    Yours Truly, 2095
    Electric Light Orchestra
    I love you, sincerely
    Yours truly, yours truly...
I sent a message to another time
But as the days unwind, this I just can't believe
I sent a note across another plane
Maybe it's all a game, but this I just can't conceive.
    Can you hear me?
I drive the very latest hovercar
I don't know where you are
But I miss you so much till then
I met someone who looks a lot like you
She does the things you do
    But she is an ibm.
    I love you, sincerely
    Yours truly, yours truly...
Shes only programmed to be very nice
But she's as cold as ice
    Whenever I get too near
She tells me that she likes me very much
But when I try to touch
She makes it all too clear.
She is the latest in technology
    Almost mythology
But she has a heart stone
She has an i.q. of 1001
    She has a jumpsuit on
    And she's also a telephone.
    I love you, sincerely
    Yours truly, yours truly...
Is that what you want? (is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want? (is it what you really want?)
Is that what you want? (is it what you want?)
Is it what you really want?
I realize that it must seem so strange
    That time has rearranged
But time has the final word
She knows I think of you, she reads my mind
    She tries to be unkind
She knows nothing of our world
    Although her memory banks overflow
    No one would ever know
For all she says: is that what you want?
Maybe one day I'll feel her cold embrace
    And kiss her interface
Til then, I'll leave her alone.
    I love you, sincerely
    Yours truly, yours truly...

I don't think it's just any robot. From what I understand, it's an android in the image of a loved one (wife, gf? - "she looks a lot like you, she does the things you do") that I guess the future society built for him to alleviate his lonelyness. But when he tries to have a profound relationship with the android and get affection, he realises the android isn't at all like his actual loved one and her love is superficial and she's cold (Shes only programmed to be very nice/But she's as cold as ice.

But when I was 15, in 1976, I read the book 1984, and it blew me away, and it was really weird that it was only 8 years out. As it turned out, there was a bit of 1984 going on when we reached 1984. But in 2021, there's a whole lot of 1984 going on. Orwell wasn't wrong, he just underestimated when it would hit.

So, tell your child to enjoy the journey of life as much as possible, to be an honest, respectful, hard-working and brave person, but above all stoic.
And tell him also that even if the moment comes when you are no longer with him physically by his side. That you will be proud of how little or how much he has achieved and what he has lived.
And that your love, support and spirit, will continue with him until the end. And don't forget to give him a hug from time to time as time flies.
Words that he will need later because of how dark things look today.
I wish you health and I thank those who gave me their attention to read this comment.

this song particularly stuck with me when i first heard it. i was going through the most darkest and difficult time in my life, and while riding in my moms car, this song came on. i like to listen to this song now to look back how far ive come, and how much things have changed for me. i try to remember the things i had to go through specifically but my mind wont allow it. its all just a general blur, my brain is like "yeah, those were terrible times".

Who knows if they might already be here. The scientists/doctors in Switzerland who cloned the sheep were asked if they would ever clone humans. Their answer was a stark: How do you know we haven't already done so? Never trust anybody. The X- Files said The Truth Is Out There. I just don't expect anybody to ever tell us what it it.

my english teacher from i believe 9th grade showed me this and it’s literally burnt into my brain ever since then 😂 it’s been about 9 years since then so it was kind of an odd song to choose for an english lesson in germany but he wanted us to talk about future technologies or something and then he asked us: „is that what you
want?!“ good old times, best wishes to Mr. Erwin Netzer ❤️‍🔥

I remember the TIME when I was listening to the album. To be precise, the first time I heard the ELO lyrics was back in 1983, and that album was TIME released in 1981. Now times are different, however, their message sent in "Yours Truly, 2095" applies to our modern, and maybe the future days as well. So I decided to leave a trace by writing a small blog on the eponymous website.
