In France, pool installers often wait about a year before laying the terrace around the pool. Allowing the soil to settle during different seasons helps prevent issues like slab movement. This patient approach pays off in the long run, avoiding the need for later adjustments.
I live in denmark. Back in the 80s my family installed a circle shaped pool. They should have listened to you and waited a year before finishing the work - you have a point and the terrace has over the years turned into a "bumpy" terrace
This was over the top...what a massive effort to build such a small pool.. Its construction I can assume allows the structure to not have to worry about lifting out as is the case with dug re-bar reinforced gunite pools. Was this build in Iceland or something like that?
I’m a pool builder, I can build a one piece monolithic pool structure in less time and less work than this. All that work for a plastic or fiberglass shell?
I also noticed, despite all the poured concrete (base and upper ring), where there was rebar (forming materials, and all either in contact with the water or in wet areas, but there was no electrical bonding included anywhere. Did I miss it? Yikes...
The cover is a brilliant idea. Contaminants are costly and time consuming to remove and a cover like this, provided it prevents any rain getting in, is a must for any new builder.
That is an absolutely stunning piece of work and to be able to use it year round! I now understand why they are so expensive to install as this is an extremely labor intensive project. Outstanding work!
You definitely won't be using a swimming pool in Germany year round, LOL. Even with that cover, you'll probably have 4 months max. 2 months without the cover.
The pool builder I worked for in the 80's and 90's built about 3000 pools a year and most were 3-5-3 pools. 3 Ft at each end and 5 ft in the middle. Diving pools fell out of popularity after the 70's and people just wanted "play pools" with volleyball net, basketball hoop.

The big dump trucks hauling away the construction debris and returning with new dirt busted the neighborhood's main water line! Geez Louise, I cannot find a contractor willing to repair/restore my parent's swimming pool and other home maintenance/improvement projects; consequently, I have become a "Novice DIY Guy". I have so many DIY Projects ahead of me. I am concurrently working on my parent's swimming pool [14,500 gallon capacity] and surrounding ground [I plan to plant new sod]. It is huge job for me: our swimming pool and pool deck was built in 1984 [too bad it wasn't my childhood home]. The pool needs maintenance/repair: besides a few tiles falling into the pool the following areas need repair; 1) the coping area needs to be cleaned and prepared for new mortar and/or concrete sealant, 2) the pool deck slabs may need to be jacked up unless it causes more damage, 3) the pool deck needs to be cleaned, resurfaced (?) and prepared for new mortar and/or concrete sealant in the control joints and cracks and 4) reattach tiles where necessary, I know I need to lower the water level to let the tiles and coping area to dry, In my research of swimming pool maintenance and repair, I don't think our swimming is in despair as I once thought: I guess that is why I do not get a quote from contractors. Most contractors want to demolish and build a new swimming pool - we are not going this option.
Very nice, but pool installers here in France tend not to lay down the terrace/deck surrounding the pool for a year or so to give the disturbed earth time to settle.
