    You have to, have to listen to Peter Hollens with Home Free do the old U2 song, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" with about 300 of their Patreon members as the backup choir. And this was done during COVID so it was all done remotely. It's an amazing experience for the guys and their fans. Please take a listen!!!

    Peter is an absolute master at layering tracks. He used approx 120 layers of their voices for the song and the choral background music. Tim and Peter sang together in another a cappella over 20 years ago. They have done many duets together in the last few years that you should check out. Peter has done 3 collaboration with Home Free and should definitely listen to the U2 cover of I STILL HAVN’T FOUND WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR. great reaction and you have a blessed day

    Peter Hollens is famous for his layering! The background vocals are ALL Peter Hollens' own voices layered upon layer upon layer upon layers! Peter Hollens has incredible range especially high range up to counter tenor range. What is phenomenal about Tim Foust is also TIM FOUST'S incredible range! Tim can sing very very low down from G'1 all the way up high as A5 tenor range! Not all bass singers sing high range like Tim Foust does! Tim and Peter also filmed in separate locations I believe Peter was in Spain and Tim was in California, which is quite amazing continuity shown here.

  • @dagmar.6954
    @dagmar.6954 Год назад +17

    This is my favorite version of this song. The contrast in voices is beautiful. Peter in the higher tenor ranges & then paired with the true natural bass voice of Tim. And that last dragon's breath note is truly remarkable & how long he sustains it. Peter & Tim have collaborated on quite a few other songs & they are all beautiful. Peter is a master at layering voices. Check out "Sound Of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "Fire & Rain", "Teach Your Children", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "You Can Close Your Eyes", "And So It Goes", "Blackbird" & "You've Got A Friend".

    Just had to watch this one again. You know what I love about you? The way you smile, how your eyes light up, your face beams, when you hear Peter and Tim and Home Free... It shows that you really like it, and yes, I want you to explore Peter Hollens more. Peter and Home Free made some truly beautiful songs together, Amazing Grace, I still haven't found what I'm looking for! Peter also collabs with other awesome people, I fell in love with, through their music together.

    Geoff Castellucci, bass singer in the a cappella group VoicePlay (and friend of Tim's) did his own version of this song under the title Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold. His final know sounds the same as Tim's to me. Wonderful video. I highly recommend it. Peter has done a couple other Hobbit songs I really enjoy watching. There's The Hobbit Drinking Song feat. Hank Green. My favorite is I See Fire (not the one with Taylor Davis). The layering Peter did on this song is AMAZING!! Enjoy!

      Tim coached Geoff on the dragon breath note. If you look on you tube you used to be able to find an interview with Geoff talking about Tim teaching him that in order to hit the lows you need to practice on you higher voice notes it further exersizes the vocal cords and helps them to stretch.

    Peter and Tim have been friends and collaborators for years. just type in their names and you will get a list of song collaborations, like "The Sound Of Silence", "Greensleeves", and "Sunshine On My Shoulders." Plus, the ones that he features with Home Free, like U2 "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." That rabbit hole is also deep.

    I still love that if you look closely at the original video, you can actually see the camera shaking from the resonance frequency of Tim's low dragon note there. So cool!
    Peter Hollens is hands down the master of layering. He uses laying of his (and collaborators if he's not doing solo stuff) in almost all of his songs, and they are beyond amazing. Greensleeves is one that he did with Tim and I also love his solo rendition of Loch Lamond. All of Peter's stuff is absolutely amazing.

    Peter Hollens has a huge discography that covers a wide variety of music-- fantasy, folk, hymns, Pop, Disney, showtunes... The list goes on and on. There is a beautiful piece he did with Avi Kaplan who is the bass vocalist from mega accapella group Pentatonix. It's a tiny little gem, but it shimmers quite brilliantly. It's called Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair. You probably won't get too many requests for it but I KNOW that you will absolutely love it. 🎶🎵🎙💖

    The parallel 4th section is so beautiful, you never, ever hear that in modern music. But for a long time hundreds of years ago it was an innovation in harmony used in church music, before the power of the 3rd interval was recognized, and before modern harmonies became a thing. So it's a really cool arrangement choice to use them here, it sounds appropriately ancient and ethereal
