Thanks for the shout out. I'm now 60 and ELO got me through my teen years back in the day.
"The music is reversible but time is not. Turn back, Turn back, Turn back, Turn back."
Jeff Lynne never fails to surprise. Excellent Track.
Bev Bevan's drumming is superb in this.
Jeff sure knows how to open an album.
I was like that Shnordy. I'm 57 now and Face The Music was the first ELO album that I heard (my older brother had it on cassette). Anyway,I'd get home from school and this album was something I would listen to often. I love this album and I love Fire On High (Bev's drumming is superb too. He had that "power drum" sound that would be more used by the metal bands in the 80's). Fire On High and the beautiful One Summer Dream are my favourites but the album is so good from beginning to end.
I.e "I was like that" - meaning that ELO also helped get me through my teen years as well. :)
And yes,Jeff sure knows how to open an album.
Marisa's mouth is just open in amazement.
the drummer on this is exceptional
That would be Bev Bevan formally of The Move
Watching Marisa's face light up was worth the price of admission all by itself. Great reaction, to an iconic song. This is actually your 3rd song from, Face The Music: *"Fire On High",* *"Nightrider",* and, *"Strange Magic".* Tyler, you interpreted the album title, with its electric chair cover art/photo correctly, it means to face the music, or to pay the consequences of one's actions/words. Having said that, there's no such permeating theme through the LP, it is not a concept album. Also Tyler, whatever you did to address the audio, it worked. Sounded great. Well done, it makes a big difference with respect to our enjoyment of the songs. So whaddya say, are you two ready for what many consider as Jeff's magnum opus, the concept album, Eldorado?!? If so, remember that your 1st reaction would include the first two tracks, *"Eldorado Overture",* and, *"Can't Get It Out of My Head".* And also, you will both need to read the lyrics as you listen to the songs, and then analyze them in your reaction. Whatever you miss, or misunderstand, we'll fill you in with in the Comments sections. But ya gotta try to analyze them, as that's the whole point of doing the album's tracks sequentially, to understand the concept behind the whole album, permeating it, as the story develops track by track by track. Are you ready?? :D
I just wanted to say after abba , my next love in the 70’s was ELO so really pleased you reviewed this amazing track. Remember this was early / mid 70’s so I think the engineer and arrangers on this including Louis Clark’s strings were amazing for the time period. They wouldn’t have had unlimited tracks like now so some of the effects and probably bounces between what 16 maybe 24 tracks were incredible . I used to listen to this track in the dark on my dads super massive stereo and put it on loud, especially when my parents were out. I d be playing the drums, that crazy fast acoustic and singing with the choir. Tremendous record. Well done guys . I love your taste !
@@marksharmanmusic1 Yes, this song definitely had to be cranked all the way up! lol
I have to agree. "Eldorado" was the first ELO album where Jeff was the sole songwriter and producer and got to flex his musical chops sans Roy Wood.
He basically pick up the musical reigns and ran with it.
What a beautiful job he did.
"Eldorado Overture" and "Can't Get It Out of My Head" are a great choice adding more evidence to how good Jeff Lynne is with opening an album.
@@Shnordy Actually, Shnordy, Jeff was the sole songwriter and producer on all but the band's first album. Eldorado is their 4th.
@@Cosmo-Kramer Technically you are correct but, I read somewhere a long time ago that he still had "influences" from other band members on the first three.
I could be wrong. I wasn't there.
When all the children of the 60s, 70s, and 80s pass on, I hope that future generations will carry this music that I grew up with and loved, into the future. "The music is reversible, but time is not".
You may want to consider “Eldorado Overture” and “Can’t Get It Out Of My Head” combo next. They’re connected songs (Overture is an intro) that must be heard together. “Can’t Get” is sublime and ELO’s first gold hit single.
Yep I did a cover of that song it was so fun . Love it .
This song is high commercial art and has a fascinating history coming at a time when Jeff perfected the ELO formula. It’s still played on Classic Rock format radio and at sports events today.
Bev Bevan’s drumming is awesome on this track. I bought the album on release and loved it. There’s no theme to the album but there are some beautiful ballads on it that I’m sure you’ll get to. Loved your reaction btw.
masterpiece
On a turntable, it's easy to play a record backwards. In the 70s and 80s (and probably even today) there was a conspiracy theory that a lot of rock music carried subliminal messages that were purported to be evil. So, ELO with this in mind, deliberately included a backwards message as a joke.
