Thank you SO MUCH for this! My 98 year old father couldn't find a coat to fit his precious Shih Tzu, and I found your video, and made it in an hour! Both Dad and dog are thrilled! You are awesome!
This was such a lovely idea! Definitely going to make one for my Siberian Husky except at the back insert a small pouch so i can put ice in the hot weather! Basically a cool coat!
Turned out really cute! My husband thought it was great =) on Foster, of course. I added 1" to the sides and 1/2" to the length and that fit him perfectly. Thanks again, I'll share this on my FB page when he stands still long enough for me to get a picture, LOL>
I found this because I would like to make upcycled dogs jackets, from donated unwanted clothing, for UK rescues and the romanian shelter I support. I love this! Thank you so much :) x
Thank you for the video. I've been looking for a pattern for my girlfriend's dog and I think this will work well. He's an odd shape (huge chest, short body) we haven't been able to find a coat that properly fit.
Brilliant tutorial, I can't wait to go ahead and make my spainel cross a drying coat or outdoor coat. I would like to make a bigger chest/belly band to keep him more dry, not worked out how to do that yet. Thank you for the video x
I tried to make coats last year from a pattern I bought - they stayed warm, but it wasn't pretty. One day I came out and a police car was on the street with 2 policemen inside, window down, pointing at one of them - the driver said they were very fashionable. Probably drove off and said those poor dogs must be the joke of the neighborhood. They are just outside a couple of times a day, so I'm doing 2 layers of fleece for a warm coat. If this turns our well, they'll get rain coats, too. I actually feel like I can do it this time.
Love it! Been looking for ages for an acceptable coat for my Sally (Doberman/Amstaff mix) since the Swedish winter is quite harsh on her (especially her belly area), not having an undercoat. I looked at several models and found an almost perfect fit made by "Rukka" for our Scandinavian climate, almost being the keyword. I decided I can do better myself and you got my inspiration flowing, thank you. Loving the quilted look, very adult and fashionable, always in style.
How many yards of fabric did you use and what where your meserments? My dogs are are between 60 and 70lbs so they will need a bit larger jacket then what you did.
I love your lesson and your teaching I already have an old jacket that was my Grandsons and he wants me to make his dog A JACKET FROM HIS COAT--- I sure will try thanks for all your help. keep up the good work P.G.

Well that's right we have one boy one girl pugs and Bertie aka the boy is really large like wide fitted so we have to find custom harnesses for him but Betsy the girl just fits normally she isn't wide as him lol x

Please do not put your dogs name on his coat because that it the quickest way to have your dog stolen.
Don't put your child's name on anything that can be seen for the same reason.
