The Romans having to immediately deal with pirates when they wanna fight someone else is 100% canon.
The Illyrian Vampirates were huge problem for the Romans.
@@anmerpozzoas were the Cilicians (Caesar remembers), and many others

-some sergeant, somewhere, sometime ...
So glad to see that’s still being remembered
"Engage the enemy ship with your velites, and keep a safe distance from its legs"
-Belli contra piratas by Julius Caesar
ah yes, the historically accurate Roman halberds
In this context it's like saying: "oh look, how fat are Jabba the Hut's arms!"
Romans DID exist in Warhammer Fantasy. They were the Reman Empire. They basically were Fantasy Rome and would have all the things you woukd expect of the Romans but they also made extensive use of halberds
@@Brother_O4TSi love when modders add THAT level of detail when making factions! To know that means they did their research to fit it into Warhammer, while making the faction fun for history nerds like me
@@Brother_O4TS "reman"

I suggest you look it up lol
I've read history and you're lucky you didn't encounter Asterix and Obelix because those two surely would have put an end to this.
You shouldn't listen this dirty gallic propoganda, they didn't exist #GloryToRome #RomaInvicta
They're called Gotrek and Felix in the Old World.
There is a WH Fantasy mod for mount&blade warband called Warsword Conquest. And there is an Ogre companion named Ogrelix. Get it? He looks like Obelix with iconic blue and white pants, red hair and super strength
🤣🤣🤣👍

As a historian I can confirm the 100% historical accuracy
Not exactly, we haven't seen famous battle when Julius Caesar cut Archaon's head
As a Spaniard I can confirm it's 100% a lifeless wasteland indeed
Even down to the small details like Caesar knowing lizard magic
it's lack dragon though, everyone know the Roman slay dragon when fighting Carthage
I remember seeing that painting of Caesar riding a dragon in a small museum in Milano. Thank you for including these niche historical facts into your videos. Very educating.
I don't know about FIGHTING undead, but the romans are certainly adept at commanding them, as seen in the also totally historically accurate "Spartan : Total Warrior."
Brooooo someone else gets it
All jokes aside, I notice an uptick in Roman-themed Undead factions in various games in recent years. Dominions 5 has Ermor, Battle Brothers has the Ancient Undead (who even have pseudo-germanic and pseudo-celtic undead Auxiliaries), Songs of Conquest has the Barony of Loth, and the tabletop wargame Conquest has the Old Dominion (which also has some Byzantine stuff in their roster, like Cataphracts and Varangians).
Not sure where that came from, but I'm not complaining. I'd love to see more Undead Romans.
@@moriskurth628 Hmm... With the exception of Battle Brothers I haven't heard of the others. Might have to have a look. I certainly can't say no to more undead factions.
@@Caldaris As a certified Dominionsologist (Don't quote me on that), I can tell you that it is the Dwarf Fortress of strategy games.
The amount of unique Factions, Spells, Craftable Items, and strategies is without equal.
You want to lead an army of sapient Magma humans clad in the heaviest armour possible? That's a thing.
Wanna wage war with Japanese Oni as semi-divine Angels governing over armies of monkeys? Thats possible.
A lot of the factions in the game is based on real life mythology, Mixed with tabletop games and some such.
Fair warning, You should really watch a tutorial series before playing the game as it is incredibly complicated and detailed, And it does not teach you at all :D
I'm gonna add the Empire faction from Fantasy General 2 in that list too.
Thank you for this video, I almost forgot to think about Rome today until I saw the video.
All these fights are based on historical event
11:43 so there is this giant enemy crab
yeah, he did MASSIVE DAMAGE to took him down %)
Maniples eh? I had no idea there were two Roman units on my chest, no wonder men are always thinking of Rome.
The elves being Roman would improve them: using the consular system both Malekith and Bel Shanaar would be able to rule without centuries long civil wars
Considering roman history it will burst out into civil war anyway xD
Ah yes, the Romans. A people famous for not starting civil wars.
I cannot imagine a worse idea for reducing civil wars, I'm pretty sure Rome must hold the world record for civil wars.
@@hedgehog3180 Defenitly rome or china
Malekith already thought he had a hereditary claim to the elected office of Phoenix King sooooo
It's pretty funny to see you doing this one because i'm almost done reading through a series called Codex Alera which is a pretty similar scenario to what you're doing here. It's basically "the lost legion" myth but it was Julius Caesar's legions, dropped into a fantasy world with magic (via binding elemental spirits) and a lot of nonhuman races. Story starts almost two thousand years later after the misplaced romans have managed to tame the spirits and used their new found magic and good old legions to tame their corner continent via good old total war and a bit of genocide. It's a pretty good read.
Just added it to my list, thanks for the rec!
Damn I already made a comment mentioning Codex Alera before I saw this.
But hello fellow Codex Alera enjoyer!
@@lazylonewolf hello, friend. Wish there was more like it 👍
i like how in typical roman fashion they travel to a new dimension and immediately think ok lets conquer it
@@todorminchev2123 in their defense they didn't exactly run into friendly natives when they got there so not much choice if they wanted to live. It's actually a pretty insane feat they managed with only a single legion but it's heavily implied that they had Julius Caesar leading them so it checks out I guess. Would have been cool to read his book about that campaign.
I love these absolutely historically accurate battles. Always funny. And of course absolutely historically accurate...

