@extrememinimalism She told me last week we should definitely get rid of one of the sofas as we can just share one 😊 and if her friends come round they'll probably be in her room anyway and if they go in the living room to watch tv they can just sit on the box or the floor if there's a few of them. Her reasoning and problem solving is evolving, as is her "I don't care if my friends think it's weird" attitude, that she won't conform if she doesn't want to. I'm super proud of her 🥰🩷

I can definitely declutter when I'm emotional. You inspired me to go thoughtfully around my (already pretty minimalist) house and look for things I no longer need. One thing that has worked for me over the years is having an "I think we can do without this" cupboard or drawer. That gives me time to cool down and see if we really can live without an item. If a sufficient amount of time has passed and we've never needed or missed the item, it goes to charity or the bin.
That's a great idea! I do this sometimes too. If it's things I know I definitely don't need I like to get rid of them straight away but I do sometimes put things in the kitchen cupboard for a set amount of time if I'm unsure, to test if I really need it or not 🙂

I love my cushion as it reminds me of all that 🩷 I have very few possessions so it's nice to have ones that make me feel happy 😊
Pride in yourself is not boastful. "I'm proud of myself" isn't boastful. I am or I have the best xyz is boastful. But something I did went well for me, isn't boastful. We need to normalise being proud of what we do. Especially when it's stuff some people are better and worse at. We're all working at our own level. Verbalising our feelings of achievement is good for our wellbeing.
I love this 🩷 and that's exactly what I'm working towards! I'm not a naturally confident person and I'm very reserved normally and don't like "putting myself out there" but I'm trying hard to do things outside my comfort zone and show Jasmine that pushing boundaries can sometimes boost self confidence and create opportunities we might otherwise miss 🩷 I'd hate for Jasmine to have low self confidence so I'm *trying* to show her that feeling proud of yourself is a good thing 🙂
@@minimalismandmore someone very self aware I know also said never to start a statement with "sorry". If you're genuinely apologetic for something you need to make a bigger effort to apologise and if you aren't sorry, or you're just being unconfident in excusing a question or excusing need to get through, then you shouldn't be sorry as you've done nothing wrong. "please can I pass" or "could I just confirm" instead of "sorry" to move past or "sorry I have a question". It's subconsciously excusing ourselves for existing. If I'm proud of something, I say it. I don't pretend I've never done anything good in case someone else who hasn't done anything good gets put out. I also want to motivate them to say when they've done well. It doesn't have to even be well for "other people" just well for them. Eg washing your dishes before you go to bed is a big achievement for some and standard practice for others. Or decluttering something would be normal practice for you but very difficult for someone else. You don't have to do something impressive to be proud. And it sort of helps if you don't because it makes you grateful and positive for the small things we do dozens of every day. If I'm apologising, I aim to say it clearly. If I'm not, I try not to excuse myself for breathing.
@@minimalismandmore I think you have lots to be confident about. You're clearly intelligent and have really strong self discipline to not accumulate tat and build a reliance on it. I wish I was more like you in that way. The way you can separate your emotions from "stuff" is impressive and inspiring actually. I don't think I'll ever be a minimalist. But I'd like to be able to separate myself from things I know I don't want but feel obliged to keep (because I've had them a long time, or because I wanted them at one point). To leave myself with things I need, things I want, and things I just like. The idea of living with a very minimal setup would stress me out. But the mindset you have to get rid of the things you don't want to keep for no reason, is perfectly able to be read across for my life. I'd just end up with way more at the end. Sometimes our impact on other people is more than the impact on ourselves. Which is a shame as when we verbalise things, we can teach and inspire ourselves rather than just other people. You probably have a lot to say, that you want to hear. And would benefit from hearing. Food for thought.
That’s an astronomical increase! Is is actually legal, to increase the rent by 48%? I know I live in a different country in the uk but by law (I’m an estate agent) landlords can only increase up to 5% annually. If you haven’t already checked your legal position, I encourage you to do so. As I say, I work in a different jurisdiction so I don’t know the Welsh property laws.
I checked with my letting agent and apparently it's allowed in Wales. As long as he gives me 2 months notice. I was on a very cheap rent which I was lucky to have so knew I'd get an increase at some point but thought it would be staggered!
Any old technology take to currys if you can get to one, they should hopefully take it and send it off to be recycled. Sucks your rent got increased, hope you manage to find somewhere to move to soon ❤🙏
Ooh really, even if you aren't buying something from them to replace it? I am donating everything tomorrow and there is a curry's near me I can try 😁 thank you 🩷
@@minimalismandmore I had an old laptop that was weighing me down and one of my colleagues suggested currys. When I took it in they told me it would get sent off and wiped, can't remember what happens after that, either binned or spare parts possibly.
Sorry to hear about your rent. Not good. Im Suprise you got anything out 🤣🤣 as i keep saying to myself if it wasnt for my man three pets and a nearly twenty year old at home. I would have even less 🤣🤣🤣🤣 . Take care 💞
Thank you 🩷 I think if it wasn't for Jasmine I'd let go of a lot more as I'd lead a completely different lifestyle but whilst she's home I want to make it as happy and as comfortable for her as possible whilst still adhering to my minimalistic beliefs. We have to compromise for the ones we love and live with 😆🩷
I looked into that option also but it doesn't look an option unfortunately as I'm technically not homeless so unless I start defaulting on my rent and can prove it's no fault of my own or my landlord kicks me out (which the council would probably say to stay put until court ordered to leave) they wouldn't re house me. I have friends in this area that have been in temporary accommodation including b and bs and hotels for 18months before they found somewhere for them. And that was with 3 young children 😢 The housing situation at the moment is dire
@@minimalismandmore Oof. It's a much different situation than in Scotland- I just joined a list and continued to rent privately while my position slowly climbed up the list. I was offered a 3rd floor flat in a very undesirable area... went to have a look, and it was stunning with lovely neighbours and a view of hills! If there are any social landlords (different to a council house) in your part of Wales, I would say to join their lists and you never know, maybe after a year or so in your next place, you might climb a list. Housing is ridiculous at the moment- landlords are raising rents not because they need to, but just because it's a trend and they can! Who on earth raises rent by £100 a month. £10, ok... but 100.. I'm sorry for you x
I'm so happy that you got somewhere nice as I know here in Wales anyway, if you refuse a property you go to the bottom of the list! I was paying a very cheap rent in all fairness but it's the fact that it jumped up over £200 in 1 go! With just 2 months notice. I have holidays booked this year, Jasmine's birthday in Aug and then Christmas etc I had budgeted for at my current rent. I would say it's a fair rent if the property had the work it needs doing completed. It needs new carpets and new windows etc so if he did those I'd be happy to pay the increase but it's looking unlikely that he will 🫤 I will keep pestering 🤭
@minimalismandmore maybe there is some room to negotiate! Im wishing u the best of luck. Im sure things are going to work out. And yes its the same in Scotland, if they show you and you say no, you get to live in a cardboard box 😂
@@denisecarter5117 I negotiated £40 off since the last video which is a small help but it still means £200 more than what I was originally paying! I'm hoping he will do the work so that I can stay as that is an average rent for the area now so will be paying similar wherever I go!
You get benefits, so money from the government if you can't work for any reason, or if you are job searching until you get one. You wouldn't necessarily get it just for being a single mum, if you are able to work, they would expect you to do so. I have been signed off for health reasons but for personal reasons I'd rather not go into that on the channel. Hope that helps explain it a little bit 🙂
If you can't afford rent, stitch the small holes in the tote and don't spend $20. A towel on top of the burners seems really unsafe - in case one gets left on, it will ignite. You could have sent the card next year?
I rarely spend any money on myself anymore so that £20 is a very rare treat and I will use it and enjoy it everyday. I won't default on my rent, the point was it does make life more difficult as 48% is a massive hike all in 1 go and was unexpected. Plus, with the work that needs doing here I don't think the new price is justified. I agree with the towel, thank you for bringing that to my attention, I will move it. As for the card I would probably have forgotten all about it by next year and we don't normally exchange cards anyway, it was only that I saw it and thought he'd like it that I bought it
I wish happiness and joy for you overflowing to the point that you no longer feel the need to be critical of others, especially those who are doing their best and working to provide helpful and inspiring videos.

