I made Beet chips for the first time a week ago. I only had one left so could not cook a meal so said why not?! I tell you I was shocked. Very tasty!! I made it twice. Lol
I was using foil and they turned out soggy mistake No. 1 High heat for sort time burning them mistake No. 2 Not finding this tutorial earlier mistake No. 3 Thank you x
I've been watching your videos for a few months. I enjoy your meticulous presentation. However, these crisps looks so colourful and healthy. I'm going to make an attempt!
You're simply the best !!you give me so many ideas what to prepare for my 4 kids on a daily basis ..your recipes are healthy and super super delicious I've tried the sweet potatoes chips only because I wasn't sure if my kids will eat beets ..they loved the sweet potatoe chips they ate the whole bowl and I did enjoyed too
Thank you for sharing! I love turning white & sweet potatoes, garden fresh beets & carrots into delicious chips using either my dehydrator or air fryer! Sharing them & making chips helps them not to go to waste! It’s fun to season them up & crunch away!!! 😍
Marvellous! I'm hooked on veggie chips but fed up with paying a fortune for a few grams. Also, the commercial types are very oily. Thank you for this video :)
I must say, i LOVE the ending comments from the guy. I can see he is trying to be honest which helps a lot. Great videos. best i've seen (and i've seen a lot) Keep it up!!
Thanks for this video. I recently ordered chip making pans from Pampered Chef, and they recommend baking chips at 425 degrees, which burns them. I'll try this method at low temp.
Beautifully and artistically filmed, as always. I would love it if you would publish a cookbook. I'm sure it would be beautifully produced as well as full of wonderful recipes.
They don't sell left-handed equipment where I live, but if you have Ikea in your area, they have a very good ambidextrous peeler. It's not the cheapest I've come across, but relatively affordable and it's really good quality. I've had mine for several years now. By the way, I know it's kind of silly probably, but one of the reasons I like your channel is because you're left-handed. It's sort of comforting to not see everything performed in reverse for once.
I mean, I'm obviously not here JUST for your left-handedness, I like your recipes and your presentation, but with so many cooking channels out there, this is just one of the things that made your channel stand out for me. ^_^ There are probably other places that sell ambidextrous peelers. They're likely not even designed as ambidextrous, they're just designed so right-handed people can peel toward or away from themselves, but they dub nicely as a leftie peeler. I had another ambidextrous one before that I just happened to find in a random supermarket, but it broke very quickly. Ikea's is just the best one I've owned. I think the Y-shaped peelers tend to be ambidextrous by default, but I find those kind of uncomfortable. That's just me though.
Thank you! I have so loved all of your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and in such an easy to understand way. I am loving the easy options for my clean eating. I hope that you had a great thanksgiving and please keep posting!
NutritionRefined: Thank you so much for your prompt answer to my question about using dehydrators for this recipe. I've used it for apple slices which gives the house a delicious, festive aroma for days. I may have trouble slicing the root veggies thin enough, though. My daughter always asks me what I want for Christmas, so I think I'll suggest a slicer. She always gets me something useful and fun and a slicer would fill the bill. I've "liked" and subscribed and am looking forward to more of your great ideas. Thanks again, DBB. :0)
@@NutritionRefined :Thanks, - don't the crisps get raw on just a food dehydrator though? MAybe they cook if on highest temp, but I't have thought they just dry much faster, without really cooking? - I'm looking for a less fat solution than deep frying, which I have never don e but thought of doing on neutral Coconut oil. Otherwise th oven. But it seems to take a long time and need a lot of baby-sitting to check they don't burn, don't stay soggy etc.Advice for burnt out beginner?
@@NutritionRefined Thank you, I'll se what 150 F is. My Evermat melts its plastic at the highest temp which is 60.0 Celsius. Do they get cooked in your take please? Never heard of anything apart from baking tray paper (correct english?)Is the PP perforated or how is it not steaming the chips as much? Is it re-usable many times? Why advising me to use 150.o F when u use 200- 220.0 F?
On my way to buy some yams and sweet potatoes to make it 🏃🏾♀️😋 I used to buy it from healthy food section, although it’s fried with vegetable oil. I like yours because it’s less oil
What about boiling the chips before, dry them out with a towel and then bake them? Would that reduce the cooking time and yet make them crispy? Great video :-D
Boiling would ADD moisture to them. You want to take moisture OUT. That's why she said do not have the potato (two types) chips in the water to remove starch for long.
I gave you a "thumbs-up" for this recipe! Baked, crisp root veggies are good all around. I have a dehydrator and would like to use it for this purpose. Could you add a bit of information to the recipe and let us know how you do this? Thanks in advance. DBB
Hi, love the video i am definitely going to try it Just a question- can i store these for sometime like two/ three days for a trip out of town? Thanks X
Those look delicious. I was thinking if you slice the carrots on the diagonal you would get a larger chip. I was wondering why you peel everything? I have had good luck putting chips on a cooling rack with a tight grid with no parchment paper, which seems to let them dry out faster.
Kristi A. Jones: I'm right-handed and my daughter is left-handed. Does that mean that I'm "bad" and she's "good"? Sorry I had to "thumbs down" on your comment as it was kind of hurtful. DBB
Of course I read after that these were oven baked lol... Ive been trying in the dehydrator with white but no luck.. Are you by chance making a video with a dehydrator? thanks
I think because the first time I boiled too long and the 2nd time I left raw and put in vinegar overnight. I got the recipe from a raw vegan RUclips.... which I think that was too long but I wanted to follow to the T... I thought maybe the potatoes might have been to soft as well... I did love the fact for the processor to chop them BC my first time I chopped and I said I will not do that again 😹
the one with the over boiled was hard not crispy and the raw was crispy but did not taste like food lol... thanks for your response.. I would really rather make them myself
Can you bake two racks at a time without risking steaming? There’s just not enough surface area. “Mandolin blades are really sharp” is an understatement. Everyone everywhere that has used these infernal devices has sliced the tip of a finger off. Its the force and speed and angle more than the sharpness that’s a problem. Gotta get me a food processor.

