winter, the soil underneath consisting of mud and stones would absolutely not stay where it’s supposed to be after only one winter.
I would have had to dig down atleast 1-2meters and fill it up with gravel that doesn’t lift when frozen.
I sincerely hope that your method will work just fine at your location 😊
That’s fair!
2m deep hole filled with gravel???? For a shed… no sir. That is insane.
Will this base also be your shed floor?
No, the shed has a timber floor that sits on some 1x1” treated timber.
@@sumeraybuilds Guess I better find someone to build me one. Putting my shed together is as far as I’ll venture out with any confidence.
A level is NOT a screed
😂
Why do you need a weed suppressor for land that will never see the light of day o swear people use any excuse to ram plastic in the fucking ground
It stops weeds taking root under the shed to make controlling them easier.
@@sumeraybuildsRyan might not understand how volatile weeds are. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU DON'T JUST USE GLYPHOSATE EVERY OTHER MONTH! Lol jk but my real concern is.. Where did you get those little grids lmao
and no compression of the base...
True, if you want something with a bit more longevity then compacted hardcore underneath would be a better option.
Butlins, for rats!!!
I suspect you're right!
That was my first thought. Solid concrete under mine, with steel mesh around the base bearers to stop anything getting under it. Fingers crossed, no issues after several years.
Yes because rats love to live in the two inch deep bit of shingle he’s used 😂
😅
Guy is screeding muck
😂
How to bodge a shed base
Haha, this is how you're meant to do it with these plastic grids! I read the instructions and everything
Using the bubble level to scrape dirt 😭
It’s all I had! And it worked well!
As all diyers do.
Try that with clay.
😂
LOOKS LIKE CHIT
😂
RIP dude's level
😂
👍
👍
What about rodents
Haven’t had anything yet…
Oh, the hard work! Ffs.. 🤦
😂😂
