I went to airshows every summer growing up.
Then I joined the Air Force in 2001 and worked in airfield management. We had a huge airshow every summer at our base. As you might imagine - that's a lot of work for airfield management😂 loved it though. Kind of like getting behind the scenes of the airshows I was obsessed with growing up.

The annual EAA AirVenture event at Oshkosh, Wisconsin remains the largest aviation celebration in the world. Everything you see in these videos will be there. It usually happens at the same time as the Milwaukee German-Fest, so those two events can be seen together on the same day.
Edit: As a bonus, the annual Stihl Timbersports championship happens at the Milwaukee German-Fest as well. The Oshkosh air show is your best bet to see military planes in action, but the National Air Force museum in Dayton, Ohio at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base houses a huge collection of aircraft as well. From the Reaper and Globalhawk drones to the XB-70 Valkyrie, to the bomber that dropped a nuke on Nagasaki(Bockscar), to the presidential Air Force 1 planes, they have everything.

@@AKCFTW Well technically the largest Military air show in the US is MCAS Miramar, which in itself is huge and wildly impressive, but the largest airshow in the world is Oshkosh. For the duration of the week-long show, the main ATC becomes the busiest in the world. They have over 10,000 aircraft in regular attendance, mostly civilian aircraft such as acrobatic prop planes, homebuilts, and restos. However, many of the Mainstays of military aviation maintain a presence at EAA AirVenture, including the F-22, C-130J, A-10, F-35A/B/C, UH-60, AH-64, F-16, B-52, B-29, V-22, C-17, B-2, and the Blue Angels' F/A-18's.

I just started watching this guy/channel and I love his enthusiasm for Portugal…always looking for their flag and seeing if they are named in anything. He seems to have pride for his country. I watched him react to another video where the video named a will to fight for and defend our country as one of the biggest assets or reasons the US military is so strong. I agree with that statement and it starts with a feeling of pride like the one he has for Portugal. I love the sense of pride he portrays for his country. I am proud to be a United States citizen and would gladly defend my country and people. It’s like the song says, “I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. Trump can say what he wants, they are empty threats and he just wants to seem important. Also, NATO does not work the way he thinks it does. Countries do not merely "pay the US" for defense. Individual countries purchase American equipment, yes, but all contribute in different ways, be it geographic access, production capabilities, nuclear deterrents, and sheer numbers of troops (unlike the US, many countries still maintain conscription). 2% of GDP as a spending threshold has also been debated for decades. Countries that rely on exports of natural resources, like Norway, can have GDP fluctuate wildly year to year; what is a 2.1% target can quickly become 1.9% if the market changes internationally. So, from one Andre to another, don't worry, us Americans won't abandon you guys that easily.

Generally, an airshow consists of a vast "static display" area spread out on the "tarmac" (paved area) in which you can walk in and amongst many different models of both fixed-wing aircraft and rotary-wing aircraft (helicopters) from all the services (Air Force, Navy, Army, and Marines depending on which choose to participate in any given show venue). Many of the planes, particularly the older ones like F-15's, F-16's, etc., you can walk right up to and touch (armed guards watch everybody of course), and there is usually one of the huge C-5 Galaxy cargo planes with the rear and front bay doors open that you can walk up the ramp and through the cavernous cargo bay to see it from the inside.
The newer technology planes, if static displayed, will generally be roped off with theater-style ropes to keep spectators at a bit of a distance, maybe 30 meters away or thereabouts. Later in the day there will be a several hours long series of flybys and acrobatics performed at "show central" along the main runway. An announcer narrates the goings-on. There you will possibly get to see some of the more "sensitive" planes, that you probably will never see on static display, do their thing in the air. Probably you will see the Air Force's Thunderbirds or the Navy's Blue Angels. One of my favorite to watch has always been the B-1 Lancer, because the thunderous sound of the engines during takeoff is quite an experience.
One of the coolest things you will ever see is what is called a "high speed pass." The plane will come at you, down the runway at just slightly below the speed of sound and at a VERY low altitude, probably less than 100 meters above the ground. You can see it coming from a long distance away, but you do not hear anything. You just see this plane slicing like silent glass through the air. It will literally pass right in front of you in total silence. You won't hear the roar of the engines until a second or so AFTER it passes. The effect is surreal. They cannot do any supersonic passes, as it is dangerous to do so at low altitude; not for the plane but for the spectators. It can also shatter windows of everyone's cars in the parking lot.
There will usually be plenty of food vendor trucks set up behind the spectator area where you can get lots of cold drinks (no alcohol though) and typical summer outdoor fare like hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, etc. I, personally, have never run into any restrictions on picture taking. If there is something secret, then it won't be out on display where anyone could photograph it.
Besides here in the U.S., there are also airshows in Europe too. I know there is a big one in France each year. Not sure if there are any in Lisbon but since you're NATO, there might be.

