  • (February 22, 2020) Tyson "The Gypsy King" Fury defeated Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder by seventh-round stoppage to capture the WBC Heavyweight Championship Saturday night headlining a historic mega PPV event from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
"A big shout out to Deontay Wilder," said Fury. "He came here tonight and he manned up and he really did show the heart of a champion.I hit him with a clean right that dropped him and he got back up. He is a warrior. He will be back. He will be champion again. But I will say, the king has returned to the top of the throne!"
"Things like this happen," said Wilder. "The best man won tonight, but my corner threw in the towel and I was ready to go out on my shield. I had a lot of things going on heading into this fight. It is what it is, but I make no excuses tonight. I'm a warrior. He had a great performance and we will be back stronger."
The highly anticipated rematch was the most eagerly awaited heavyweight fight in decades after their controversial split draw in 2018. After an unprecedented promotion, the two heavyweight giants traded leather in the middle of the ring in front of a sold out crowd of 15,816.
While both men landed good shots in the first two rounds, Fury broke through in round three with a right hook that put Wilder down late in the round. While Wilder was able to make it through the round and continue fighting, his legs appeared weakened and in round five Fury scored another knockdown, this time with a body shot.
Referee Kenny Bayless deducted a point from Fury late in round five, but it didn't stop Fury from coming forward and continuing to use his height and weight advantage to push Wilder around the ring. In round seven, Fury had Wilder cornered and unloaded with a series of power punches that prompted Wilder's corner to stop the bout, which the referee officially did at 1:39 of the round.
According to CompuBox, Fury was the busier and more effective puncher, out throwing Wilder 267 to 141 and out landing him 82 to 34, including big fifth and sixth rounds where he landed 16 and 14 power punches respectively.

@@williamrose7184 You know, I have to admit, when I first saw Wilder, during his early career, when he'd only had about twenty odd fights or so, I liked him. He came across as a really nice guy.....at first!
But then it all changed, he changed. It was during the negotiations with Joshua and Eddie Hearn, when they (Joshua's team) were doing everything possible to get the unification fight made.
That's when Wilder went from being......likeable.....to.....extremely loathsome in my eyes at least!
All the blatant lies he started to spout in order to duck out of the fight whilst trying his upmost to make it look like it was Joshua who was ducking out of the fight....., absolutely outrageous!

Watching this again, there's so much to digest. In round 6, you could tell the ref knew Wilder was done for. During each breakup, you can see him examining Wilder to make sure he could still fight. Also, kudos to Wilder's team for protecting him against himself. To lose this fight AND your hearing, would have haunted Wilder for years to come. And, at the end of the day, his team will be accountable to Wilder's wife and children. That's an enormous amount of pressure. They saw him in danger and called it.

Wilder didn't think Fury being 270 wrestling with him would've tired him out like that, Wilder couldn't even through proper punches because he was gassed spent, he was just taking punches while his legs were rubber he's almost falling down even getting hit with jabs and body shots, but he thought he would recover and Fury would gas himself but the corner stopped the fight.
This time Wilder is bulking up power lifting then hitting pads after weight training trying to not gas with Fury's weight leaning on him and wrestling him.

When after the fight and a loss finally came, even battered & bruised, the last things said by Wilder was, "I just want to thank all the fans, and I just wish for everyone to get home safely". He's a champion in my books.

    • @Dionysoshaman
      @Dionysoshaman Год назад +31

Wilder's a strange case in my mind. I truly feel like he's a genuinely good person at heart but I feel like he hasn't really had too much experience with loss in his life, so I hope that he has been healing after his difficult experiences with Fury.
I wish that he didn't entertain a certain fan base in entertaining such ugly and baseless accusations towards Fury. I really believe that once he can be at peace with everything that happened, he will be a better man for it. Sometimes losing can be a force for good if you digg what I mean.
No matter what some people may feel about Fury, you have to admit that he knows how to box with the best of'm.
By the way if by chance someone who doesn't know what Fury said about Wilder, he said some words of encouragement towards Wilder even after Wilder said some insulting things about Fury. He said that he believes in Daeontay Wilder and that "you can do it champ!"
That's what makes boxing the greatest sport of all time, when the person that knocked you down is the same man who's encouraging him to get back up. Beautiful stuff friends, brothers and sisters

It isn't legendary when one fighter has completely dominated his opponent for 2 of those whole matches, Wilder has only like maximum 4 out of 24 rounds when both fights put together lol

@@generalabz5684 Just watching Fury vs Wilder fighting is legendary that’s what dude is saying with special emphasis on Fury. Fury is going to win again this Saturday and I can’t wait for the excuses Wilder is going to come up with 😂😂😂.

This is not legendary. Wilder is a one dimensional fighter. He doesn’t even know how to box. Hardly legendary. Tyson was legendary. Holyfield legendary Holmes legendary. Ali the best. Wilder not even in the top 20 heavyweights of all time maybe not even top 30.

Rewatching the first fight then this one you can really just see the difference in furys attack. The first fight he never threw power into any shots. He was just trying to score points. This fight he threw power into everything. Super hard jabs. Wilder was caught off guard by the power

Wilder also looked off. Like when the fight first started wether nerves or that weak in the body feeling we get some times randomly. He looked like a hallowed version of himself
