      No the F35 is not better than the F22. The F22 is never gonna be flown by pilots from other countries due to the fact that it has classified equipment and cost much more than the F35. But, the F15 may be able to beat em all. Congress is involved with the F22 and made a law that it can never be sent even to allies of the US...

    The F22 is only an air superiority fighter. It's role is to take on other aircraft and survive. The F35 is a multirole fighter, it performs many different functions. Think of the F22 as an assassin, stealthy and striking from the shadows. While the F35 is an elite soldier, performing multiple roles to suppress the same enemies in different ways.

      Well said. If I may add f22s cannot take off and land from air craft carriers like the f35s. This seriously limits the f22s capabilities.

      @colbunkmust 8 месяцев назад +3

      Technically the F22 has the ability to perform as a ground attack platform as well, but it's not as good at that role as the F35. F22 has done some CAS and strike roles in Syria in the past decade just to see how it performed. Like you said F-35 having a more advanced targeting system and sensors is much better at more roles. F-22's biggest advantage is more raw power which is important when intercepting and killing other birds in the sky at long range.

    The F22 is an air superiority fighter (the best) at doing what it does. The F35 is mostly for ground attack but can also dogfight, just not as well as the F22. The F22 is king of the air superiority roll.!!!

    • @trevorjrooney
      @trevorjrooney 8 месяцев назад +3

      The F22 is absolutely the king of air superiority, thanks to its maneuverability. The F35 is replacing it because it is the king of future air superiority, which unfortunately won't include flashy dog fights, which is why it isn't as maneuverable as the 22; it's designed to never be able to be put in the situation where it would need to dog fight, either because it was never seen, engages at a superior distance, or it commands NGAD faithful wingman drones to dog fight for it.

      this isnt exactly true. the 35 isnt meant to be in dog fights. if it is the pilot fucked up a long time ago. it is built to destroy the enemy before they can see the 35 on the radar or with their eyes. so it is meant for air to air but it is not meant for dogfighting. a lot of the knocks on this plane was from when they came out and to be fair it did almost shoot its own pilot. i was one of them at the base in the vid. but the 35 is a beast

    To put the cost in perspective.
    F-35 A Variant (This is the air force variant that can not do vertical takeoff landing or land on carriers which makes it cheaper and most popular) $77.9 million per unit.
    F-22 is somewhere around $137 million to $150 million per jet if it were still being made today.
    Saab JAS 39 Gripen is estimated at $85 million but not official figures are available, is one of the most modern 4th gen aircraft and is designed to be high performance and low cost.
    F-16 is at $63 million which is an older airframe but still very capable and the most popular aircraft among America's allies.
    And only the F-22 is stealth but even it doesn't match a lot of the capabilities the F-35 has, as it is designed to be able to kill anything in the sky but the F-35 is designed to control an entire battlespace by giving incomparable levels of sensors and communications to basically show every other allied aircraft in the area all enemy assets that their radars and sensors might not be able to see.

    F-35 got a lot of hate for no real reason i think. People didnt want it to replace their favorite legacy jets, plus it was extremely expensive to develop. But overall the 35 is probably one of the best aircraft ever made for the roles it was designed for. And the fact its showing promising signs in competing or even exceeding the abilities of its peers and predecessors, plus its lowering costs, i think it'll be a great addition to any airforce. And we'll see its real teeth in combat when the day comes.

    The F22 is a specialist. Head to head in an air superiority role it's still the most capable. It's also only has a 50% mission capable rate (which has been falling) and is very expensive to operate (and that's climbing). It also has a 5,000 hour service life. It's the Sports Car.
    When you need a bomb truck, stealth be damned with air to air capablijty you want the F15EX. It has a 20,000 hour service life. It's the Sports Sedan.
    When you need stealth with the ability to carry an internal payload (to remain stealthy) and air to air capability you want an F35A. .It has a 10,000 hour service life. It's the GT Car.
    Different tools for different tasks.
    They still can't meet delivery schedules for current orders on the F35A, no point in increasing orders near term. The F15EX is better for certain roles and will help replace the older F15C/D/E models as they are retired.
    If you could only have one you would want the F35A. But all three will be a superior combination. The F22 replacement will be a Gen 6 Air Superiority Fighter in 10-20 years. The EX and 35A will have to fill any capacity gap until then as older F22 airfrsmes are slowly retired.

