The whole album was. 21st Century Man describes the lonelyness all our modern technology can and do leave us in. And this one describes very well where we are about to go with AI and (sex)robots. This masterpiece of an album is kinda predicting where we are heading and that we should enjoy each other and life more in the now than longing for the future (as I hear it)

Imagine how radical this was when I bought the first album in 1981. It was so radical I wore that 8-track out, and had wore out two cassettes, before I went to CD. Listen to it a thousand times in the last 42 years, and still love that song, and the entire Time album.

This is one of my favorite songs by ELO. Extremely experimental and before its time. The lyrics are prophetic. She's also a telephone! If you are going to react to each song on the Time album, you will go down a rabbit hole that you will never forget! Please do!
    Then listen to Shangrila

Time was meant to be a double album. For some reason the decision was made to make it a single album.
Whomever made that decision screwed up.

I had this on vinyl back in 1981……it was a conceptual album but also a very visionary album…….. Brian Paine has written a book based on the album called “Yours Truly 2095” which is a brilliant read and brings the album to life as well with subtle name drops of band members, songs etc….its a great read and you don’t need to know about ELO as it stands alone as well.

It was interesting for me watching both your faces listening and reacting to one of the greatest progressive rock bands of all time. Not to mention this is one of their best. ELO is still way before their time and as others have stated below, there is not one bad ELO song to be found. So nice to see a different generation appreciate the genius called Jeff Lynne.

The concept album "Time" released in 1981 wasn't greatly received by many diehard E.L.O. enthusiast but for me it was genius then and it still is now and is one of the greatest concept albums ever conceived. Jeff Lynne really is a musical chameleon shifting with the times whilst retaining the E.L.O. sound throughout the eras if you listen closely enough. Please listen to "Time" from start to finish and lose yourselves in a longing to return to the good old 1980s from the year 2095. Very prophetic.

'Hold On Tight' is their biggest hit on the album 'Time'... Some other good tracks in my view are actually 'b' sides called 'The Bouncer', 'When Time Stood Still' and 'Julie Don't Live Here Anymore '... though none were included on the album.

Fair warning, I listened to this song 1000 times in the 1980's. I had the whole TIME album on 8-track in my car.... But I feel like you guys would do a lot better if you pause to talk, and rewind a touch when you start again. Note at 0:53 you completely miss the look-alike girl who is "an IBM." You like the music but don't bother with the lyrics? The is a reaction, right??? So react to the story as well as the music..... The whole idea seems to be new to you at 2:42 so you missed the story line till then.
