- Today’s video will be slightly different to normal; I’m going to show you around the only NON minimal area in my home … My Daughter Jasmine’s bedroom.
I’m a minimalist... but Jasmine isn’t. I try to not force my views on her and I allow her the freedom to make her own informed decisions and to live in a way in which brings HER happiness… and currently, that means owning quite a lot of possessions!
She has been amazing though with allowing me the freedom in the rest of the home so I think it’s important I do the same with her room.
This video will hopefully show you how we compromise whilst living together and how we have found ways to make it work. I’ll likely go into more detail on this in later videos but today, let’s just do a room tour 😊

Even though you are not a minimalist like your Mum. Your room has space to breathe. What I mean by this is ; every drawer , shelf etc has some space. This is why your friends like your room. Many thanks for sharing x
That is a great way to put it. To breathe 🙂 And you're right. They love her room, they always find things to play with, plus they have space in other rooms to run about, play ball games etc and can always play outside 🙂

Don't worry about the bed! You don't need to change the bed or mattress. I've got the same situation, and I'm 33 now :D once the duvet is on, you cant see it, and it's very comfy. Never needed to change it all this time x
She's had that bed for a while now and she's managed OK other than sitting on the end of the bed and falling into the gap 😆 The mattress is years old now (my old one when I switched to floor sleeping) and can really do with an upgrade but I'm ticking it over with the mattress topper for a few months until I can afford an upgrade for her. Hopefully I can source a mattress that fits her bed this time🤞🏻😁

Your daughter seems to be so creative! It’s great that you let her make her own decisions in her space. The thing about minimalism is that you should only surround yourself with things that are meaningful to YOU and it doesn’t have to make sense for other people. I think the plastic bottles are something that makes sense to her in this part of her life, maybe something her friends do or some sense of belonging to a group? Anyway, I think it’s great that you let her decide if/when she decides to throw them away instead of deciding for her. You seem to have a great relationship.
I think the Prime bottles is a fashion thing, like the Stanley cups for mum's or the Gucci belt that was trendy a while back.
Thank you. She is very creative for sure 🩷 I think if I told her what she can/can't have she would resent me and minimalism so I try and lead by example and hope some of it sinks in. I think it's working as she will tell me when her room is feeling cluttered and ask for help sorting it and she stops herself from buying some things as she recognises she'll only love it for a short time. I think having her own bank card helps with that too as she's much more careful with her money also and doesn't impulse buy so much

This is a great tour! I also have a 10 year old daughter and she has many similar belongings. (She loves Frenchies too 😉❤️)

I love love love Jasmine's room. She may not be a minimalist like her mom but she is very organized. I really like all of the labeling and Stitch items. Stitch is my son's favorite Disney character. Thank you Jasmine for allowing your mom to show us your room🩵🩵🩵

He'll love it once he's older having his own space. But right now he wants his Mama and that's lovely 🩷

What a beautiful room! You should have seen how full my daughter’s room was when she was young. 🙄 She’s still a messy maximalist, but in her own place now. 👍🏻
🤣 It's not so bad when it's in their own home! I don't mind too much with Jasmine's as when it gets messy (which it definitely does!) I shut the door so I don't have to look at it 😆

Totally adore those Prime bottles. My son has a collection of them too, not sure what’s special about them at all 😂

@beij7639 Thank you 😊 No, I'm actually out of work for health reasons right now but I'm working on going back to work 🤞🏻I have previously been a kids rep for tui (Thomson holidays) a nursery assistant, I worked on Stenaline ferries and then in their call centre and my last job was a train conductor for arriva trains Wales (now transport for wales) I've tried my hand at a few jobs 😊

Just heard a reference to Bridgend. You can't be far from us. Are the little pink plastic boxes with lids from the range or dunelm or similar? Could do with a few myself.
I think I got them from home bargains. I had a TON of them at one point! Yes we live in Bridgend 🩷 I have a few subscribers from Wales now 🙂
