As a Villain specifically, I can never rank any DBZ villain over Frieza. A huge part of being a villain, is villainy, and Frieza is as pure evil as it gets. He didn't undergo any trauma to get him to this point, he was basically born that way, he knows he's evil, and he likes it. I'd rank Cell slightly higher as an Antagonist, but not as a Villain.
In his best selling book "How to be a great villain?", Freezer goes step by step on what a proper villain must do to earn the title, starting with the first chapter: "Alien Trafficking"
The death of Frieza feels like the series could have ended there and it would have been a great ending. The universe wide threat was defeated by the prophesied super saiyan.
@ecci0261 hes boring because he doesn't have a generic sad backstory that lead to his villain path? Are you forgetting about his charisma and physopathic tendencies?
People forget that Raditz is the only villain that one shotted Goku then beat him twice in a row. He was also the only villain that Goku had to die to defeat.
I wish the scene where all the previous villains are watching Goku fight Kid Buu, Raditz would be a part of it and show a level of respect for his brother for not only unlocking SSJ but also going toe to toe with the greatest threat they’ve ever known at that point
I think the Cell Saga had the best storyline, but the animation and choreography in the Buu Saga are the best we’ve seen in Z, might just be because I like that era of art styles in Z too. Also I’d give kid Buu a 10/10 or a 9/10 just because he is the embodiment of a chaotic menace.

Cap It's noted in the manga that the FF was perfectly aimed and calculated. In fact, that happens 2 times. The Kamehameha that was stated to be powerful enough to blow up earth was perfectly aimed by Goku. Even Cell was scared and thought Goku would never released that attack. All in the manga.
@@Nyntrex47 when he was done beating up trunks? He literally tests his perfection on space and sees a meteor coming towards earth and he easily destroys it
I believe people don’t give Buu the credit he deserves. He ate all of the Z-fighters, blew up Earth, then beat the bricks off the two main protagonists twice. Buu’s purpose as a villain is as a force of nature: something completely unreasonable and incorruptible. He just is and the Z-fighters have the misfortune of being in his way. This is completely different than the last 2 big baddies and I love et. On top of that, Buu has the best fights because of his wild and dynamic style as well as his fun personalities.
Buu made me so mad I broke my tv watching his shit Like bro it hits different when you have a connection with every z fighter and bulma and chi chi like it hurts
Vs Cell who did whined like a bitch every time he was almost beaten and Frieza who made his own bed. Buu was literally something new to the formula. Ironically, he’s the only one who thought his way out of fights. Cell exploited Vegeta being an idiot and accidentally survived his own self destruction. Buu created diversions and plotted how to approach fights he couldn’t win. Ironically he’s DBZ’s best strategist
Everybody under this comment thread know Z frfr because I know the other villains evil, but I can't see how you compete with a dude in kid Buu who literally woke up and chose violence blew up the planet then proceed to raise hell in heaven come on nah he should have got a 15/10 tbh
If there’s one thing Ive always appreciate from the buu saga is just because kid buu was the last villain doesn’t mean he was the strongest in that arc like we’ve seen in the 3 that came before it
I will always prefer Frieza but I can never deny Cell was far and away the more Evil and vindictive villain, Frieza might blow up planets wiping away entire lives in the blink of an eye but cell will destroy a planet slowly and personally one human at a time until their all screaming in terror before his eyes. It’s the difference between a Dictator/Evil General and a completely Psychopathic serial killer.

Agreed they 100% wasted raditz, it took the main character and the last big bad to team up to beat him, and the main character ended up dying. What a waste
I agree with most of your takes. Cell being my fav villain, Freeza should've stayed dead and not follow the villian becomming a friend arc. Vegeta being the best side/main character... Cell vs gohan was the best anime fight for me. Using cell's theme as outro was just 🤌...
DBZ was supposed to end with Cell. That was during '94. But pressure from all sides forced Akira T. to write the Buu Saga. That was '96 I believe. The second half of the 90s was a new era, a more vibrant and positive era, less grime, sweat, blood and drama. That's why the Buu Saga felt so different.
Honestly. Frieza Arc felt like the Grand Finale while the Cell Arc felt like an Epilogue that should habe set up a sequel series for Gohan as the New Protagonist. And the Buu Saga could have been that Sequel Series if Gohan maintained said status.
@@bungbananamanAgreed. If anything, i think Cell would have been a better pick for the ToP. Not only because of his potential, but because unlike Frieza, his motives are not as Pure Evil for Evil’s Sake. Cell is an Egotist who thinks his Perfect, its easier for Goku and Vegeta to not only “befriend” someone whose sole desire is to be perfect, but recruit Cell into the ToP to prove his the guy. Sure Cell was definitely not a Saint, but neither was Buu. And at least Cell won’t go out of his way to do what Frieza could have done.

