Instead of FIGHTING Afro for the Headband like everyone else, this dude politely asked for it. He was also notably the only one of the Empty Seven not only to be this peaceful in his attempt to get the Headband, but also the only one to still be alive. An anime takes 100k to almost 200k per episode on average. Costs don't mean much if the team isn't given the time to work on it. Ufotable is known to be the "unlimited budget works" company because, apart from having a separate 3D team, they take their time animating. You can definitely see the difference in animation and even frames in stuff they took longer to make compared to rushed stuff.

It makes sense why all of Afro's friends want to make him a pack. He caused everything that happened in the flashback, but no one was gonna get in the way of Afro. In the video game ending, like in the manga, Justice was already dead when Afro found him. However, Afro fought Justice in his mind showing how insane Afro was. During the fight, Justice tells him that Afro choose to get revenge and throwing away his only chance for a normal life. Afro samurai aesthetics will always get me how they managed to blend the eras. Didn't bat an eye when samurai having straps and a crossbow with a grenade launcher
The Afro Samurai anime was a creative collaboration between Samuel L. Jackson, Takashi Okazaki, and Gonzo, with the music scored by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan.
It's nice that the anime gave Afro the revenge he deserved. If I recall correctly in the manga, Justice basically went off to become a God by having making his own religion with followers, rather than obtaining Godlike powers. When Afro finally confronted and stabbed him, we find out that he was long dead and turned to dust. RIP Kotaro too.
Speaking of badass Samurai. I need to see more of these fellas talked about. Mugen has been on the Roundtable fsince the start and the less we say about the one named Jack the be- you know actually scratch that we don't talk enough about Jack, that man is a demon.
You think anime Afro was cold, manga Afro was downright evil. In that fight against Shichiguro, the manga pivots to showing a guy and his disabled sister and their argument about the guy going off to the festival. The guy decides to go even though his sister really doesn't want him to cause she's worried about him, and is there in the middle of the fight between Afro and the discount foot clan, and Afro uses the guy as a human shield and the guy is promptly and violently sliced apart. The guy's DISABLED sister who crawls all the way there grabs Afro's leg crying about how could he do that to her brother, and Afro tosses her out in front of the foot clan's leader (who isn't in the anime) who's firing his minigun just to to draw the guy's fire away, and she's torn apart by minigun fire. There was a scene in the movie you didn't bring up where a disabled group of people who were being cared for by....I think it was Otsuru? They show up because they're angry with Afro and it looks like they want to pick a fight with him because they believe he's responsible for her death, but then get scared and decide not to, and Afro leaves them alone. In the manga, the woman he was with was a random woman who was part of a new cult that worshipped Justice. She was an ex-ninja who didn't want Afro to kill Justice because apparently....Justice had ushered in a new peace? She was caring for the elderly and the infirm in here village, and those guys absolutely adored her because she was so kind to them. Well, when Afro reveals that he's going to try to kill Justice, she decides to attack him and he kills her, then the old people show up, see her corpse and then rush him.....and he kills all the old people, when he really didn't have to since I'm fairly certain he could've just ran and left them.
The fact the studio that animated this was the same one that animated Transformers Cybertron is the funniest thing to me. Have the Director’s Cut on DVD. Got it for like $2 at the Salvation Army.
I remember Afro Samurai was the first anime I've ever sat down to watch fully. I was raised listing to Big L, Big Pun, and Wu Tang Clan, so this was a must see for me. 10/10 hands down my favorite anime ive seen since.
Afro Samurai is when the protagonist grew to be just as ruthless and brutal as the villains. The headbands turned their wearers into monsters out of necessity or they will be killed.
What I find wild is that Ninja Ninja in the original comic was more so kinda like the spirit of the Number 2 headband, like. He had a tangible presence because the spirit of the number 1 headband was ALSO a thing. Though I do like how the anime/movie kinda makes it ambiguous.
When Afro lost the number 1 head band his mission to get it back it was no longer about vengeance. The movie showed Afro's character as more of an antagonist than a hero. Its time that they make Afro the antagonist and put him against adult Kotaro in a movie or three part OVA. It been over 16 years. I think this would be more anticipated than the Junji Ito's Uzumaki that's been delayed over and over.
I don't see him being shown as more of a antagonist in the movie. He was literally chilling and got dragged back into battlefield by jumping him and dragging him down a mountain and stealing his dad.
@@MrHinishiokami Well the number 1 headband restored order or so the wearer of it was supposed to. Thats why justice was collecting ALL the headbands. And in the manga, justice created a somewhat stable society before they died and things reset

