Zamasu didn't destroy all mortals just because of Goku, he had other reasons. But DBZ Broly literally did all of that JUST because of Goku crying as a kid lol. Z Broly is perhaps one of the biggest haters in anime, up there with Dio.

It's arguably crazier in the manga where Goku nearly control alt delted Fused Zamasu with a Hakai. It might've worked if he didn't take Future Mai to use as a hostage, forcing Goku to stop.

The fact Goku Black probably didn’t just destroy the planet and take the easy way out of killing all the mortals because he wanted to _personally_ do it himself.
He wants to kill mortals to create a beautiful world so it doesn't make sense for him to destroy worlds
It was explained in the manga that he wanted to preserve the planet itself because he respected its beauty. But he believed mortals were ruining its beauty with their violent and destroying the ecosystem. I don't remember if this was explained in the anime as well, but it was definitely stated in the manga.
What the anime DID explain is that Zamasu wanted to directly kill the mortals with Goku's body because by doing so, he was making up for the failures of the gods, while cleansing them of their mortal sins. So destroying the planet wouldn't be cleansing their sins as much as killing them personally and individually. Scary stuff tbh, this guy's ideology is so messed up but its what I love about Goku Black!

When they heard that Zeno had caught on to their plan, they decided to "stop playing around" and killed every remaining human on Earth (besides Trunks and Mai) within like 3 panels. They only kept them alive so Trunks would have something to fight for.
I think one of my favourite parts about Goku Black is that he shows just how terrifying goku would be if he was evil and how lucky everyone in dragonball is that goku was dropped on his head
Not exactly. Goku Black's training as a kai is what made him so strong and powerful. If Goku was evil, he wouldn't have access to Goku Black's god ki or ki-blade focused fighting style. An actual evil goku probably would've capped out at SSj3 level, because its been shown that only pure saiyans can ascend to god-hood.

I never realized how petty Zamasu was until watching this review. I knew he hated goku and mortals, but the man really committed multiversal genocide and killed family after losing a fight to him. Also, if there's at least one thing I would change about the Zamasu arc, I'd make it so that SSJB emerges in this arc and the prior arcs goku and vegeta are using the mastered version of SSJ God and SSJB should have emerged when Goku became enraged after Zamasu told him he killed his family just like when the original SSJ emerged after Frieza killed Krillin right in front of him.

They did his final act way different in the Manga, after getting cut in half he didn’t spread his essence throughout the universe, this man’s fused form freaking multiplied like a single cell organism. This man had hundreds of copies of his fused state ready to throw hands on Goku and Vegeta all at once before they got Zeno to ctrl al delete this man
I saw the manga was totally different and I could understand why they use the one in the anime, in a way it shows how powerful and how much of a menace zamasu became, but I like both ending acts
They were about to spin the block on Goku and Vegeta before he remembered to get Zeno to delete system32.
They were running concurrently so 🤷
In all fairness to Gowasu, he was legitimately *trying* to be a good teacher. He gave Zamasu the benefit of the doubt and tried to show him that nurturing and creating was a lot harder but more worthwhile than just destroying things he doesn't like.
Now, that's not to say he did a *good job* , since it should have been *obvious* that he needed to take a firmer approach with him when he started casually putting genocide on the table as a solution.
Also he willingly went to future trunks timeline to talk to Goku black zamasu
In the manga, he tried to fix his mistakes and reached his hand out to goku black, but then goku black grabbed his hand and sliced him through the chest.

Sometimes I forget that Zamasu won completely. They had to basically call in Zeno to delete that save file. There was really nothing they could do. His pettiness destroyed multiple universes and timelines over losing one sparring session with Goku.
When you think about it, he might have been even pettier than Eobard Thawne. One L and a multiverse along with that multiverse's timeline had to pay the price. The gods in that multiverse, dead. The kais, dead. The denizens of the afterlife of that multiverse, gone. The other lives there, dead. Like you said, it has to take Zeno to get called in to play, "Control, ALT, delete!" to stop him.

Goku black in the manga was even more unhinged and sadistic. He faked Gowasu out and stabbed that man in the stomach. He even joked about how many times he stabbed. Him. He even revealed the true reason Trunks lived, just to use him as a damn punching bag.