As a roman fanboy i can say with 100% certainty that the commenter above is 100% an ancient roman, so if he says this video is 100% historically accurate then it 100% is.

@Zerkovich, Hey thanks for featuring my mod in your video, it literally just went from 600 subs in 80 days to 1600 subs sins yesterday and someone in my comments told me about your video, so thanks :) and because of you I have renamed a lot of the Roman units.
A man of culture I see
Ah yes tommy and cesar, i remember that painting, it still hangs in rome, in the vatican to be exact, this is 100% confirmed to be historically accurate
Dude got me laughing so hard when he was saying true historical facts and then finishing with some clear nonsense… As a Roman history fanboy - this was hilarious and super entertaining to watch, thank you so much!
What u mean nonsense? Everyone knows Julius' dragon Tommy
The first cohort of a legion was usually double sized, as they were the ones guarding the eagle 👌🏻
"I fucking love a good dragon. My favorite one is Tommy"
- Julius Caesar
15:55 Interesting story about the first punic war according to the roman historian livy the romans did in fact fight a dragon once the roman general Regulus invaded North Africa and on the road to carthage his army encountered a dragon. Modern historians seem to not believe him but I do 😊
Bonus Roman saying about the triarii, as a sign of appreciation for the video : "Ad triarios redisse" , "to fall back to the triarii" , meaning to use your last shot at something.
History fact, the contubernium and century actually had 10 and 100 men in them respectively, but the extra 2/20 men were non combatants. Hence the discrepancy between Century and having only 80 soldiers.
These themed campaign videos are really great, hope you keep doing them 🙂
Zerkovich, found your channel again after not watching for a while.
This was my first watch.
Its had my in tears, love your style of videos, great balance to them.
Also loving the humour good sir.

This has been one of the most entertaining campaings you've shown us, Zerk! Thanks for taking these challenges and giving fun moments with TWWH3.
I got a Pharaoh Ad before watching this and I thought for a split second that it was Warhammer lol
Fantastic work. Love these types of videos. Brilliant.
As a german i have to say that the guys in gaul were the french
I was about to say.
Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding, but isn't the term "French" derived from Franks, as in the German tribe, the Franks?
@@jorvach9874 i think so but gaul in roman times was on modern day french territory so
As the sayings go, "All Mods lead to ROME."
As a history myself, I can tell this is 100% historically accurate.
_As I noted years ago.... It would be fun to have a Total War (Fantasy) Title that combines all eras, nations and factions in one game and make it possible to compete in that alternate universe. The Holy Father Pope St. Scratchius would surely agree... yes, yes!_ 🤯
Magic would be a problem. Not to mention the physical resistance too....
Oh darn it, I suppose they can go along with the Maleficent 1 scenario. Make silver strong against all fantasy creatures.
@@URKCEHinoSuu I figure it wouldn't have magic, it would just be fantasy in the sense that it combines all the iconic factions from historic Total War, except Fall of the Samurai because that would be too OP.
@@hedgehog3180 so in theory we can have roman legions supported by spainard musket squads

