    The visual trick Geoff used with the "back up dancers" is that, yes he played the music slower and sped things up slightly, but he also removed every third frame from the film of him dancing. That is the same trick used in movies like the Ring (though there they removed more than just one frame) to give that creepy movement visual.

    Geoff has said “Did you pick up on the "la la la" section? It's Bach's toccata and fugue in d minor, just shuffled and swung”. At the end, there is a hint of Fur Elise. Halloween is his favourite time of year and he always goes to town on his videos for it. Geoff here is Dr Frankenstein, and also Dracula, Wolfman, and the Dr's Monster. who does The Floss at the end, Hilatious. Yes there is some post production going on with the dancing. I don't know the proper term for it. So happy that you share my love for Geoff. :)

      Omg yes the fur Elise was easy to pick up but i didn’t notice the Bach toccata because of the swing rhythm. Now I totally hear it. Love it, nice work Geoff! 👌

    The dance that the Geoff-clones do for each chorus becomes gradually more complex and has more movements. The movements represent 4 classic movie monsters: Frankenstein's monster (reaching hands), Wolfman (slashing claws), Dracula (hiding behind his cape), the Mummy (wrapped up in bandages).
    This is the 2nd version of the video. When Geoff saw the first version, he thought the makeup was a little too graphic for the mood he was going for, and decided to scrap it and do it again. But Rick Underwood, who does the complex makeup for Geoff and VoicePlay wasn't available for the re-shoot, so Geoff's wife Kathy did the new makeup. It's become a little bit of a running joke for Geoff and Kathy that they have to do his Halloween video twice, since he had a lot of trouble with the green-screen shots for Ghost Rider In the Sky, his next Halloween video, and was worried that he wouldn't be able to publish it in time.

      Thank you for a great reaction and seeming to love this one as much as I do! 😉 Very few reactors notice the details involved with the chorus Geoffs, yet that's something I watch for every time - plus main Geoff's facial expressions, of course. 😊

    The monsters' dance was choreographed by Bucky, a friend from way back and member of an early iteration of VoicePlay. You can see/hear Bucky on camera as the Drunken Sailor and in the mini 500 Miles.

    Loved this Juliette....Geoff has such a creative mind and is so detail oriented, almost need to watch these a few times to catch up on all that you miss. He is an amazing artists for sure. BTW, a few days ago Geoff released this year's Halloween treat and it is another spectacular creation by Geoff and his wife mostly; It is "Jack's Lament" from the Nightmare before Christmas movie. Hope you find time to check this one out...no disappointments what so ever. Cheers ❤❤

    When I think about how hard he must work on these, to line up the background perfectly behind each Geoffette, every movement in sync...whew! Just thinking about it blows my mind.

    • @shirleykarr560

      Geoff and Kathy set up four cameras when they have clones in the video. Only Geoff moves, being careful not to move the camera or anything on set, and film the entire video for each clone. Then he layers them in post production.

      @@shirleykarr560 Cool, thanks for the info! But how does the background work?

    • @shirleykarr560
      @shirleykarr560 Год назад +2

      @@DravenGal the background here is an actual set. Each character is on a vertical slice of film that when they're put together shows the full background. It only works if the cameras aren't bumped and nothing in the set is moved. Except Geoff. It can be done with just one camera, though it's trickier to line up the shots for filming and editing.
      At least, that's my understanding of how the process works.

      @@shirleykarr560 Thanks for the explanation! I'm sure it's more complicated than it sounds. Kinda hard to wrap my brain around it!

    • @janetdw
      @janetdw Год назад +1

      @@DravenGalIn the behind the scenes for big bad John, Kathy explained it pretty well. They have to make sure that he does not move out of that slice that is being filmed at that point.
      When they did I See Fire, he was holding the bow in his left hand and it kept disappearing into the slice of video that was meant for the next character so they had to re-film that and I noticed that he held it more in the center and to the right.
      I used to like to take a lot of pictures and try to make a Panorama shots by slicing my prints and taping them together so it was an extra long print. It’s sort of the same technique.

    The monsters' dance represents certain famous monsters: Frankenstein, outstretched arms; Wolfman, slashing claws; Dracula, cape in front of his face; The Mummy, arms wrapped around the body.

    The backup Geoffs will have filmed their parts with the music playing slower. Bringing it back up to speed accentuates the stops in the movement. It's really well done here.

    Other than the chorus, this version has greatly expanded everything from the simple original novelty song. The three standing Geoffs were from the early Universal monster movies, Dracula, Wolfman, and (Frankenstein's) Monster.
