It’s a concept album about time travel (Twilight: he‘s taken to a place in the future; Yours Truly 2095 talks about that robot he falls in love with; Ticket To The Moon: he thinks about the love he had to leave behind in the distant past; The Way Life’s Meant To Be: he‘s walking through this future version of places he knows from the past and feels like a stranger). The rest of the songs (which we all hope you’re going to listen to soon) continue that story.
Well said!
Spot on.
Yes, agree. It's set in the future pondering what has become of the world and looking back to the good old days before "progress" was made! One of my favourite albums. Certainly hope you listen to more of it.
The Changes of His Hometown from What it once Was Makes him ashamed He didn't know to protect it From Changing. It's looking Back in Retrospect to How it was
It's (very) loosely based on "Somewhere In Time." Instead of going backward in time, he goes forward. I'm unsure if the penny in his pocket sends him back in this one.
That's Jeff Lynne singing. He's a mimic and can sing in any style or tone he wants to.
It was Jeff Lynne the whole time. The name of this concept album is Time and it tells a story of him traveling to the future from 1981 and this song tells of his disappointment in what his town has turned into and it’s people.
I think you'll find it was Kelly (Groucutt) predominantly on this song with Bev Bevan
After you're done with the album "Time" proper, may I suggest 3 more songs that would have been included on "Time" if it had been a double album like Jeff originally had planned. "When Time Stood Still", "The Bouncer" and "Julie Don't Live Here Anymore" are all great songs!
Yes, I dig, "When Time Stood Still." Happy New Year, unruly! :D
I still think "When Time Stood Still" is a tribute to/about John Lennon. I actually have a theory on the whole album, but I'm saving that one for my discussion with Jeff when I run into him at the grocery store some day, lol.
@@Fatty.D.McButterpants ... I have nicknamed my Ragdoll cat Floofy McButterpants in your honor!
@@Cosmo-Kramer Happy New Year to you as well Cosmo! WTSS is one of my favorites. I especially like the video of it paired with the movie Silent Running.
@@Fatty.D.McButterpants Please share it here, we won't tell Jeff!
A good song to clean your house to on a Saturday., if you can keep from dancing 😀 👍 nice work you 2 !!
it sounds like the Beach Boys, Hero's and Villans and yes that is Jeff singing (Jeff sings em all)
Jeff has an amazing talent of changing his voice to match the song vibe he's going for!
It's Jeff Lynne singing.
This was recorded at ABBA's Polar Studio's in Stockholm. It does have the ABBA sound. Listen to Julie Don't Live Here from ELO. A Time B-side. It sounds like ABBA as well and was recorded at Polar.
The album was mainly recorded at Musicland Studio's in Munich, Germany, with a few sessions taking place at Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. I'm not sure which tracks were done during the Swedish sessions though.
I always thought this sounded a bit like ABBA
Hopefully you know by now it’s a concept album about time traveling. Jeff’s character has arrived at his home town in the future, which has turned for the worst.
the album is an opera , all of the songs are related to each other, it's a story. You'll catch a repeated theme of "A message from another Time".
"As I Wander around this wreck of a town where people never speak aloud. With it's ivory towers and it's plastic flowers, I wish I was back in 1981. Yes it's Jeff singing and he's the guitar player.
Got to listen throught headphones youl catch those background noises.. ELO s masterpiece from 1981. Brilliant album their best is from albums like this.. oh listen to it all.. 😜10/10..
This song sounds like a Roy Orbison song to me. Jeff Lynne was in a band with Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan & George Harrison called the Traveling Wilburys. Very cool stuff.
This album really is a good album. it just never "felt" like an ELO album to the fullest to me, (maybe it was the experimental value of it) but now "El Dorado" that's a classic ELO album if ever there was one tbh.
Time is the continuation of Eldorado.
ELO is the band behind the movie XANADU, with Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelly
Hi soy de América Latina, Chile.🇨🇱. Los veo siempre, sobretodo cuando reaccionan a ELO. De ellos si están revisando el álbum Time, estas canciones: "Hold On Tight", "Rain Is Falling" "The lights go Down". Esas fueron éxitos aquí en América.
Ahora, les pido a Uds. Reaccionar al álbum "Discovery" de ELO, acá en las Américas es súper conocido. Muchas canciones reconocidas.
Saludos y sigan así
bien CHILE
Jeff Lynne wrote and produced Agnetha's Euro-hit One Way Love.
"That was so cool"! great reaction, tyvm!
Please keep on reacting to: ‘When Time Stood Still’ - from same album ‘Time’ - and to ‘Hello My Old Friend’ from double album ‘Secret Messages’: Jeff Lynne’s nostalgic disappointment for his hometown’s change and deep longing for past times … you’ll find the clue 😍
It looks like you're going through the whole 'Time' album, if so skip the next song "Another Heart Breaks"', it's an instrumental and go straight to 'Rain Is Falling', thanks 😁
This is Jeff Lynne doing his Freddy Fender imitation. He does Lou Reed on his solo tune Nobody Home. He does Roy oberson on Endless Lies. He does John Lennon on his Can't Get it Out of My Head. George Harrison on his Don't Want to Say Goodbye Etc. He does it to change up his vocals beyond just singing the tune.