    In a nutshell in American football terms F22 is the linebacker that breaks through and destroys the enemy defenses.. The F35 is the quarterback that can long locate enemies targets and can pass its data to any friendly combat pilots or ground artillery units in the area on the enemy. It can accurately target any enemy entity, ground forces, air defenses, fighters and enemy bases and can coordinate the where to target without the F35 can exposing itself… The stealth radar detection on an F35 is a small bird, a pigeon size but the F35 electronically send signals to the enemy radar and disguised itself as a flock of birds readings on an enemy’s radar….

    “Dogfighting “ is kind of a misunderstood term. We think of top gun footage where to planes duke it out at close range, but the F35 is not designed to do that as it’s primarily strength, like the F22 is for example.
    The F35, can do that, but not as well. It is meant to kill before it is seen, or at least before it is too late to need to “dogfight “.
    The sensors and data link is where it beats the F22 hands down. Nothing will ever get close enough to touch it if all goes right.

    Hey, I dont normally watch react content, let alone comment, but you discovering the american military is something else. I have alot of video suggestions you might like that actually go into the engineering of how/why the planes were designed instead of just clips of it flying.
    But first, if there is one video (well 2 parts) you absolutely have got to see its the operations room: Lettye Gulf, Battle of Samar. Techincially there are 5 parts to the Lettye gulf series but the other 3 are nothing special, and the operations room is a more factual/less passionate channel than the Fat Electrician. But the battle of Samar, taffy 3 vs center force, is the single most desperate and mismatched battle in the history of the US navy. Before starting or when the ships are listed) id suggest (on camera) looking up the tonnage and weapons of the Fletcher class destroyer , Samuel B. Roberts (DE-413, the previous one before the one that got blown up by the iranian mine) and compare then to the battleship yamato which they were up against (spoiler: 1 of the yamato's gun turrets weighs as much as an entire Fletcher destroyer, the yamato itself is as big as the entire US force, and thats before you get into the other 3 battleships ,and all of their escorts)
    As for the engineering videos:
    Real Engineering has "The Insane Engineering of the F35B", as well as "The Insane Engineering of the F16" , They also have a 3 parter on the space shuttle and two on the james web telescope and parker solar probe worth checking out.
    Mustard has: " Why The F-15 Terrified The Soviets " , " The World’s Fastest Bomber: The XB-70 Valkyrie " and "Why Was This Plane Invulnerable: The SR-71 Blackbird Story"

    The F-22 shows up on radar as a bubble bee sized flying object, because how it was designed and made. Vs F-35 relies on stealth plates for stealth. There is recorded instances of those stealth plates falling off mid flight. F-22 is banned from being purchased from other countries till it's replacement is flying, but the F-35 is sold to other countries for revenue. The F-22 would annihilate F-35 in a dog fight. The F-35 is supposed to replace the F-16 and the A-10 warthog. Which makes no sense in the A-10 replacement because it is a fraction of the F-35 building cost. That is why the Sky Warden is gaining so much traction.

    The F-35 program was intially called the Joint Strike Fighter ( JSF ) due to the fact that besides the US other Nato allies share the cost for production and maintenance and produce planes for their own country. The F-35-B's were made with the mission to replace the McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II ( Jump Jet ). The Royal Navy's need to replace the Harrier is getting relevant. The F-35's were to be the companion plane to the F-22 like the F-16 was to the F-15. The F-22's overall Stealth capability is better then the F-35's but the F-35's is still better then all Gen-4 and older planes. F-35's what capabilities do you need ; we have the F-35_A , F-35_B and F35_C let us customize it for you. The F-35's are meant to be the more affordable and widely available plane for the US and Nato allies.

