    ROLL vs FOLD 👇 What's the best way?

    • @amritawhitman8112
      @amritawhitman8112 Месяц назад +1

      The Folding Lady has a couple of helpful packing videos. She demonstrated using compression packing cubes vs non-compression cubes, that folding rather than rolling clothes in a compression cube will give you a flat finish cube and can potentially free up more space in your luggage than what you'll get by rolling them because rolling your clothes in compression cubes creates a bulkier packing cube. So rolling works better with regular cubes instead of compression cubes. If space isn't as much of a concern, the advantage to rolling is that you can easily see your clothes as you simply move your cube to a dresser drawer at your destination. You can see that part of her video here: ruclips.net/video/0q2LI4fIVLw/видео.html

      I’m with you…both whatever works for the item. I did find it interesting that you packed by day rather than item type especially if you plan to mix and match along the way. I’m leaning towards bottoms w/unders, dress/skirts w/unders, tanks and blouses w/bras, layering pieces. Miscellaneous bag with socks scarf pjs…I’m allowing myself to buy any just incase item - maybe a trench or bootie if weather is more foul. Since my trip is 6 weeks, I’ll only know the weather for the first week or 2 and I will be moving around alot. (France). Thoughts- advice? Its my first time in Europe leaving mid September.

      i mostly roll, but sometimes fold an item on top of my top-opening packing cubes. which reminds me: any plans to create this style? for me, they are the most effective. the wrapping method is completely nutty. you have to unwrap the whole thing to get to anything. 😅

    I’m only using a 36L backpack (usually counts as a personal item) for all trips now: one big packing cube for all outer clothes, one small packing cube for undies, socks, sports and swimming suits, and a shoe bag for 1-2 pairs of shoes. Plus a toiletry bag, an electrics bag, and a laptop bag. Raincoat in outer poach of the backpack, water bottle (and sometimes umbrella) in the side poaches. I’m packing lighter than my husband 🎉

    I went to London last year with lots of elegance for 7 days. I started “packing” well in advance. By the time I put it in my carryon I had made all of the substitutions and deletions I would typically have done the day before. It was my first flight since Sept 2019.
    My suitcase as packed was perfect. I was always comfortable and well dressed.

    I have to confess, I am skeptical about the everyday. On a longer trip there are a lot of everydays…i think i need more clothes than just one everyday outfit. I agree with the travel day and the essential day philosophy…but i feel like i need 3 more tops and another bottoms or another dress for the everyday. Have to be careful they are light materials to fit them all in. So I guess I am using a combination of this 3 day method and the old fashioned 5 tops 2 pants 2 dresses ! I’ll just pretend I change a lot on my everyday. 😂😂😂 I will test the method on my next trip..until then the jury is out ! But i still love it. Keep these videos coming !! Think i need some of those pretty packing cubes now…

      For a substantial trip 3 shirts x 2 bottoms, if they all match each other, make 6 outfits, (so take more/less as needed) and I also count on items picked up along the way as I like to pick up cute clothing & souvenir shirts anyways.
      Counting outfits for the flights there & back as everyday, doesn't add much at all.

Just came back in May from 4 weeks in the UK and was able to only take two 21" spinners (one in the cabin, one checked) plus my personal item and felt so proud! And still had items I didn't wear or need. But your 3 Day Method just leveled me up :) Thanks for some awesome tools that will help wean me from mega over-packing! (And I fold and roll ;)

    I already packed similarly with regular packing cube, but will be purchasing a set of your compression cubes! The only thing that is a MUST for me is to pack dirty shoes in bags (usually just reuse plastic shopping bags), and pack slippers if I don’t already have a pair of flipflops. I never wear shoes in my house (first gen Asian American here), so kinda grossed out by throwing uncovered shoes into my suitcase. Also, I pack a laundry bag (did I miss that in the video?). Love the tips and checking out your other videos! Thanks!

