You'd always think that Deontay's power comes from excellent body mechanics, and that he just naturally has that perfect kinetic chain from his lanky but otherwise light (for his weight class) body. But things like this make you realize damn, he's just really friggin' strong and accurate. For such a short punch, that was REALLY loud.
He has a knack to throw a punch without pulling it back atall and it following through with more and more power it's unconventional but it works. Look at the KO punch he knocked Breazeale out with he just kind of pushes it out but it connects then carries on afterwards he generates freakish power.
The crazy scary thing about wilder is how truly fast twitch he is. Knocked him out with nearly no wind up his arm was already half extended and still starched him.

Well he was moving into it whilst throwing his own punch so he added to the power. He moved with force into a shot that was coming with force, extra impact.
Few fighters in history had this much 1-punch power. Shavers, Foreman… that’s maybe it. Even Mike Tyson knocked out people but did so with a swarming attack of hard punches.
I like how one commentator said Wilder would eventually have to slow down in order to land the right. The KO was the Step 2 part of the 1-2 step 2 combo. Helenius was following him as if he were being towed with a rope. That was the perfect punch to throw in that situation. I like the movement from Wilder, but it would have been nice for this fight to last a few rounds to see if he could keep it up. Wilder made a living throwing the big right from downtown, but now he can throw it from your front yard.

I like how one commentator said Wilder would eventually have to slow down in order to land the right. The KO was the Step 2 part of the 1-2 step 2 combo. Helenius was following him as if he were being towed with a rope. That was the perfect punch to throw in that situation. I like the movement from Wilder, but it would have been nice for this fight to last a few rounds to see if he could keep it up. Wilder made a living throwing the big right from downtown, but now he can throw it from your front yard.
