I've loved this song since I was a kid, and Geoff absolutely crushes it! I love his work with VoicePlay, but I love his solo work even more.
Have you ever done any reactions to Dan Vasc? If not, you really should! He's absolutely amazing! He does a wide range of covers, as well as original music with his band Fearless and the bands OD and Orion's Reign. Give him a listen!

Jennifer I've been grooving to this song at Halloween since 1962 when Bobby Pickett and the Crypt Kickers introduced us to this upbeat fun song ! This is the absolute best cover and it was so original and fabulously fun ! Geoff did a fantastic job and I have recorded this version for our Halloween bash ! It's a visual and musical performance for the ages ! So so good and fun!!!!! Thank you again for your analysis and comments ! I can see you loved it immensely ! Geoff can rattle off bass notes that can rattle and shake any room you're in ! Fabulous !! Enjoyed it so much ! Keep posting sweetheart you're the best !! 👍🤗🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️❤️

He's such a genius arranger. Geoff: "Did you pick up on the "la la la" section? It's Bach's toccata and fugue in d minor, just shuffled and swung".: There's also a hint at the end, of Fur Elise. I first saw the patrons only version of a static wide shot showing all the dancing, and laughed all the way through. :)

I think the hand motions he does when doing low notes help him like prepare himself for them and sort of are part of his muscle memory for them. At least that's what it feels like.

Looking and sounding so lovely Jennifer! Geoff and his buddies in VoicePlay all take such pride and joy in the creative process and they put great efforts into making the most entertaining videos. Not to detract from Geoff's musical skill, but he's been singing professionally for more than 20 years. Now he's gone the extra distance from just standing in front of a mic to making every performance visually and emotionally satisfying! Love your analysis and eagerly awaiting your next release! Be well!

I'm very late to the comment party, but 🤷🏻‍♀️.
I have a tendency to be picky about watching reactors, since a majority just sit there, slack jawed, until the video is through. Then it's 'thanks for watching!' So, thank you for the analysis, I appreciate it.
I believe another commenter (or two) mentioned that Geoff is very good at putting the pertinent information about his video's in the description, so you *can* always check there. Generally, he and Kathy do pretty much everything for his videos (except for the audio mixing and occasionally some other roles).
I will mention though, with this one, his choreographer, is not only an old friend, he was also a member of VoicePlay back in the beginning days, when they were called 4:2:Five. I don't think many people realized that. 🙂

This was great fun! Geoff, along with Tim Faust from Home Free, are my favorite bass singers at the moment. Such incredible talent. Voiceplay recently released a cover of the theme for the game Halo. It's completely different from what they typically do and features a former member, Scott Porter, who was a member back before they renamed themselves to Voiceplay from 42five (pronounced four-two-five. If Scott looks familiar he became an actor following leaving 42Five, and has played an investigator in the show "The Good Wife" as well as many other roles in other TV shows). Loved your reaction/analysis Jen. Always look forward to your video posts. A fun observation about the choreography that someone made, is that the 4 dance moves correspond to 4 traditional monsters: Arms out, Frankenstein's monster; arms back, claws up, Wolfman; arm in front of face as if holding a cape, Dracula; arms hugging sides, the Mummy. And then as it progresses, those basic moves get more and more elaborate. Also, I believe he originally shot those around 70% speed while dancing, then when the speed was increased to full, that's what gives them that jerky look. The 3 dancers would be Dracula, Wolfman and Frankenstein's monster. And the piano notes at the end while Wolfman's scratching, I personally like to think he's scratching his 'für elise'.... (sorry!) :)

To truly appreciate the genius that is this arrangement, I feel like you also have to listen to the original song after listening to Geoff's cover. He took a song made in the 60's and enhanced the sound making it sound fuller than it originally was, adding parts that weren't in the original like Kathy's (his wife) creepy laugh and scream at the start and end respectively, and he made it his own song while still paying homage to the original. Lovely reaction. Try reacting to Voiceplay's Nightmare Before Christmas cover songs.

If you keep putting up reactions to PTX, Home Free and Voiceplay, plus the solo channels of their current and former members, you'll pick up a lot of new subscribers and you'll never be out of a job. Thank you.
Voiceplay did several songs from Nightmare Before Christmas. They also did Little Mermaid Medley (where you can hear Geoff (as Ursula) slide about 4 octaves on one note) and You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.
Of their just plain singing performances (no makeup or costumes), Tennessee Whiskey would be a good choice to hear various members do runs.
Geoff started singing as a solo multitracker last year, probably because the group lost Earl Elkins and because of COVID. They've since lost JNone also. They're still in transition, So the recent Voiceplay vids have a lot of guest artists.
All of Geoff's "solo" vids so far, except Melekalikimaha, are multitracked with 4 or sometimes 5 Geoffs. He also has vids where he reads Edgar Allan Poe.

He did it all in this and most of his solos. His wife helps too sometimes. The woman in this video is his wife.

Since it's Halloween month, try checking out his version of "Headless Horseman" as well. More of Geoff's story telling mastery.

You started with "I'm scared". Funny fact...this was the 2nd version he recorded - he felt the first one came out as more a horror movie!

Hi! Thanks for your analysis... with Voiceplay you cant go wrong in any way, all the options are good. I recommend "Bang!", "Kiss", "Tennesse Whiskey", "Carry On Wayward Son"... and so many more! 😅. In a more Halloween note, they have "Whats this?", "This is Halloween", "Kidnap the sandy claws", "Superstition"... and they will soon release a new spooky Disney song!

Pun not intended, but I LOVE the deadpan delivery by "narrator" Geoff 😁👻💀🎉 juxtaposed to the more "lively" ghoul chorus 😅

I saw this in the comments on the original video, but when Geoff hits the low notes, you can see Kathy twitch. Even she is not immune to the effect of those low notes. XD
Considering VP as a whole will sing along while recording the videos, even if they don't use the audio from the video, as it helps make sure you get the right shapes Geoff probably is here too. So I can only imagine she is hearing those notes live as they record and anyone would be affected by that.
    Edit: Spelling (Gotta love Dyslexia...)

Now that you are enjoying both Geoff and Voiceplay, there are a few ones to react to: Voiceplay: my mother told me, Bang, if I were a rich girl, Queen medley, you're a mean one Mr Grinch, Hoist the Colours, this is halloween. And one with home free - Survivor: Zombies vs Hillbillies
Geoff: far over the misty mountains, take me home country roads, Blackbird, sixteen tons, the Bear Necessities (jungle book), the headless horseman

If you really want to see character and/or choreography from Voice Play, I have to suggest Queen in 5 minutes (amazing characters) and the boy band medley (just so very very fun)

I loved this when it was new in the '60s. Made it so much more fun. Geoff busting a move. Props to his choreographer. His wife Kathy was a great screaming, dead woman. The Foley sound effects made you cringe.