Goku and Frieza were moving so fast that in their perspective 5 minutes felt like hours. When you go past light speed time slows down to the point where minutes can feel like eternity and the fight was in their point of view.
@@buffbeluga9541 theirs such a thing as talking really fast. Heck in super we have seen Goku and Frieza have a conversation before water drops hit the water.
I was always lowkey mad 19 and Gero had some of the best designs in the series only to end up barely used because Toriyamas editor convinced him to kill them off and have another enemy
For me Buu was not all that bad. Sure, the whole Fat, Evil, Super and Kid stuff might be a little misleading, but the whole concept of Buu being a compound of nothing but destruction is great for me.
He was pretty evil though. I make the argument alot that he was more like an embodiment of destruction too. But buu has alot of moments of torture. Not as many as frieza...and definitely not as long. We watched frieza via secondary torture those namekians for an episode. Frieza got his hands dirty and tortured nail for like 3 episodes, piccolo ( in third form) for a full episode, vegeta for a full episode and goku for like 5 episodes. In comparison, buu does that for 5 minutes maybe then calls it quits to kill you. Vegeta is the only one who got like half of an episode against both fat buu and kid buu. Otherwise, circumstances always had buu taking his attention elsewhere, or he never seemed interested to begin with. People think cell is so evil, but I think he is the least evil. His tortures ( if you want to call them that) had purpose outside of just sadism or destruction. Absorption, from what we see is a heinous way to die, but he was as quick as he could have been...unless you count some filler, he did act monstrous in that. He beat the crap out of 17 to absorb him...not to just torture him. If 17 went willingly, there would be no violence...outside of the absorption part. He clowned vegeta for maybe 5 minutes and then just rendered him unconscious. Vegeta out of his league with buu, frieza, and cell at one point got it the easiest with cell. Buu may have had some torturous fun with vegeta but a fast ki blast when bored seems most likely. Frieza on the other hand beat this guy to an inch of his life and then killed him. And it was only because he was sick of his mouth running about ssj. If vegeta kept his mouth shut, he probably would have lived because frieza is so sadistic, the thrill isn't the kill part, it's the torture part. How I view them is buu is a guy having fun running over people with a car. Cell would like to kill you in a boxing ring and frieza....well frieza is that psycho that would like bind, torture, then kill you after the torture part is no longer amusing.
Buu’s biggest issue is that he comes out of nowhere in the lore, and we’re supposed to expect he’s been chilling in the background the whole time. Like, if the damn egg was on Earth of all places, why didn’t Babidi try to absorb energy from fighters during the Cell Saga? You know, when five Super Saiyans were just casually walking around. Sure, I totally believe this out of nowhere monster has been sealed away on Earth since before Freeza blew up Planet Vegeta, and nobody ever mentioned or talked about him.

Fun fact is, that the creators don't care about Cell, who got all the spotlight is Frieza, and it's simply beacause it is the best villain. He just ties the lore, and it's evil by himself. Not needing anyone.