The F35 is an American-built warplane that several American allies both in and out of NATO, have purchased. The F-35 is purpose-built for both stealth and an incredible level of integration with the fleet and alliance combat theater. So an Italian F-35 could be stealthily scouting an area, and it can signal to alliance assets in real time what its advanced sensors detect. FYI, according to a quick Google search, Portugal flies the F-16.

You can certainly visit the Cape Canaveral or Boca Chica where Rockets take off. Wrights-Patterson near Dayton has the most incredible air museum as well as planes that take off. If you do go to Texas, the 7th Bomb Wing may still be any Dyess Air Base near Abilene, Texas. There is a List of places where they are stationed on Wikipedia.
Norfolk, VA is a great place to see Naval strength!

Every year the military puts on air shows for the community. The Navy has the Blue Angels and the Air Force has the Thunderbirds. They usually alternate every year and visit various bases in the US and internationally at a few bases. You get to go up close to the different planes and even go inside some which is great for the kiddos. The pilots even give autographs. They have food stands and toys/tshirts etc. for sale. People bring chairs and some bring their own food and stay for the day because the big display is usually at the end of the day. Check both websites for the calendar schedule. There have been talks of the US leaving NATO for some time because we fund a lot of humanitarian and war conflicts which is not fair. I don’t know if you know this but the US is in debt for 34.4 TRILLION dollars so you can understand the US getting upset when we have to pay the majortiy of things.

It's interesting to see the 3 heavy bombers in the same formation. You have the B-52 which is 70 years old, the B-1B which is now approaching 50 years, and the B-2 Spirit which is over 25 years old now. The Americans are now starting to field the B-21 Raider which is the latest stealth technology and is even more capable than the B-2 at 680 million dollars where the B-2 cost over 2 billion dollars each. Each of these aircraft carry between 50,000 pounds (B-21) and 110,000 pounds (B-1B) of weapons. They can carry conventional bombs, smart weapons and several missiles including the Tomahawk cruise missiles with a stand off range of 1,500 miles.

When I was stationed in Shaw AFB in SC we gave tours often, I think it was every 3 months, and I think each month there was a lottery for being able to get taken up in a jet. We had F-16s though, I doubt there would be the same policy for stealth aircraft.
It's highly possible that the commander would actually schedule you a ride-along in an F-16 if you filmed it for your channel. The military really likes good press. Then again things might have changed a lot since I was in. Still doesn't hurt to ask.

Unfortunately, my cousin couldn’t rise to Navy Admiral because his parents were born in Panama instead of the USA. Reaching Admiral (our last name) would have made many people proud. But Captain is just fine.

Basically a big yearly event that includes hydroplane races, the U.S. Coast Guard doing a search and rescue demonstration, multiple different military planes flying over including a show by the Navy's Blue Angels, and you have the Army Golden Knight parachute team doing a demonstration in the air above as well.

What are the biggest airshows in the US?
The town of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, hosts the world's largest fly-in convention during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. With more than 10,000 aircraft in attendance, there's a little bit of everything represented, including warbirds, home-built aircraft, ultralights, and vintage planes. While in Wisconsin, famous for their cheese & beer. 🍺🧀 While there, visit the Harley Davidson museum to see the classic motorcycles. Have fun & best wishes!👍

You wont likely see a B2, 1. The are only a handful, 2. Their home base is guarded at the same level Area 51, 3. No B2 mission is made public knowledge till well after it is complete. Your best bet would be a sporting event where they advertise a fly over.
The B2 is also extremely expensive to fly, 1 hour of flying the B2 is about $150,000 USD. Since they have to be repainted after every mission.
Also America has 11 of the 21 aircraft carriers on the planet.