That was Secret Messages
Loved the reaction we go from horror movie soundtrack to flamenco funk it’s an amazing instrumental and so great you both loved it
I think part of this ended up as the intro to Wide World of Sports (or something like that).I remember that guitar solo and a guy falling down downhill skiing. Also, Marisa looked that that deaf toddler who got some kind of implant and heard his mom for the first time. Awesomely genuine response!
CBS Sports Spectacular.
I always wondered whether Jeff was from outer space ❤️
Well...he is out of this world! 😊❤
@@unrulyjulie4382 He came from out of nowhere....
@@hadavisjrfrom out of the blue
Backward masked vocals "The music is reversible, but time is not. Turn back, turn back, turn back, turn back".
Yes, but there are 4 "turn back" lines.
@@Cosmo-Kramer Corrected
This song is like a rollercoaster ride!
The last choir part is getting clearer in their singing "Fire on High, Fire on High, Fire on High"
I always love watching young people discover this epic music.
So this song contains a backwards masking track. If you had a turntable you would be able to play the record the opposite direction to hear the message. If i remember correctly it was: Our music is reversible but time is not, turn back, turn back, turn back. 😅
The more you hear this the better it gets and the more you notice
Loved your reaction to this one. It's a brilliant opening to the album. I'd recommend continuing through this album. The next two tracks are great, Waterfall and Evil Woman, so keep going! Looking forward to it. 🙂
I always loved how FOH is followed by _Waterfall_ and I'd suggest including like the last 15 seconds of FOH if they react to _Waterfall_ next.
@@lhpl Yes Ihpl. That interlude is beautiful
First album from ELO I bought was A New World Record after being blown away from hearing it for the first time. I followed up with getting Out of the Blue before wanting to know how they got to this point. I knew of The Move and early ELO singles so it was great to trace them back. Loved Eldorado and Face The Music. On The Third Day was also very interesting with the brilliant Daybreaker. Everything previous to these were very experimental especially with Roy Wood's involvement, but you can see how they progressed by listening to the albums in chronological order. Thanks for the posting this video 😊
Evil woman is for sure the next song you guys need to hear!
This was the very first album I bought. No regrets.
This was actually sort of a prelude for the record. an Instrumental preface.
Note of Trivia...The fast guitar part in the middle was used in the late 1970's as the theme opening tune for the ABC Sunday program called the (Wide World of Sports)
Actually, it was for a rival Saturday sports show called, *CBS Sports Spectacular.*
They used to play the scary beginning part on black light/strobe light carnival rides at the state fair. (The gravitron where you get inside and it spins and you are stuck to the wall.) You got scared because of the music then the ride started and the real fear took over.
Great reaction! Try "Poker" and "One Summer Dream" from the same album.
Great choice 👍
OMG i was so scared of this as a preteen. Yet fascinated
Such a brilliant track!
Why did you stop reacting to this album? Think you should return to it once you have finished Eldorado. 🙂
This album marked the end of the Progressive Rock phase for Electric Light Orchestra before Jeff Lynne moved them towards a more Pop/Classic/Rock sound then disco, soundtrack, Sci-Fi and on...
Moved with the times
The way she was just in shock and awe was amazing! Incredible song! There’s even sorta a story you can piece together from the song...
Please do Waterfall next!
Loved yours and Marisa’s reaction:) I just wanted to say after abba , my next love in the 70’s was ELO so really pleased you reviewed this amazing track. Remember, this was 1975, so I think the engineer and arrangers on this including Louis Clark’s strings were amazing for the time period. They wouldn’t have had unlimited tracks like now so some of the effects and probably bounces between what 16 maybe 24 tracks were incredible, as well as some of the warping/ flange type sound effects. I used to listen to this track in the dark on my dads super massive stereo and put it on loud, especially when my parents were out. I d be playing the drums, that crazy fast acoustic and singing with the choir. Tremendous record. Well done guys . I love your taste !
Thanks for the new ELO song! But please play: ....Hello my old friend..... from 1983!!
Around the White Album period (and beyond), the Beatles loved to smash three or four somewhat unrelated music ideas together into an integrated whole. Happiness is a Warm Gun, A Day in the Life, Side 2 of Abbey Road, Band on the Run...
This sounds like straight out of a castlevania soundtrack
I think it‘s too short! 😂 The only right comment on this!
That choir chorus was so sweet. I would have given it a few more bars at the end.
Another great ELO instrumental is Daybreaker
AND THEN IT GOES INTO ( EVIL WOMAN ) YOU GUYS! 😊PRETTY AWESOME!
