- THESE FILIPINO WOODEN SCOOTERS ARE INSANE!! Seriously, they go really fast down hills, and remind me of X GAMES Luge!
I did not expect to stumble upon these while out for a bike ride in Cagayan de Oro Mindanao. It was just a regular day, and I thought I would go for a hike! Nope... I ended up doing Filipino luge!! These kids were freaking cool! And their unique wooden scooters were awesome!
IS THIS SAFE!? WELL... IT IS FUN! :)
Power On!

REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THESE KIDS!! They call them scooters.... but I think WOODEN X GAMES STYLE LUGE is a better description!
❤️❤️
be careful people not wearing mask, atleast 6ft away to them.
Those kids are happy enjoying their inventions....
BecomingFilipino Inspirational videos. It’s great to see parts of the Philippines opening up.
That looks funnnn.
I’m glad to see kids still play outdoors and not glued on screen 📺. That’s how we roll in the Philippines 🇵🇭 kids still rock back home
I don't think if these kids has screens. They are very intelligent finding ways to enjoy life, despite of poverty.
Who needs screens when you're living the life on the fast lane?
old skool nga pare.
Its Sadly they coudn't afford but they can afford happiness 😁😁
Coz they can’t afford gadgets.. like me when i was kid..
We used to use the bearings similar to this on billy carts in the 70s in OZ 🇦🇺 that just brought back some memories even the sound WOW 🤩
This is really the strength of your vlog, outside... interacting with random people, showing beautiful scenery and genuine fun...still a lot of surprises await you in this beautiful country...more power and be cool with each other!!!
Find a long downward road and you're set. Played with this when i was a kid. Basic part is you need 3 bearings, a thick plank wood, long wood for steering, some assembly required. Your flip flops(tsinelas) are brakes. 😅
Those kids were probably thrilled getting to know you and getting your attention. I can now imagine them watching this vlog and seeing themselves in action. You have gained friends for life. Great vibes!!!!
This looks a lot of fun! When I was young, I remember going downhill riding coconut leaves like it was a sled.
I saw something like that the other day on dustin backpacks, riding leaves down the hill after a bit too much tuba lol. kids in PH especially provinces are just so happy and how kids around the world should be , not just sat in front of tv playing xbox and stuff :)….oh how I wish I was pinoy lol
Yes True..
So this is a time machine? Bringing me back to my childhood days. Miss it! Thanks Kulas.
We're So Glad That You came Here on the Philippines to Share The Things that we Do , No Wonder Half of You're Subscriber Are From PH U deserve an Honorable Commendation For Filipinos
i know its difficult times right now and must be frustrating for u but vlogs like this are what made me subscribe to your channel so long ago. interactions with locals and the little barangays and stuff that most tourists/foreigners don't get to see. the kids smiles and happiness there is contagious. PH is so awesome and like utopia for me
There's always a surprise everywhere.
These luge, scooters as they called, are unique. Yes, astig!
My experience with the luge was at Mont Tremblant in Quebec. It was fun. But there's no comparison with these kids creating their own design. Wow! Super inventive. Super apir🤗
Even I am girl in my young days I play that with my cousins and friends girls and boys. We are happy playing outdoor is the best rather than gadgets. Live to see this in your blog. Mabuhay and God Bless you.
loved this video..so much fun everywhere you go.The Filipino can always take something simple and make it Great!!! I miss the Philippines Mabuhay!!!!
we are on MGCQ here in La Union too. Went into San Fernando... super busy too. Traffic is back! Kids are having fun! They are training the the Philippine Bobsled team! ;-)

Not true so not true I'm Filipino but I hate my life cuz my grandma would always blame me for something I didn't done and my cousin always do it but my grandma doesn't get mad at her so I hate my life so much
Wezzley Pascual yes your right not all part of philippines mostly its more fun in the provinces .
Well now is different than before 90’s is more fun all over philippines not to much gadget at that time that’s why all the children before is playing physical and mentally not like now..
ac _ actually nowadays is different you need to challenge yourself make your grandma proud thats it
Omg Omg you finally went to Gusa! That Cebuana Luillier with the big mango tree behind it is our compound and my home until I was 15! I’m so happy right now!!!! 😭😭😭
Mukha mo parang Japanese... hahaha
it's so nice watching you and the kids having fun kulas. those locally made scooters are awesome. it's kinda dangerous but the kids have their own way of riding it safely, and they're enjoying it. and you also enjoyed riding the scooter, kulas. keep own spreading the good vibes. super apir kulas!

