Slowdive is one of the prominent band in the world of shoegaze. They have such a unique sound, however this album lacks variety. Not their most ambitious work, but there are few beautiful gems on here.

I just finished listening to their full discography (souvlaki -> just for a day -> ST).
I remember how impressed I was when first listening to Just for a day, it was exactly the sound I was looking for and this was exactly what i would’ve done with souvlaki... BUT after a couple of songs you realize that the sound stays the same and every songs kind of have the same feeling. And this was a huge turn off and kind of killed how impressed and happy I was. Very good tho!

I think the issue with this album is it wasn’t cohesive and there are too many songs that do actually sound very similar. It’s not to say the tracks on this album are bad just needed to be trimmed down and better production that’s all
Imho this album really suffers from wrong production, since it sounds like toy keyboard sunk in rather than guitar driven (which they always do live).
Thus hits like Catch the breeze are totally different from solid live performances.

BS! This is their most consistent record and blows souvlaki out of the water! Souvlaki had its guitars neutered by the producer and an inconsistent album in my opinion.
