    WOW!! You guys are the best!! Seriously, I am overwhelmed with the love shown over the course of the past two weeks. This channel was sitting dead for three years and now it's just exploded in the past 2.5 weeks once I decided to get it going again. I couldn't do it without you. I try to respond to comments in every video, but I can't get to them all. And for that, I apologize. I will try to do weekly live Q&As to give you guys some time to aske me further questions. I appreciate you all!

    When you're shoulder is directly over/infront of the bar with locked elbows, it dictates where your hips should be. As long as you remember that, you have 1 less step to worry about.

      But why do powerlifters say to bring the hips closer to the bar which puts their shoulders directly above the bar? I did it exactly like you described all the months before which worked fine. Then I listened to the youtubers, brought my hips closer to the bar which put my shoulders above the bar and my torso more upright = sharp tweak in my lower back and immediately dropped on my knees.
      I don’t know anymore either I am doing it wrong or their advice is not good

    theres one thing in perticular that ive NEVER heard in a dead tutorial before, 6:15 push the bar away from you, ive never thought about this but this insures your elbows are locked but MORE IMPORTANTLY that your chest is starting as high up as possible, simulating a block pull even when youre pulling from the floor.

    Would like to see your opinion on Eddie Hall’s deadlift tutorial video. As a long legged lifter, I always tried a narrower stance but felt it hard to get my hips through at lockout and put too much pressure on my hamstrings and low back. Some of his advice honestly helped me out with a slightly wider stance, chin against the chest and treating it like a leg press were clutch. Regardless of his status on the lift, would actually like to see another high caliber specialist break his tutorial down.

      Yeah seems theres many different opinions

    • @brute633
      @brute633 2 года назад +3

      In my opinion there is no one size fits all deadlift form. Hip, back, and shoulder width can vary immensely, as well as limb lengths. I think it's all about finding a starting position that allows you to get as freakishly tight and compact as possible. Just like everyone can and should be able to perform a squat, not everybody is going to look the same whjle doing it. I've also bulked to 298lbs, one thing I've noticed is the heavier I get, my stance gets wider and I point my toes out a bit more. Go check out my deadlift progression video and then watch one of my more recent heavy pulls, my technique has changed and improved a lot over the years.

    Andy bolton teaches to have your shins touch the bar when starting so I think it just depends on your style. You have forward knee bend over the toe, depending on some peoples biomechanics, they may benefit from keeping the hips further back and doing more hip hinge than squatting at the bottom

    I discovered the narrow stance dead lift a little while ago, and once I did, my weights just started going up, it seems I'm stronger and can get a better leg drive with the narrow stance and helps with the hip thrust at lock out. I do need to work on the arm positioning you're talking about as when I get heavier on my weights, I tend to not let my arms work as cables like they are supposed to, but end up flexing them quite a bit.

I was thinking about trying the tip mentioned in this video on Monday when I go back to the gym and see if I can get leg drive in my deadlift. Even with my current lousy deadlift setup I can pull 345lbs for 5 reps for multiple sets which isn't bad but it could be better.

      If my answer is worth anything to you most people will benefit from a belt on deadlifts although some people prefer not to use it. Krzysztof Wierbicki doesn't use one and he pulled 502.5 kg so clearly it can be done.

    thanks pete, gonna go get some good straps and slightly raise my DL volume. Also going to try the trick with setting my elbows first to create tension in my arm being straight (like at 5:40) .

    Good tutorial. Do you know that's how Strongman Nick Best deadlifts? I do it also, deadlifts have come way up just switching stance

    Can’t wait to see a hook grip tutorial, I have a feeling I’m doing something wrong but I think it might have to do with my right arm being slightly shorter than my left idk if you have any advice for asymmetries
