The contrast between the low, rumbly notes and his higher octave really gives the highs such an ethereal feel in this. Not breathy, but they feel almost 'wispy' like swirling fog to me. And that spare environment just reinforces it.

It starts out haunting, and ends up heartbreaking. And yes his humour is subtle but always there.

The song of Geoff's that this reminds me of the most is Rains of Castamere, another one where he stayed in the low end of his range for almost all of the song. In fact, in RoC I don't think the lead Geoff EVER came out of his low range, but the clones did sing up higher in some of their harmony.

Geoff is my favorite, always. His baritone range is really my favorite, if I had to pick one.

This is one of those subtle and subversive covers that turns the original over and looks underneath to find the hidden gems and brings them out for us to experience. Masterclass.

So happy he bought that piano for his video Till Then. His son is now taking piano lessons and he has used it in a few videos.

Thankfully, it's a rented studio. But that made getting the piano in there something of a hassle, since it was just Geoff and Kathy doing the unloading and loading!

@@Badger77722 thanks for that. I guess that's what you call suffering for your art. Good thing they didn't have a grand piano 😉

@@richeswebcraft Especially since Geoff actually picked it up and carried it! I couldn't believe that when I watched the Behind the Scenes. I had assumed they put it on a cart. But no.

Hi, I know you've got many Lucy Thomas songs to review, including Memory and Starlight, (both sung at age 15) but one of her earlier duets with Martha, 'When You Believe', is also amazing and you should review it whenever you have the time Juliet 🙂 Lucy was 17 and Martha only 11. Her first official recording of 'One Day' (also from Rosie) and when she was just aged 13 is also a pleasure to watch. As is 'She Used To Be Mine', from the musical Waitress, sung at age 14.

I'm always wondering why any reactor analyzes Geoff's mouth shape. How do you know his mouth shape while actually singing? Is there footage of him in his studio?

If you go to Geoff's channel you can find shorts of him singing in his studio, this shows that the face shapes he uses in his videos do match

There is some footage, but often, the artist will sing along for the video so you get the same thing, even though the audio is pre-recorded.
Also, they may not always need to see it at all. Sometimes, you can tell what a person's mouth shape is just from the sound they're creating. They'll just point it out in the video so we can understand what they're referring to.

His voice wants to sing it?
Voices can't think for themselves, much less control themselves.