The F35 is designed to control the battle space. It can control the weapons on other aircraft, ships, and gound base weapons, like artillery. It is much more advanced technologically than the F22. Think of it this way: the F-16 is multirole in the sense that it is a fighter that can also hit ground targets if needed. The F-35 is multirole in the sense that it is a ground-attacker that can defend itself from air threats if needed. Neither of them have a good chance of winning against an air-superiority fighter from a peer military, but don’t need to for the same reason destroyers were more common in navies than cruisers in WW2.

    Every plane in US military have a purpose. F35 is best all round air to air, ground, stealth...but not the best at any single one of those. Best air to air is F22 due to stealth and power. F18s are like non stealth f35s good all round. F16 are just fast nimble like F22 but not stealth. F15s are just beasts...fastest, carry most missiles/ b0mbs and have so much power in the engines they can go straight up after takeoff and break the sound barrier while doing it. Th F15EX is going to be used as a weapons tanker.....F35 sees something but launches a missile on an F15EX thats further away at it to keep his stealth. So F=Fighter, A=Attack(ground) B=Bomber E=Electronic warfare(jamming) C=Cargo X=Experimental then u can have some that combine like an EA18 Growler electronic and Attack and the AC130 Attack and Cargo......we have uses for them all........

    The US Air Force no longer loves the F-22. They have been in a fight with our Congress to let them retire them. They have 32 of them they want to be rid of because it costs them $500 million dollars just to maintain them. They told Congress that the F-22 will never be part of any combat plan because its electronics are so outdated that it would be a total waste of time and money to bother trying. They also said that, in addition to wasting time and money, it would require them to pull talent from making our sixth generation fighter jet. Poor F-22 :(
    As for the F-35, the ones we sell to our allies aren’t the same as the ones we use ourselves. Every nation who produces tanks or jets have a domestic model and an export model. There are definitely things in those F-35s we don’t know about.

    The F22 is better at it's role, because it's an air superiority fighter, meaning its only job is to take out other aircraft. However, the F35 is a multirole aircraft, capable of doing much more than the F22. So if the job is only air-to-air combat, the F22 is better; if the job is anything else, the F35 would probably be better.

No doubt its capabilities on purely being more like a "smart" fighter is unmatched and since it was very recent it has the advantage of all the latest tech developed into it unlike older planes having to get those constantly integrated. But performance wise its meant to be more a jack of all trades...hopefully excelling in all areas well. Its used by air force, marines, and navy and thus has a variant that can even take off/land vertically. So its invaluable for a lot of reasons which is why id say its more valuable for other NATO and ally countries then the USA. Most NATO and Asian allies have them or are getting them...replacing their older generation planes because cost wise it makes sense for them.
    Unlike most countries the USA has the budget to continue to upgrade our 4th generation and F-22 fleets...and i think of the F-35 as meant to be the quarterback of the team. Its a great dual threat plane capable of doing a lot of damage on its own but like a QB needs other great players around them also, the F-35 will shine directing our aircraft around it that all are better at certain tasks then it is. Hope that helps clear things up a little bit for you!

    No, the F35 is not better than the F22. There's a reason we sell the F35 and not the F222 our friends, no one but the U. S can have the f 22.

    And see I like your reactions to stuff like this. You have a completely unbiased as possible reaction to these systems. With most of what you think and say is better. Based on looks and personal preference, which you blatantly say is the case, so no worries. Thats a completely valid point of view, especially when said up front. And the A-10 is hands down better, for a dedicated tank killer, ground strike and Close Air support (CAS) platform or CAS for a medivac. If I’m station, you can’t beat an A-10 really, unless you got a B-1B or B-52 on station with Jdams and latern or newer targeting pod with some laser guided and SDUs loaded also. Or and AC-130. Now for anything but that one job, the F-35 blows the brakes off of an A-10, or most other platforms. They are insanely advanced and good, and only getting better. With more and more actual readiness, and lower per unit cost. With equal or slightly higher maintenance costs, with far more capability than any other platform save the B-2, B-21 or F-22/A can hope to achieve, but each of those platforms are specialized to one or two roles…and modified to do more, the F-35 can and will do all roles better. Except air superiority role. Or a bomber. As it’s not a strategic bomber, or a dedicated air superiority fighter. But for actual combat, is almost as good for actual missions as a whole. And far. Far cheaper. Plus can and is run by 3 different US branches and many foreign militaries with total numbers being made and used only going up every year, and further driving down price as they said. It’s over 40 million cheaper than the best 4 th gen fighter/multi role jet. That is t stealth and has half of its other capabilities at base level, lol. It is truly ground breaking and mind blowing what we can do