    Hello Fin, I have some Tripped products and other brands as well of packing cubes, about to order a full set from Tripped because they are stronger and weigh less. However there is one thing that would be really helpful, as a product and as a video. Please make those small, long tubes that can be purchased separately OR a set that is made to fit in carryon suitcases on the side of the suitcase with the retractable handles, to fit in those valleys of space. Just setting packing cubes on top wastes space and the Tripped cube/sleeve that I have fits very well, but there's only one, have to buy a complete set.
    I'm buying a graphic set, but I would have preferred to get a set that is simply all different (solid? print?) colors, just so I can locate what I packed in each cube, rather than all of them matching. The graphic set will do this.
    Thanks for the videos, and the products!

    I purchased one of the tripped compression sets and a cheaper set of a different brand. Though I really loved the quality and color (National parks) of the tripped cubes, I did not like that they did not zip fully open , with the “top” that can flap back and all items are easily accessible. The cheaper version did this, so I kept that one and returned tripped. I would have happily kept the tripped set except for that one feature. Please consider adding this feature and I will be a forever loyal customer!

    I like your method . Works very well.
    But something I want to share with you. I traveled a lot overseas with my parents for my dad’s work. Something I miss is the ease of travel of years ago. Did you know that travelers had sky porters that helped with luggage and would take them to the ticket counter for you. Then when the bags arrived, again there was assistance to place bags into a taxi. At that time bags did not roll. Also people would take more than one suitcase. So for me traveling has become so much harder and rougher. Those were the luxury days of travel.

    Great video, thank you!

      I agree about the bras. I don't think I've ever seen a packing video with underwire larger bras (I'm a similar size). I usually stack mine and put them on one side of the case between the inside handle rails, but they take up a lot of room. I haven't tried them in a compression cube yet. Worried about the wires getting bent out of shape.

    I am an excellent packer. I went to Europe for the first time over a decade ago and it was a two week trip. No one could believe that I used a carry on & personal bag. I roll & fold depending on the item & always use compression cubes. I've watched so many travel & packing videos and have to say, I am so intrigued by your method of deciding days instead of standing in front of the closet or trying to pick items that will go with other pieces. I will be trying this for our next trip. We normally travel for 10/11 days including travel day. Wondering if my brain can work out the type days you came up with?

Like you, I use both the rolling and folding method depending on the items. I tend to pack my cubes by item type- shirts, shorts/trousers, loungewear, undergarments, etc. I do sometimes lay jeans or other bulky items flat on the bottom of our carryons. I purchased your compression cubes and the same toiletry bag you have on display in this video. I would love to see a demo of how to pack your toiletry bags because I'm STILL trying to figure out how best to use the set! I don't understand why there are THREE zippers for one compartment. Please explain why you designed it that way. I'm also trying to figure out how to prevent my toiletries from weighing a full 2 lbs! I keep trying to figure out how to reduce the load but I'm failing miserably! I'm preparing for a 5 week trip next month to The Netherlands and the UK and I would love to see a demo please!

    • @TrippedTravelGear
      @TrippedTravelGear  Месяц назад +1

      Awesome! Absolutely! You might be referring to the main compartment with a zipper both on the front and the back? That compartment is convenient because when the hanging toiletry bag is fully folded up and zipped closed, you can quickly access something in that compartment using the back zipper without unrolling the entire bag. Hopefully that helps, but I’ll be sure to include it in the toiletry video!

    • @amritawhitman8112
      @amritawhitman8112 Месяц назад

      @@TrippedTravelGear Thank you very much for responding! That's awesome and I'm looking forward to your video! That is the compartment I referred to, but I mistakenly described 3 zippers. The zipper below the one for the large compartment is for two small compartments. Still, I would love a tutorial that includes suggestions for what to put in each compartment. For instance, to your point, I can't imagine what I would put in the large compartment that I would need to access without unrolling the entire bag, but I'm sure you had something in mind when you designed the bag. As a solo female traveler, I like to travel as light as possible so I can easily use public transportation and get up and down stairs. I lived out of a backpack traveling around Europe for 2 1/2 months in 1971 when I was 20, so been there done that! 🤣My challenge for my next 5-week trip is how to keep the weight of my 7 lb TravelPro Crew Classic Carry-On Spinner and my 15" Lovevook personal item backpack as low as possible! BTW I found your small compression cube is perfect for packing a change of clothes and it easily fits at the bottom of my personal item backpack with room left over for everything else I need on the long haul flight!