Agree ..I did the same.
Same did this in a hurry before going to work 😩
We can hear the crunch!

Rosanella di-Costanzo
This is probably healthier then store brought veggie chips. They’re just potatoes with flavoring
I really Love Beets and what a Fantastic idea to also have them in a Chip Form. Thnx for the Idea and Inspiration.

Wow! Now I’m wondering if I can do my sugar peas and green beans the same way! I’m sure going to try! Thank u!
I am a simple girl. I see that Petra has uploaded a new video, I click
Thank you for TEACHING us! 😉
Thank you for this video, we have an organic garden that's producing copious amounts of food. I'm going to try chip making today.
Wow!!the crispy veggie chips look so delicious and yummy!!awesome recipe beautifully presented with detailed ingredients and your expert tips!!

Hi Petra! I'm left handed too! Thank you for one more relaxing beautiful recipe!
NutritionRefined Hi Petra I have a peeler for right handed people too. Is your daughter left handed too?
Beautifully and artistically filmed, as always. I would love it if you would publish a cookbook. I'm sure it would be beautifully produced as well as full of wonderful recipes.
Those chips are really, really beautiful.
Try all your baked recipes with the Air fryer. An online order would have one in your home this week! Happy cheffing!
Does the bake time change? Or should I still airfry them for 30'+30'??
I kind of got confused with "Chips" because I'm from the UK, but I realised that in Canada and America, they're named differently.
We call them chips in Australia too
Always good recipes. thanks

