One audio tip is to talk past the mic and not directly at the mic. Plosives are a problem even for pop filters if you push air through them and at the mic. Some are more sensitive than others. Think of the air going into a tube. You don't want that to happen for great audio from talent. Another tip for inexperienced talent is to coach them a little prior to shooting.
When using lavs many people will cough or cover their mouths and the air and cough will blast the microphone with volume. This is excruciating for listeners that are using headphones. The last thing that kills your video is a dry or "gucky" mouth or tongue noise.
But that's a whole video in itself. Just make sure talent has water and maybe back off the mic a little. Post production can take down the highs is this slips by location mixer.

I couldn’t agree more, I’ve been using my iPhone and gimbal and slowly have added in other equipment. My videos aren’t the best, but are getting better. And actually as your viewing audience grows they will see how you’ve improved behind and in front of the camera. One thing I did notice in your video is your iPhone watch around your phone. Is that just for show or do you use it to see how you’re looking while you film? If it’s to see how you look as you film that is awesome! I might have to get the watch if that works.
Yea it’s amazing I wear one when recording n use it to stop n start recordings. Would definitely help. I nvr thought to put it on the iPhone tho. Definitely gotta try

Agreed!!! Looking for the perfect camera has postponed me from making videos. Also setting up a camera every time is overwhelming and annoying so for now I’ll just use my phone lol and I do photo/ video of other people for a living with pro dslrs it’s much different when you’re filming yourself and have no assistance! Lol

I think this is the most helpful video yet. I use an iPhone XR for all my videos and it's great. My only problem has been audio. I haven't learned it yet. And a couple of people have brought it up. So the link to the audio video will be helpful also.

I think the mic (headphones) from the iPhone is good enough, you might need to process the audio later on editing

Thank you for the tips. My channel is still faceless but I wonder if it would be better to record myself, at least at the beginning. I do have a GoPro but I'm learning how to use it. It's not helpful to have the best camera on the world when we don't know how to use it. That's why a cell phone is so appealing. Thanks!

Thanks for the tips! the Low mids on that mic plugged into your phone is annoying, so if there is a way to eq a couple db off that audio source, it would be an amazing setup!

It is 5:00am where I am, so I am lying on my bed watching on my laptop my iphone 12 pro is in the living room, all of the videos of my channel I had filmed with my iphone enjoying the process so far, I do plan to at least upgraded my laptop because for some reason my laptop don't recognize my iphone when importing contents.
I have an iPhone 12 and I always use the front camera for my videos I went ahead and changed the camera setting to 4K at 60 fps to make my videos more crisp and clear as ever

Great video! Quick question though. When should i attach a light above my phone and when should i have the light to the side instead? I imagine if I’m doing b roll of a product i should keep the light to the side so I’m not moving the light source constantly. I just woke up so i don’t know if I’m making sense lol. Thanks

Hi Nolan.. I want to use my iphone 13 and I prefer the front facing cam and I am really struggling with where to look so it looks like I am looking at the audience when I am shooting Landscape! You know how the camera is actually on top right and looking at the green dot (as suggested by some) def doesn't work. What do you suggest? Thanks.

iPhone 13 Pro here. Interior real estate videos get very grainy in darker rooms using both wide & ultra wide lenses.
I shot this large hotel room first & it looked decent on the phone but very grainy in FCPx. Used Filmic Pro, 4K, 60fps & 120 shutter.
DJI OM4.
I brought some lights in & I reshot it & it came out better but still not great. Still grainy.
The room wasn't really that dark.
Disappointed so far.

I am using my Iphone 13 to shoot video but downloading to my computer to edit takes forever and I lose some clarity when it goes through the process. Is there a faster way to get a video from the Iphone 13 to my PC? My videos run upward of 20 minutes and that turns into an all night download. Thanks for your help!

Hey Nolan, was one of the outside shots at Desert Shores, here in Vegas? It looked VERY familiar.
What watch is that? It shows up a few times in the video, but you never mentioned it. It’s also in the thumbnail.
I use my iPhone to record.. I now have the 13 Pro, and using cinematic mode for my talking head videos has been so great! I wish cinematic was actually 4K, but iPhone 14 Pro for that I guess.. please do a video using cinematic mode to see if anyone notices the difference