Zamasu comes to the conclusion that all sentient mortals are barbaric and violent and is frustrated by the Kais' refusal to stop them. His thought process for coming to this conclusion is shown extensively in the show through conversations with Gowasu, he considers his master's advice to the contrary but eventually solidifies his opinion and decides to fight for his utopia. "Gardens are tended, not just watched."
I love the development his character went through. Instead of being introduced as a fully fledegd evil dude, he is introduced as a conflicted dude who eventually becomes more and more radicalized as Gowasu and Goku proves his point: Mortals such as goku were too barbaric and were increasingly becoming more powerful, while gods such as Gowasu did nothing to stop them. Zamasu's point is further proven when we remember power-hungry mortals like Moro and Buu who the gods also failed to deal with. Zamasu was right to an extent, which is what I love about his character.
Not only is he a menace, but he is based as well? Ya love to see it.
I just wish we got concrete motivations cause the way the anime showed him was kinda weak, he just saw some dinosaur aliens fighting and decided all mortals need to die

He didn't hate Goku as a person, he hated what Goku represented: A power-hungry mortal who somehow attained the power of gods. A mortal who is inherently violent and loves battle. A mortal who dared to do battle against his own god of destruction and live to tell the tale.
Goku's existence proved was everything Zamasu hated: Due to the gods not doing their jobs, they had accidently allowed a mortal such as Goku to become so powerful, that the he can basically defy the gods whenever they want.
In other words Goku was such a menace that without even trying, he managed to become the top target for the most genocidal kai in all of the multiverse. Goku is HIM.
@@RedJasper87 Exactly. He verbatim stated this when fighting Fused Zamasu. He stole Goku's body as a symbol. Since Goku represents literally all of his problems with mortals, from his twisted point of view, it was only right to use Goku's body to destroy the mortals. By taking Goku's body, Zamasu was embodying the sins of mortals and the failures of the God, and he believed destroying the mortals in such a state was cleansing them of their sins.

What I DO love about Zamasu is in dub he's voiced by Spike from Buffy and Angel. Who also was sadly live action King Piccolo. He said he's a big fan of DB so I'm glad he got a chance to voice an actual good character.
A fun fact I heard about recently: He offered to play Zamasu FOR FREE to redeem embarrassing role as King Piccolo in DB evolution. That movie was so bad that James Marster literally chose to voice Zamasu FOR FREE in 30 episodes just to redeem himself. W mans

You know what's messed up? In the manga, Goku never meets Present Zamasu. Instead, the first time Present Zamasu learns of Goku is through the manga adaption of the GodTube scene. Which means Zamasu was going to target Goku one way or another.
Well yeah, of course thats just common sense. In the timeline we first see, Zamasu meets Goku due to Goku coming to investigate Goku Black's ki. But if Goku Black never existed in the first place, Goku would never need to investigate Zamasu. Therefore, its obvious that original Zamasu (the one in Black's body) put his plan into place without ever meeting Goku. As the manga shows, he likely finds out about Goku from Godtube (a scene we also see in the anime) and is horrified at seeing Goku use SSB to fight against Hit. Zamasu would definitely not be a fan of seeing goku use god ki to fight another mortal, so thus his plan begins!

Zamasu technically was the winner in this arc. The man was successful in wiping out all mortals and he led to Trunks's timeline being erased. So he basically won and destroyed what our heroes were trying to protect.

God that ending was ass. Made the whole arc pointless and framed it as a happy ending with everyone smiling. This is why I headcanon that it was a different Future Trunks and timeline ect.

I forgot just how much IMPACT some of Black’s attacks had. Like sure we’ve seen a million and one explosions outta every DB villain ever, but this is one of the few that was *animated correctly* to make those explosions feel powerful and lethal.
Easily makes top antagonists of Super for me for that reason alone

The Goku Black arc is so close to perfection. The only really bad part of it is how it ended. Honestly, they should've saved the Mafuba for that moment. That's the only thing I can think of that would've been able to deal with Zamasu at that point, since he went all Giygas on the Z-Crew. Either that, or simply having Trunks win after cutting fused Zamasu in half. It's very strange to me that they didn't just use that loophole to kill him. The fact that his body was only half-immortal. As far as I'm concerned, that's my headcanon as to how that arc ended.
There is 2 main things wrong with:
1. Trunks so strong for no reason
2. The ending
Besides that its perfect. Zamasu/Black was one of the best villains, I just wish we got to see him longer

I mean technically zamasu breaking apart was one of the few times that it wasn't just due to plot. There's actually decent reason for it. Pretty much zamasu only has an immortal body on the half of him that didn't still Goku's body. The Goku thief is completely mortal so the immortality and mortality were clashing with each other

You know, Paragus tried to control Broly and used him as a walking weapon to do his bidding while Babidi attempted to do the same with Majin Buu but Gowas at least made an effort to get Zamasu on the right path instead of manipulating him. He was a non-toxic mentor to him but you can't guide nor redeem someone who's a sociopath. Zamasu/Goku-Black is like the Tai Lung to Gowasu's Master Shifu.