    In air superiority F-22 wins F-35 is multi-role never mind saw previous comment beat me to the punch. The US built a total of A, B and C variants A for normal Air Force, B for USMC vertical jump jets and C for Navy for catapult launch. Total planes is 2,456 and F-22 Raptor Air Force only US but like 187 planes so the numbers.

    head to head, the F-22 would take the F-35's lunch money every single time. the F-22 still has tech that is classified that is why it wont be sold to other NATO allies. F-35 is a multirole jack of all trade fighter jet. F-22 specializes in dominating the air to air diplomatic relations.

  • @Doomcharger

    With the F-15 having a 104:0 Kill-to-loss ratio, the F-22 is 40 times more deadly due to it's stealth capability. U.S. Federal Law prohibits the sale of the Raptor outside of the U.S. Right now, the NGAD (Next Generation Air Dominance) is under works and is supposed to be even deadlier. I've said this on a Habitual Linecrosser video, but anything we roll out isn't for the current leader, but the next guy in charge.

    You know, every time you watch a video from "US Military News," I can't help but think that they're saying a lot without actually telling you anything. Every video you say something along the lines of "I have no idea what that means, but I trust him." They give these big words and statistics without actually explaining what it means, so anyone who doesn't already know about all of this stuff- the target audience- isn't getting much out of it.

  • @kimchi2780

    I still believe the F15EX is superior due to its loadout. Also F35s stealth will be negligible due to external armaments.

    • @robertgoodrich8953
      @robertgoodrich8953 8 месяцев назад

      They don't load weapons on the wings when stealth is needed, genius. That is called "Beast Mode," which you would know if you had just a little knowledge on the subject. Research for yourself!!

    • @kimchi2780
      @kimchi2780 8 месяцев назад

      @robertgoodrich8953 without the external load out it has 1/4 what an EX has and both will be bombing with air support. It's stealth capabilities as a strike fighter are moot. It's only sales point is It's multi role and export availability.

    The F-22 is still better than the F-35 but the F-22 cannot be produced again unless outrageous amounts more money are spent. Special but not reproducable cheaply enough.
    The F-35 can be produced cheaper for international sale to allies right NOW.
    The F-22 is still better but will be replaced by the time the F-22 needs to be retired.
    In the meantime, the F-22 will still rule the skies.
    The F-35will do just fine for allies meantime.

  • @ImpendingJoker

    P&W's stance has now actually bit it int he butt. There is now a new competition for a replacement engine for the F-35, and it will be cheaper than the F135, and at the moment it doesn't look like P&W is going to win, and that GE will win and come in well under P&W's current program. So in short, P&W got greedy and now they are going to lose big time.

To be clear, it's not you, it's the video. I would absolutely recommend a video from Megaprojects or Real Engineering. Both channels have amazing videos about US fighter jets.

    As others have said, I would say that the f-35 and the F-22 are equal to each other in overall value and overall strength. But in different ways the F-22 is 95%. Maybe more just air to air combat and the F-22 can literally take down anything in the sky point blank like set in a previous comment and a head-to-head fight. The F-22 would take the f-35's lunch money every single time, but although the f-35 is not as good as the 22 in air-to-air combat, the f-35 being a multi-roll fighter is better at every other mission type involved in air combat than the 22

    this video was more about dollar and sense than ' why the plane is more advanced ' lol military news using click bait titles now...
    Andre, that helmet the F-35 pilots where wearing alone is $400,000. it ties in to sensors and cameras located all over the planes surface, which allows the pilot to look through the floor of the plane. giving the pilot a full 360 degree of vision. ( there's better videos if you want to see what the F-35 is capable of, this one sucked).
    Not a knock on you, enjoy your reactions.