Great video Kulas! You always put a smile 😊 on my face. Nice video with the kids in the village. At first I thought you had your motor, but then realized you were on a bicycle! Great exercise, but in this heat... OMG! I need to get a bicycle soon for exercise. Yes things are returning to a “new normal” with MGCQ! Power on!

Philippines might not be the richest country in the world, but the imagination of people to create things and have fun, man, it’s awesome.
It amazes me how kulas still be surprise on every little things he see's here in the philippines like that wooden scooter after living here for almost 6 yrs now.i thought he saw all d weird things in the pinas already. ❤ d good vibes 👌
I have one of those wooden scooters when I was a kid. It was made of plyboard, wooden steering wheel, and wooden lever for brake. The tire is made of wheel bearing. I always have wounds when I get home.😝😜💪
I really miss the philippines, miss the people, culture and the simple life. Greetings from manitoba
Filipino ingenuity. Missing my younger years.
wow! wow! miss that kind of kulas adventure!!! random people, random places, superb experience! #BecomingFilipino still alive!!!!

Ang bike nga gamay ligid dili pwede as bakilid dalan.

That's how creative and inventive Pinoys are 🤩🤗👏
You video today has brought back the times of our life growing up here in the mountains......playing with such....having fun. Thanks! from Baguio City.
Kyle how r u today. I was holding my breath when u tried riding d little wooden scooter. Man u need more practice but somehow u did it. It's awesome feeling to be able to have fun w/d locals. These kids r so innovative they figure out how to take advantage of d road w/enough incline to move d scooter down grade at safe speed...
Rock n roll!!! all good
@@BecomingFilipino "all good" is music to all of us. PH is moving towards normalcy but CoVid-19 is still around. Stay safe...
Daaaaaaaamn kulas another good background music brad!!!!!! Very nice luge!!!!!!! So fun to watch brad!!!😃😃😃😃
I’m Filipino-American and I’m seriously learning new things about the Philippines from your channel that I didn’t even know existed.
Yes Kulas , mao na diha 😍😍 "Onli n Da Philippines " that's why I really missed the Philippines no matter what .
This video really made me happy. naalala ko tuloy nung dati lahat kaming magkakaibigan meron trolley, iyong kapitbahay naman pisting pisti sa amin, at binubuhusan kami ng tubig o kaya nagprepretend na nagwawalis tapos iyong alikabok sinisiguradong sa amin mapupunta, haha ha super saya lang kahit pa may KJ kang Nieghbor. Thanks po Kulas.
Don’t lose that childlike wonder Kulas. That’s what’s fun about the Philippines. You can enjoy the simple pleasures and discover the kid that you once were.
Always uplifting to watch, with great tunes, good vibes, great drone shots, those kids are so brave to go so fast, oh being young and having no fear :D, and how happy they make you feel being around them, I bet that was a good rush, you trying it too, thank you for sharing,
"Got distracted" is very good. What fun you had!
We also use to make those scooters back when we were kids. We called them Kali ball-bearing, Kali for car and ball-bearing because we used ball-bearing wheels. We'd race with neighboourhood kids and see who made the best kali ball-bearing 😁😁
This is probably one of the best and funniest vlog this quarantine kulas hahahaha
That's what we called...It’s more fun in the Philippines! ❤️👍🤣super astig ! 👍🏻
If you can find a Dahon Speed TR, it has 24 speeds. The TR stands for 'touring'. I think Dahon no longer sells it but you might find it online somewhere. It looks like a typical Dahon 20" wheel bike (like what you have) but it the frame looks beefier and has racks for panniers. You can probably climb hills easily with it.
Street luge, I played that 40yrs ago, but we could stir our sledge, we have to learn to mange the drifts when we go stir the bends, it's quite a blast doing it.
I never commented this early but notif squad is real....shout from Dubai... When I go home for good, i hope i can do vlog in CDO near Viajero shop to feature you Kulas at least 5-second video. Anyway that skate-like gliding ride is so cool...very creative minds
Kyle -- That was fun. Gravity is a blast. I'm thinking the next time you are up the Malasag hill, you'll have your own wooden scooter with bare bearings for wheels (safety consideration: if you use real wheels the scooter will go too fast). Those kids have figured out the balance between speed and stop-ability.
Nlngaw kog tan aw sa imuha. You made me relive my childhood with a fresh perapective. Mkalimot mn gud ta pnagaa unsa ka gwapo ang simple nga knabuhi ky sige tag pngita ug knang wla nato..hahaha. glad u had fun..
2:23 😭😭 my home that i haven’t seen since 2001. Btw thats still Gusa but very close to Cugman already
Being with Butter at the end is relaxing after a very exhausting day.

