  • Carving and printing "Last Guardian"
Drawn in Procreate. transferred to the lino block (Forbo Walton soft grey linoleum) using a transfer marker (see previous video)
I covered the block with a wash of acrylic ink and water. This isn't a necessary step as the transfer doesn't smudge as easily as it would with carbon paper. However, I didn't want to risk any smudging during the carving and making the block darker allows me to see the carved parts better because of the contrast.
The carving tools I'm using in this video are Flexcut (Micro Palm Set)
The brayer (roller) is a Japanese soft rubber brayer
    The press is from @theportableprintingpressco.
The ink is black Caligo Safe wash from Cranfield colours.
The paper I used for these prints is handmade Himalayan hemp paper 60gsm. I've also printed a version with very narrow edges on Silberburg paper 110gsm, which you can find in my Etsy shop along with this one.

The picture looks incredibly difficult to see once rhe India ink has been put on. What is the benefit of using the ink wash over carving just the transfered imagine?

It's just helpful in the sense that you see better what you have carved as you make your way through it. But I agree, it makes it more difficult to see the image and I've actually only applied the ink wash a couple of times, I prefer to work without it.

Look for the previous video "linocut printing -super easy transfer method". All the info about that transfer method is in the description.