Jeff had a thing about 50s doo wop sound. Incorporated in his music a lot.
That is Jeff singing . He was the only lead vocalist they had . the other band members had great voices but preferred to stay with background vocals. Jeff wrote every song they ever performed. That album by the way is easy to figure out but you have to listen to every song in order. It is a concept record about a man who travels into the future using a time machine. His goal is to seek the meaning of life , love and escape to something better. But when he gets to the future he realizes he is more alone than ever, and they havent got the answers to his questions either
Roy Wood sings lead vocals on a couple of very early ELO songs from the 1st album: Look At Me Now and Whisper In The Night. Kelly Groucutt sings lead on a verse here and there, but not on any of the Time songs.
This is the first song recorded for the album, so everything for TIME album comes from this idea. Jeff took more sound ideas from Alan Parsons "Don't Answer Me" than Beatles song.
Marissa, thank you for correcting Tyler on the proper pronunciation of, *"Lynne".* It is indeed pronounced, "LIN", not, "LINE". Unfortunately Tyler doubled down on his disrespect by responding, *_"Lin, Line, whatever, same difference."_* Um, no, Taylor...I mean Tyler...it is not the "same difference". Saying someone's name correctly--particularly a revered musical genius like Jeff--is a fundamental respect he deserves. Perhaps you didn't mean to be disrespectful, but you certainly came off that way with your flippant, hand-waving response: *_"Lin, Line, whatever, same difference."._* Poor form, young man. Poor form. ps~That is Jeff on lead vocals. He is a man of many voices, as you two will learn the deeper you explore the ELO rabbit hole.
I called him out (very respectfully, I might add) on something he said about "Twilight" during the "2095" reaction and he deleted it, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
@@Fatty.D.McButterpants That's disappointing to hear. A reactor who cannot take criticism will not last long.
Can't believe you haven't worked out this is a concept album! You're missing the whole point of it! It's about him going to the future! Listen to the lyrics! And it is jeff lynne singing 🎶
I don't think they read the comments. I explained the concept in great detail in the last video.
Oh… it’s Jeff singing.
The guy from 1981 goes back to his hometown and everything has changed. It makes him feel more out of place than before, but he's trying to accept his situation.
The album, 'Time'... Here goes... ' It is a concept album about a man from the 1980s who is taken to the year 2095, where he is confronted by the dichotomy between technological advancement and a longing for past romance'. And yes - Jeff sings! I mean the whole album is great but... Wait till you get to 'Rain Is Falling', 'Lights Go Down' and 'Hold On Tight'... you're in for a treat!
This is about his hometown Birmingham
Wish I was back in 1981 😊
The Whole Time Album is Futuristic Yours Truly 2095 is About Romance with a Robot like The Movie ",Cherry 2000" which became A Cult Classic
It is Kelly Groucutt.
A few recommendations to consider.
1. One Summer Dream. Album: Face TheMusic
2. Blown Away
Album: Armchair Theater
3. Do Ya
Album: New World Record
4. Stepping Out
Jungle & Wild West Hero
Album: Out Of The Blue
5. Getting To The Point
Album: Balance Of Power
How brave are you guys? After ELO there came ELO Part 2 with no Jeff Lynne. One of there songs was 1000 Eyes, check that one out and I think you will be positively 😊 surprised
one of the few songs, I'll actually sing along with.
It's Jeff Lynne singing....and he's disappointed at what his town has become 100+ years in the future.
"Wild West Hero" by ELO is another one you might want to react to, because there aren't many videos where people are reacting to that.
It's worth mentioning that the album has a time travel theme.
Smokie, living next door to Alice in the verses
DOH sound like Abba........its jeff lynne singing
It is Jeff no doubt hello lead singer
OF COURSE IT'S JEFF LYNNE.
Please guys, I really apreciate how much u like ELO, one of my favs bands since I was a teenager, but if u really have to pause the video, that I understand, just please, please, please, when u start it back, do it 5 sec back. ;)
Y❤
It is Jeff Lynne singing
Listent to( Caught In A trap) ..ELO let's see if I get ignored ..!
The lead singer of ELO is the one and only Jeff Lynne ❤
It is Jeff
the song 2095
@TylerCreatesContent Please react to Lucas Inutilismo - 2022 em uma música 🇧🇷 ♥️ 🇧🇷 ♥️ 🇧🇷 ♥️
You're not fully appreciating the concept of the album - The central protagonist all through the album is a man from 1981 displaced in time (presumably to 2095 given that song title) and all these songs (except "Hold On Tight" which seems to have nothing to do with the rest of the album) are in one way or another are about the culture shock he's feeling and his longing for the time he came from. All of these kinda "weird" things make sense once you hear them in the context of the concept.
But of course it's Jeff Lynne 🙂 For me, it's one of the few ELO songs I don't like. It sounds too much like "Mexican Girl" by Smokie for me. Too schlager-esque. Poor me I know 🙂
I do enjoy your reviews but given the number of tracks you’ve reviewed from Time and the comments previously posted on other tracks it’s a shame that you haven’t worked out it’s an album about a time traveler and your reviews don’t reflect that.
Life meant to be in Hell !!!!!!