At yung bata balak ring kagatin ng itim na aso hahahhahaa
Butter is such a sweet dog... Miss Bret and Butter vlogs 😊
Used to have one like that when I was a kid. Also got the steering on the front wheel. Ah, brings back childhood memories. Hehe Hope you had fun Lasku. 😁
Thank you Kulas. It is always fun to watch your vlogs. Keep it going. More power!
This is awesome! Reminds me of the snow days sledding around Dallas Road... especially at Clover Point Park. Miss the simpler days.
Dallas Road Victoria! Cool!
As a kid growing up in the province, i also experienced building something like that, we also used bearings as wheels but it was more like a trolley than a sled. It was more fun growing up in the province. Kulas, nice seeing you exploring outdoors again...
Hahah love to see kids still play very own down hill scooter.. We made that scooter from a 4 OR 3 PIECE BEARING AND A WOODEN BOARD every summer and find a downhill road.. And ur set for the race.. ask kuhmar o buding they know how to make that. Hhehe
Yeah ! Another vlog for todaaay 😀
And that is FUN ! So Nice
Filipino’s ingenuity and resourcefulness at it’s finest! Makaproud!
That's really creative! Making use of what they have.

Dang!! That's great exercise man. From City proper to cugman is quite far while using bicycle
dude, it's kari-ring for some country. they got long board we got kari-ring for gnarly riding.
Hahaha mao na ang giingon Kulas. "only in the Philippines" ra jud na hehehe. But OMG..I was so scared when you are going downhill. That was so close to the edge.
Oh...Kyle enjoying it much..That's pilipino ingenuity..Keep safe...
Good old school style Kulas video hanging with the locals and having fun.
Wish kids in big cities or developed countries would make these crude, DIY toys themselves. They'll enjoy more and appreciate the higher sentimental values they offer in contrast to the bought ones.
Kulas, great video shot 0:15 of the kid. The hard work of vlogging.
💯😁
Also the guys 2:40 in the moped recognized you, laid by to get included in the video.
🇵🇭🇨🇦❤️ Go Fighter boys 💪👊
Women 6:15 recognized and loved you man.
Stupid dog 🐕 9:14
Hahaha
Be careful Kulas stay safe sa new things na tinatry mo. Take care. Stay healthy and have a safe trip in your travel vlog.
Hi there kuya kulas.. During these more than two months of quarantine, your vlogs toured me around the Philippines. I subscibed to you bcoz i felt your sincerety in becoming a Filipino.. 👣💖

I missed cdo, thanks kulas for alway making videos for us to get a glimpse of our beautiful city

I'm so excited just watch kids play for happy with kule is heart😄
WOW! So much fun. Love that ride 😍...
Hello kulas i like all your videos you always keeps me happy
Kulas you made my day so much fun watching this video
HAHAHA I remember this when in my childhood days, I was liking to make those go-kart and compete them to race back then especially in summer when no vehicles are around downhill on the road since there is no classes at our school hahaha.
When i was kid, i used to make one of those scooter with a bling-bling, and then race with my friends. You have to find out too how kids make "trumpo", and how they play it. And the grilled banana, ahhhh, i miss that..
That was crazy driving, Kulas! Back to innocence!
sana open na mga borders at para maka travel na rin ako and create videos of the Philippines! looks so fun, gusto ko rin i visit yan!
Its been years since i went up malasag. Thats a new trend up there...
We also use the large coconut spathe dish. It's much faster if you used it on the inclined plane with grass.. 😁😁😁😁
I've had such nostalgic experience riding that thing. We call it 'trolley' (don't know the correct spelling, lol).
It's fun riding it in full speed but it's scary at the same time. My rubber slippers had suffered so much then. It got holes but it's okay. Part of experience as a kid 25 years ago.
I miss my childhood times.
Those were the days!....pra sa mga bata gadgets na nila yan...Power On Kulas!, ingat!
Woahhh..wanting to visit CDO and meet you sir. A big fan of yours. God bless