Still a good memory, thanks for acknowledging my interests, pops.
I think its fine frieza came back. He was confident in coming out of the namek explosion squeaky clean implying his biological durability is far above any other race.
Hell, in Resurrection F, he was shown to be living while in his chopped up state after he was brought back. If you remember how he died, not only did Trunks cut him to pieces, he also disintegrated the pieces. He was STILL ALIVE after being reduced to cold cuts.
5:23 there’s a theory that he knew it was going to blow up much later He just tried to make Goku THINK he had only a little time left so that he’d slip up In which case Goku’s confidence would be incredibly out of place
Watching the short Zarbon arc, and him getting killed, was pretty satisfying. I'd give him like a seven or eight out of ten. And the exchange between him and Vegeta: "You can answer to me, or you can answer to lord Frieza." "Try. To make me talk." is one of the best exchanges I've ever heard, in any show, and it was down to the setup and delivery.
Escanor is more proud because Vegeta accepts that Goku is stronger than him a lot more times than expected. Escanor just showed off and maybe he got a bit touchy and emotional in his final moments but he’s still prouder. Great work, video is better than most things I find.
Majin Buu is hands down my favourite Z villain. So much variety with his forms and transformations and his ability to turn people into food to literally eat them was savage as all heck!! Didn't he cure a blind kid and give him milk made of some random dude? Just unforgettable...
Wow, really entertaining style you were able to develop here. A tinge of Jakey but with your own quirks and jokes. Can't wait to see more of you, you definitely got potential!
7:58 Side note: In Trunks timeline Is possible that king Cold reaches his final form, due Vegeta was a SSJ and Goku got a heartattack way earlier than the past version (mean something when down with Frizar and King Cold. In my opinion King Cold have transformation like Frost but it didn't happen because of Trunks...
No, in trunks timeline. Goku uses instant transmission and kills frieza and cold. In the main timeline trunks said he was confident that goku wasn't gonna make it in time to save his friends or the earth, so he had to step in. Then goku says "I was gonna use this new technique I learned, but then I felt your energy"( referring to trunks). Then trunks immediately is mad that he stepped in because by doing so, he could have altered the main time line ( which I think is why 17 and 18 are significantly more powerful in the main timeline vs future trunks timeline. Gero may not know what a ssj is but he is aware that 2 people possess power to kill frieza and cold...while the future timeline, goku was the only one). In the future, gero made the androids so that no one ssj could defeat them. Within that 3 year span of friezas death and the androids appearance, Goku had a heart attack, and vegeta became ssj. It still fits gero calculations. On a side note, even if goku took the heart medicine on time, I'm not sure if 3 ssjs would have been enough to defeat the main time line androids. Perhaps just 18 would have died, but they also activated 16, which doesn't happen in the future. And 16 is significantly stronger than 17. Trunks, goku, and vegeta vs 17 and 18 would be a close match though. 18 and vegeta were close but, 17 and 18 have unlimited ki.
As far as king cold having transformations, I am open to the idea that he could, but there is no evidence to suggest that he does, other than that the way he looks is similar to 2nd form frieza. But there are 3 things that go against it. 1. The first is frieza is considered a mutant and a prodigy. This suggests he was born in his final form, at some age understood it was op power level and he created his 2nd form to respect how his race "should" look, but he just doesn't look that way. 2. The second is that he is deemed the strongest of his race due to this mutation. That is that his father is not as strong as him. But when they arrive on earth, the z fighters say the power levels ( of frieza and his father are near equal). If cold had more transformations anything like frieza, he would by far be stronger as frieza second form is just over 1 million and his final is considered about 120 million. So by that logic, if cold is in his second form and is sitting around 60 million, he would be well over frieza if he has a final fom ( about 60 times over friezas final form) which doesn't make sense as frieza is the strongest of his species. 3. Is when frieza fits goku on namek and at around 50% ( or 60 million) he says to goku that nobody has been able to put damage on him at this stage except his own parents. To me, this means that at 50% power, the only person that could damage him would be his dad. But at 100% nobody could touch frieza to the point that frieza has never utilized 100% until goku ( this is a big reason why frieza loses the fight as goku explains that because he has never had a need to train in this form, he is burning more energy than sustaining it). To me, this is a clear nod that cold is around 50% frieza, maybe slightly more, but not near his 100%.
@@danielsilva-ds2u your right king cold can not transform his power in data book is 65 million. @@wjoming3 well that’s the thing. The fighting is sped up. So that part is true. BUT! That doesn’t account for the 27 minutes of dialogue. So my theory that I learned from another video fits perfectly
@@mattysteelvt A lot of that is probably anime filler to pad out the fight. They did do that a lot.
He’s kinda boring but perfect for Dragon Ball.
@@ecci0261I wouldn’t call a charismatic psychopath boring but sure.

Raditz was a 10/10 for me. He was mysterious, imposing and a genuine threat. I also believe it was Goku at his best in terms of personality.
Raddiz was so strong at the time that they broke their unwritten rule of never teaming up on opponents 💀
People forget that Raditz is the only villain that one shotted Goku then beat him twice in a row. He was also the only villain that Goku had to die to defeat.
Same
I don't know why but I really really liked the fact that Radditz was Goku's brother.
To bad he didn't absorb 18 the other way around

I believe people don’t give Buu the credit he deserves. He ate all of the Z-fighters, blew up Earth, then beat the bricks off the two main protagonists twice. Buu’s purpose as a villain is as a force of nature: something completely unreasonable and incorruptible. He just is and the Z-fighters have the misfortune of being in his way. This is completely different than the last 2 big baddies and I love et. On top of that, Buu has the best fights because of his wild and dynamic style as well as his fun personalities.

Buu is a different kind of beast though - Killing everyone on earth twice just for the funsies? *Damn*
My thoughts exactly. Frieza will always be my favorite, but Cell is a veeery close second.
Frieza was basically a spoiled brat who needed a reality check and I fucking love that.

I agree, it’s a really interesting dynamic. And I also love the idea of having the spoiled brat taking the reality check and working hard for once and becoming even more of a threat because of it, that’s a concept I don’t see often, and part of why I love Frieza as a character.

Vegeta is garbage and should've stayed dead on Namek with Freeza.
Honestly. Frieza Arc felt like the Grand Finale while the Cell Arc felt like an Epilogue that should habe set up a sequel series for Gohan as the New Protagonist.
And the Buu Saga could have been that Sequel Series if Gohan maintained said status.
@@treehugger3615Buu Saga should have had Gohan be the Protag imo.

@@thefilmwatcher1302 Babidi literally had a damn space ship lol. So buu wasnt even on earth during the cell saga.

Side note:
In Trunks timeline Is possible that king Cold reaches his final form, due Vegeta was a SSJ and Goku got a heartattack way earlier than the past version (mean something when down with Frizar and King Cold.
In my opinion King Cold have transformation like Frost but it didn't happen because of Trunks...
damn I aint even think about that
No, in trunks timeline.
Its all in the manga even the filler episodes in between names when vegeta was looking for goku, vegeta killed a bunch of king coldest men so he was happy to beat vegata to a pulp on earth piccolo fought freiza got his arm chopped off and vegeta went super saiyan and killed cold b4 he passes out.