CJ, you never disappoint. Afro was one of the best characters I've ever seen. The story doesn't shy away from the fact that he's not the best person. But overall, the story is amazing! I always hoped for a part 3, after Resurrection, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Wanted to mention that Justice is voiced by Ron Pearlman, you know the voice of a certain member of the black Air Force round table. Thanks for bringing us such phenomenal content Cj and thank you for giving me this nostalgia.
Seeing Afro perpetuate this cycle of violence makes me so much more proud of Kratos. We really do have to be better and stop the cycle
"we must stop the recycle of violence" -internet historian
actually Afro tried to stop until home girl resurrected his father just to torture him.
@@Akachi_ The whole situation still all originated from him pursing vengeance for his Father against Justice and killing his Master ( and inadvertently getting his adopted family and friends killed) to achieve it.
OH NO HE ENEDED IT. He ended it in the WORST way possible
What kind of comment is that? What does Kratos have to do with afro?
Saddest part of Afro getting the number 2 when he killed his master... His master didn't try to actually fight back. He hoped Afro would choose to move on. But he couldn't.😢😢😢
Afro samurai and The Boondocks are prime examples if you let brothas create an anime with no restrictions
Afro samurai creator Japanese, lol I kno the art style similar but yea different creators

No lies, seeing such quality animation made by blacks made me a little bit less racist.
Just to give context to him killing Kotaro, the sad/fucked-up fact about it is that he didn't mean to kill him. At all. He was going let that boy cut his head off but he decapitated him instead out of pure reflex and didn't even realize it. And in the manga, Afro is not only a worse demon than in the anime, but he doesn't even get his revenge because Justice was already by the time he found him. So, he murdered and betrayed everyone he ever loved for nothing.
just because of this comment I went and watched the Anime, movie, and read the manga just to figure out what you meant yeah you right
Honestly him never getting revenge makes a better tragic story.
That's also the ending they went with in the Afro Samurai video game, but he still gets a Hallucinatory/Inner-Self battle with Justice.
@@tonts5329this has a game? Wow
@@CatManOfTaste Oh yeah it came out way back in the PS3 era, before trophy support was a thing. And then there was a planned episodic sequel. 'Rise of Kuma?' I think, but the first part was so bad and recieved so negatively they canned the game completly.
For those wondering, in the actual show, Brother 3 (with the headphones) was actually repeating "Hachimaki o kudasai," which is Japanese for "Headband, please." Instead of FIGHTING Afro for the Headband like everyone else, this dude politely asked for it.
He was also notably the only one of the Empty Seven not only to be this peaceful in his attempt to get the Headband, but also the only one to still be alive. Afro decided to spare him and ignore his request simply because Brother 3 never wanted to take his life -- and despite his coldness, he didn't want to needlessly kill him either. (Hilariously, Ninja Ninja ate the tea and rice crackers that Brother 3 offered Afro 😂)
I'm pretty sure brother 1 lived through the first movie, albeit with a piss pouch and no real ability to speak. He might have died in the second movie. I can't remember.
What show

Agree 10000%
Maaan I ain't never gonna get how they managed to make this whole show look consistently amazing. This is what adult animation should look close to
They spent about 1 million dollars per episode. It's much easier to make things that level of quality when you throw money at it
@@ZauzzieLmaooo definitely was money laundering
@@londonwiggins441 how do you figure that? Do you know how much it cost to animate the cleanly? And how much it cost to higher Samuel l Jackson to voice something?
An anime takes 100k to almost 200k per episode on average. Costs don't mean much if the team isn't given the time to work on it. Ufotable is known to be the "unlimited budget works" company because, apart from having a separate 3D team, they take their time animating. You can definitely see the difference in animation and even frames in stuff they took longer to make compared to rushed stuff.
@@londonwiggins441 Nope, they most probably loan and pray it will be a hit.
Afro sitting by himself at the roundtable. Almost like everyone else are like, "stay away from that one. He is an absolute menace."
Except Dio, Buu and Anos. Dio and Buu did such crazy sh*t that Afro would like them and Anos could just one tap him, and he also would be around the same level as Afro

It makes sense why all of Afro's friends want to make him a pack. He caused everything that happened in the flashback, but no one was gonna get in the way of Afro.
Also, the ending is exactly what Justice's monologue was about at the end of Exhibit A.
"Your little anger is just a sea spray of blood in the endless ocean of this world's killing. It's got no end and no beginning. Just the strong and the dead. Only cursed ones like you and I can stomach this truth."
one of my favorite things with Afro Samurai is that when Justice and Afro become number one, they fully understand that with all the bloodshed, someone's kid is gonna come for them in the future

Damn, this show is 16 years old and that animation STILL holds up goddamn.
And again, the music use in these videos NEVER fucking misses I swear to god. Every time the fuckin Dilemma "~oh~" came in I lost my shit.