Love the fun, imaginitive videos you make!
These campaign vids are awesome
The lands of the border princes are some of the most strategically important in the mortal empire campaign map.
Trade, room for expansion, and coastal advantages which the empire doesn’t have.
Totally underrated. I look forward to the day we have an official Dogs of War update for WH III.
I recently started playing older total war series and been playing Rome remastered for past few weeks. This actually inpired me to try warhammer games :D
Well done sir.
I've learned how to play Total War because of this channel. Now I've learned about Roman History. This channel just keeps on giving. Thanks Zerkovich!
Thank you, I almost forgot to think of Rome today. 🤔 Your a lifesaver. 😌
I found this mod 1 month ago and made a post in WH group. Im happy you found and tried it too.
You should do a similar video with the WW1 Reikland mod!!!
Just subscribed, love these!!
Holy shit, this is some good stuff! Much higher effort input I'm sure, but the product is immaculate!
How amazing is that??? Definetly going to try it out, huge roman fan!
You just made my Day. Thank you :-D
Great video man, good remix of warhammer and historical tw esthetics, also great mod, first time seeing your channel bro, it's decent, a bit too choppy though with your commentary
But I like how you edited the video to give detail in the battles and embellished the campaign, really want to see you do a whole world conquer with this lore you established 😏 I challenge you to conquer the map with this mod trying to be as historical as you can 🏁 it would be worth a watch man
I live for Zerk videos like this
This was a very fun video, I hope for more Roman action 😊
First Warhammer video I've ever watched in full length
As someone who survived the fall of the Roman empire I can tell this is 99% accurate. One small detail is missing, the flying pirate ships. These are the stories I tell my grandchildren as well.
I love this guys commentary
Love this video. Takes me back. Principes and triarii
Great fun - tnx - always been a big Roman fan so this is very nice news
Dude…brilliant!
I love the loose history lessons sown throughout the show! Very engaging
I love the idea of Romans being dropped off in a fantasy world. I am sure it has been written before, but they would 100% learn to use magic and stuff.
Considering how often they either put curses on others, or sought protection from curses, this is entirely believable. So many curse tablets...
Pyrrhic victory has is a whole new level here.
I'd like the video twice if I could; Cheers Zerk!
“Let’s see if we can get a 4th”, 8:53 of a 23 min video, I can’t wait

Zerko trying to smuggle some historical into the WH fan diet :P This looks like a great mod! Awesomely funny video!
How do you succeed in troop rotations during combat?
I’d love to see a video on this and if it’s a viable tactic for campaigns.
Best Total War Content. Just my humor.

Best ancient rome documentary to date!
Absolutely brilliant. Ad astra per aspera
As a Harvard graduate and historical advisor to the aliens I agree this is 100% accurate
this is actually teaching me to not be a complete newb in warhammer total war while also teaching me about Rome what the hell this is awesome XD great work man! first video I have seen from you and I look forward to more!
The moment i was scanning my "Latin phrases" PDF to find the triarii one only to have Zerkovich drop it on screen ^_^
Fun fact: The Reman empire is an actual thing in warhammer, so this video is not only 100% historically accurate but 100% canon in fantasy too.
"Reman"? As an Elder Scrolls fan, I am obliged to say: "I AM CYRODIIL COME"
...even though I haven't actually looked into 2nd Era Tamriel lore very much so I don't really know what that means.
I like how it gets progressively more unhinged with each minute
Your game visuals look so good, may I ask what are your settings or how do you achieve that?
Wholesome stuff!!
Very kind good Sir, thanks!
To be honnest having misnumbered legions would be the most historically accurate option, usually some more elite legions would even remain smaller due tot heir own skill level and comradery
This has to be one of the best TW3 videos ever
The Greeks made me remember the Mod from Rome 2 with the skins of the Spartan Total Warrior. I quite liked it.
Wow! that was amazing! I imagine how amazing would be a Rome Total war with the warhammer engine
I love how at minute 16 the video goes from "Sounds about right" to "Now I know you're messing with me."
Even though I already knew, I appreciate the little history lesson
We also have 1st cohort with the legion's eagle and being double the size of other cohorts.
Just brilliant
lmao the dragons bit. WOOOOO 10/10
I would highly suggest next for you to play as, Grimgor the Liberator ( AKA history's Cyrus the Great). Basically play him similar to the Persian Achaemenid Dynasty. What made me think the Grimgor to be akin to Cyrus was him leading the black orcs revolt against the Chaos Dwarves who definitely is our world's version of the Babylonians, and other mesopotamian kingdoms. Of course what reinforces Grimgor, and his greenskins for warhammer's persian empire is the IMMORTULZ.
I live like thirty minutes from where the battle, or rather battles, of Teutoburg took place, and we're still finding Minotaur bones now and again.
Im late to the party but as a german i absolutely loved your "ouh scheiße" xD Great Video overall.
Probably one of the best mods for this game
This entire video feels like a fever dream.
Total War Warhammer's scale never ceases to amaze me, especially with all the new factions in the third game that I never even heard of. Gotta be one of the best 4X out there.
Technically you could say this is semi-lore-friendly since the Roman Empire did exist in the Warhammer world as the Reman Empire.
I'm a simple man, I see Zerkovich post a video, I watch it, gut busting laughter ensues ❤.
Simply glorious ⚔️
When I heard about the new historical total war, this wasn't what came to mind
These models look so good.

After a painstaking amount of patience and effort, the Romans have instilled the Roman way into these "rat-men".
And although they're not as strong or courageous as the average legionary, they're significantly better than the Clanrats which is saying something.
The mod author is now aware of this video and has made name changes to the units based on your commentary. I doubt you will see this, but I thought I'd at least try to let you know.