Great reaction! You didn’t even mention the fact that it was more of an instrumental with no lyrics besides the choir. I would continue down the Face the Music path and at least hit the highlights left on it. Next would be their smash hit Evil Woman, you already covered the hit Strange Magic so finish with the closer One Summer Dream.
Dont forget their final albums from in 83 86.
Those weren't the final albums
She's right it's too short.
She should listen to Eldorado the album
You’ve got to react to Evil Woman from the same album. One of ELO’ s greatest songs
My ring tone for my ex-wife. I react each time I hear it ;)
🤘🤘😝😝🤘🤘
Great reaction. Keep smilin'. There is a backwards message in the intro. Something like "You can turn the music back, but you can't turn back time". Then, "Turn back, turn back, ... over and over.
The music is reversible but time is not...Turn back...
The lyrics in the beginning are " lyrics can be rewound, time can't, rewind , rewind , rewind" played backwards
Listen to one summer dream it is off this same album
The intro was done like that as a big group of people was saying one of their songs was satanic so he was playing a joke on them by doing it.
Thanks, Marissa! Thanks, Tyler! 🔥 I love how delightfully strange their older stuff is. #TylerCreatesContent #TCCReacts #ELO #ElectricLightOrchestra #FireOnHigh
Jeff Lynne has made a small fortune licensing his music to sports networks.
The intro sounds like early Pink Floyd. The ending sounds like the High Chaparral. 👍
Just check out the back cover of this album. I think it sums it up!
If no one else has mentioned it, the vocals at the beginning are backmasking. Played backwards it says something. They did lots of that, especially on the Secret Messages album. It was a big deal for awhile, even J. Geils Band did it in their song "No Anchovies Please."
Looking at the list of your songs you've already done....it looks like you havent done "Telephone Line" yet..... if not, you must do it, this is one of their mega hits, top 10 in the UK and the US....
Try eldorado and finale.
This was a B side to the first ELO single i ever bought called Living Thing
I a curious why you enjoyed "Fire On High" by not so much "Standing in the Rain."
Hi, friends, muy buena reacción también. De ese álbum peguen justo al blanco con *EVIL WoMAN* una canción Top10 alrededor del Mundo en los Charts
Greeting from Chile 🇨🇱 País que ustedes deben visitar.
ESTAMOS LLENOS DE DELINCUENTES , MEJOR AHORA NO
Am feeling slightly embarrassed that only til I watched this and looked long and hard at the album cover, did I notice the letters ELO as the "marquees." 😬
I love the electric guitar solos in Fire on High. ♥ But the rest of the song, not so much.
THIS WAS ALWAYS MY FAVORITE ALBUM ( FACE THE MUSIC ) OF THEIRS YOU GUYS😊THE 2 BIGGGGG HITS WERE : EVIL WOMAN & STRANGE MAGIC😊 YESSSSS, IT'S CALLED EARLYYYYY E.L.O.
Evil Woman is another good one from Face The Music and probably one of their greatest hits that I think you guys should do. Other than that I think I still think you guys need to start Eldorado with Eldorado Overture/Can’t get it out of my head together!
Agree with Eldorado Overture/Can’t get it out of my head, and/or Evil WOman
It's "one oh five three eight" Overture. The digits are even said that way in the song. And there's nothing wrong with that song. There must have been something wrong with your sound system, your headphones or somewhere inbetween.
The music is reversible, but time is not.. turn back, turn back turn back
This track was written to represent the climb from hell to heaven eventually reaching the Fire on High.
The backward speaking was a dig at fundamentalist religious groups who thought ELO's music was for devil worship.
Jeff has a very British sense of humour.
Yes, you 100% get it! It's also representative of Elijah on Mount Carmel.
This is kind of their only song without major vocals. It has background only and starts out kind of like a horror movie intro and then moves you around until it gets lighter and more enlightened. ELO really made you think and want to listen to the entire album once you put it on the turntable. Suggest you do that on your own just to feel it and see where it takes you.
Daybreaker from their third album is also an instrumental song
@@pablomets I did say kind of so...yeah 🙂I don't have all of their albums or CDs of all of their albums so don't get to listen to every song anymore and well, but thanks for posting for others to see. I believe this one is on their greatest hits CD that I have which is usually what I pop in on road trips.
The Whale has no vocals at all
you talking running it, lol

Just found your channel due to this song. If you want to hear the lyrics reversed:
ruclips.net/video/lzmeKHv5k3o/видео.html
OR if you want to hear the entire song backwards:
ruclips.net/video/dN_M4AHvmxs/видео.html
The music is indeed somewhat reversable.
I really don't care about your opinion!