What i love about Afro Samurai is the Animation still holds up till this day.
Good animation always holds up. There's animation from the 70s and 80's that still looks great
Afro Samurai is so underrated especially with the score done by RZA
Watching the production of the soundtrack on Afro samurai made me hate AI art even more seeing how Rza drew from hanging with system of down and how Afro justice and his father show the changing of eras through musical motifs
the fact dj barnacle noodle was voiced by RZA

Afro Samurai is without a doubt one of thee most underrated gems that I feel like not a lot people know about or does not give the show any credit it deserves glad you made a video for our boy

In the video game ending, like in the manga, Justice was already dead when Afro found him. However, Afro fought Justice in his mind showing how insane Afro was. During the fight, Justice tells him that Afro choose to get revenge and throwing away his only chance for a normal life. Justice said he fought his father in a one-on-one duel and Afro's anger, obsession, and revenge made Justice, ironically, Afro's God.
The game is so underrated.
@@williedee259 Wish they gave us the spin off story video game of Jinno. The manga, the anime, and the video game told us different versions of Afro and how he dealt with Justice. The video game had a better story since the real enemy at the end was Afro's obsession and revenge and consequences he caused.
I wish the second game was done with the love the first got. Kumas Revenge was aaaaassssss
@@williedee259 It would give us a different character besides Afro. See how Kumas' recovering and also training to be Afro's level.
I remember Afro's dad tried to tell Afro before he died was not to avenged him, but live his own life. Afro was a tragic character and sadly driven mad that he went through all of this for nothing.
I would have like to see Kuma's story after surviving his fight with Afro.
The ending of Resurrection ties the whole thing back together, and honestly, it became one of my most favorite moments in all of anime
Ninja Ninja might be the only character where CJ's voiceover actually matches how the character sounds in the show lol.

The art style for the anime is just PERFECT.
The dynamic of afro becoming the person who killed his dad is crazy

The two things that I love about Afro Samurai is:
A) The headband doesn’t give the wearer any power or special ability it’s just a piece of cloth
B) In the manga Afro just finds Justices corpse at the end meaning everything that he has done was for nothing

THE BOY IS BACK TO BRING US LAUGHTER AND COMEDY!!!
23:11 mf recreated his OWN backstory to that kid 😭
God damn
Dammn
Man's was a menace to the core
damn. nobody is safe
Afro is a good boy who didnt do nuthin
Fun sad fact: In the manga the kid actually goes to get revenge on Afro after years of looking for him and Afro kills him
Yeah he mentions that at the end. Wild shit.
Afro wasn't even _awake_ when he killed that kid! He actually wanted to die, but his body refused.
Afro might actually be a contender for the chairman of the roundtable. Dio better be ready because Afro wants the smoke.
So what they don’t play any of those artists in. Afro samurai why even bring them up?
@@ijustbevibin0425 you do realize that that RZA & GZA were both involved in putting together the sound tracks for Afro Samurai Resurrection?
Afro Samurai is when the protagonist grew to be just as ruthless and brutal as the villains. The headbands turned their wearers into monsters out of necessity or they will be killed.
What I find wild is that Ninja Ninja in the original comic was more so kinda like the spirit of the Number 2 headband, like. He had a tangible presence because the spirit of the number 1 headband was ALSO a thing. Though I do like how the anime/movie kinda makes it ambiguous.
Afro Samurai has such clean animations and scenery shot like I’m watching moving art with hip hop tunes
He killed kotaro in the manga
I don't see him being shown as more of a antagonist in the movie. He was literally chilling and got dragged back into battlefield by jumping him and dragging him down a mountain and stealing his dad.
@@MrHinishiokami Well the number 1 headband restored order or so the wearer of it was supposed to. Thats why justice was collecting ALL the headbands. And in the manga, justice created a somewhat stable society before they died and things reset