I also emotionally de clutter. Mostly when I am stressed about something. A 48% rent increase would definitely stress me into an intwnze de cluttering
I didn't realise how many people also do this! 🩷
If they take it that would be amazing! I'll try tomorrow 😁 Thank you so much 🩷
Sorry to hear about your rent.
We have to compromise for the ones we love and live with 😆🩷
My man's parents don't understand me at all when I go on my mad decluttering sessions . 😂😂😂 Take care 😘 my lovely xx ❣️
And you also 🥰🩷
I wonder if you could apply for social housing. I applied and surprisingly, they rented me a lovely flat. It's cheaper than normal rent.
😢😢😢@@minimalismandmore
@minimalismandmore maybe there is some room to negotiate! Im wishing u the best of luck. Im sure things are going to work out. And yes its the same in Scotland, if they show you and you say no, you get to live in a cardboard box 😂
I love rats. They are part of our wildlife.
@marialester-rs7qk I'm a bit scared of them to be honest! 🤦🏻♀️
Can you go to your landlord and ask for a decrease in rent and show how beautifully you keep the place and pay your rent on time?
@@denisecarter5117 I negotiated £40 off since the last video which is a small help but it still means £200 more than what I was originally paying! I'm hoping he will do the work so that I can stay as that is an average rent for the area now so will be paying similar wherever I go!
@@minimalismandmore 👍
Without hate, I am just curious as a foreigner. How are you able to live without job? Do you get money from your country because you are a single mom?
You get benefits, so money from the government if you can't work for any reason, or if you are job searching until you get one. You wouldn't necessarily get it just for being a single mum, if you are able to work, they would expect you to do so. I have been signed off for health reasons but for personal reasons I'd rather not go into that on the channel. Hope that helps explain it a little bit 🙂
@@minimalismandmore thank you so much for explaining. It is great that you can get help in those situations 🙂
Please return the bag. Please.
Return it? Why?
You need to put bleach in a glass bottle. It's melting the plastic lol
🤣🤦🏻♀️ is that what it is?! Haha oops. I thought it would be OK as toilet bleach comes in a plastic bottle 🤔