I was thinking who you remind me of. Vanessa Paradis! Beautiful you and your channel, thank you!
These look so delicious!
Excellent video! Thank you!
I make veggie chips out of cassava (yucca) and taro! Going to try yam and sweet potato today :')
Amazing can u do one for okra chips

what a great video
Tfs! Awesome 2 southpaws!! I dont know if there is a left handed gadget to peel!! 🍇🏡🍟👒☕💗🐦🐱
Would love to make these, but I don't have a good option for slicing atm. But will remember for the future!
NutritionRefined ooo thanks for the tip! I'll give it a go!
You are so talented and the chips came out beautifully. Love your videos! Do u think using a dehydrator the chips would come out just as nice?
👍I’m going to try these. Thank you for the demo. 💞
God bless you both

Healthy but good looks so yummy😊👍🏽
Hi, I am left handed too 💕💕 + i love all your recipes
Super super super healthy chips
Thanks. I want to try.
Amazing!! I love chips but trying to avoid them... Can't wait to try these... Thanks!!!! Hello from Michigan!!
Great video and ideas. I love your videos!

Yum! I love these! They look so good 😋. Thanks, I was really looking forward to this video after having seen the green leafy ones 😍.
me encantaaaaaaa...... thanks 👌🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
After soaking vegetables in water and then wiping off moisture
Is it alright?
Because I wanted to try it from before
Thank you for telling me details!
Hi, love the video i am definitely going to try it
Just a question- can i store these for sometime like two/ three days for a trip out of town? Thanks X
They look yummy
nice video. we have vacuum fryer machine for making crispy chips.
thanks!! helped a lot!!
Can’t wait to make these! What is the best way to store them? Will they lose their crispness?
Those look delicious. I was thinking if you slice the carrots on the diagonal you would get a larger chip. I was wondering why you peel everything? I have had good luck putting chips on a cooling rack with a tight grid with no parchment paper, which seems to let them dry out faster.
I'm going to make it soon😍
Fantastic!
Can we make it in dehydrator? Thanks.
Good job
Could you cook them in an air fryer?
Yum. Thank you.
Great video. Also, things the don't tell you: sweet potatoes are really hard to slice.
What type of Yam do you use?
ALL good people are left-handed! I should know....I an one! These look delicious!
Kristi A. Jones: I'm right-handed and my daughter is left-handed. Does that mean that I'm "bad" and she's "good"? Sorry I had to "thumbs down" on your comment as it was kind of hurtful. DBB
Can you show us how to make pineapple chips?
They are really delicious!😋
Whenever I make them they turn out chewy not crispy.
_Crispy and yummy chips_
My god you are too good ....
Great Vid! Unfortunately, parchment paper is virtually unheard of in the UK, as rare as the unicorn, or a generous taxman!
It's all over the place, check Tesco, Wilko etc. It's called baking paper.
Why the whatchamahooey for the beets and carrots, but the food processor for the yams?
how do we store these and for how long can they be stored?
What are you using to slice?
And I'm left handed too! 😄
What model food processor is this?? Anyone know
It's a Breville Sous Chef (the link is in the description box below the video if you're interested).
@@NutritionRefined Thank you very much!!! Also the "Mandoline" link seems to be redirecting to colored pencils
Where can I get that Mandoline?
The peeler is designed for both left and right handed people. See the butterfly double blade in the middle!
Yaaaaam look delicious
Why don't you use extra virgin olive oil?
Would this work for turnips??
I followed same method mine turned out soggy & chewy, even after keeping longer. What might have gone wrong?
Nice recipe.. If we use dehydrator instead, will it yield the same result?
NutritionRefined Thank you. Now I can confidently make this recipe using my dehydrator. 😊❤
Have you tried these in an air fryer
What is the name of the machine you use to slice it?
That is a very cool food processor. Anyone recognize which brand that is?
Is it possible to have less crispy chips by having a little bit of excess water?
Of course I read after that these were oven baked lol... Ive been trying in the dehydrator with white but no luck.. Are you by chance making a video with a dehydrator? thanks

Super
THANKS I LOVE U
Nice
Can you an Air Fryer for this ???
Wait. What did I miss? Why are the veggies stiff coming out of the water and crunchy like when they go into the bowl?
Yummy! Actually makes me want to eat beats!
