I've used baitcasters for a while but not BFS. This Zephyr is definitely one of the cheaper reels that you can't really turn the brakes down on. I tried to be gentle, I tried going max brakes, less spool tension, and the opposite, nothing worked. Had to really crank the brakes and spool to get it to cast without an absolute birds nest. Just going to use it with 1/4 oz spinners trout fishing, and I'm gonna try some of the other better options for lighter stuff.
Mine too!!!! I have to run brakes on 10 and I have come to hate this reel!!! Anything someone can suggest but I have tried everything I have seen on RUclips!
At 45 years old, I decided to take up fishing. I've been using your channel for research purposes, before I buy any gear. The endless options has been beyond overwhelming, but your videos have been a great help. I'll continue watching and gaining knowledge, getting prepared for gear buying in the spring. Thank you for all of your hard work.
The best advice I can give is to find out what you'll be fishing for and what the structure you'll be fishing for those fish in. That should help you narrow down what you need to fish. Keep it simple, work within your budget. Good luck and tight lines
Can you overfill this spool if you follow the guidelines for the amount of line: 10 lb braid-80 yards? This comes from Zephyr website. That is 240 ft to put on that small small spool.
My Zephyr just arrived yesterday, and the rod which I'll be pairing it with is the Maxsteel, that arrived today. Ohhh I can't wait to try them out here in Sydney. I've already got a Valiant eagle paired with a Blackhawk II and so far it's been excellent. You guys need to get Kastking Australia promoting these rods and reels more because they're great and can easily stand next to the top brands here.
I have one... rod and reel...and it wasn't up to the fame it received from bfs enthusiasts (probably most of them never used a real bfs reel before). Im waiting if kastking will make a bfs reel with their new braking system.
@@gewangster Oh, I see, you mean the AMB Auto-adjustment Magnetic Brake System. The Asian version is already available on AliExpress. The USA version will be available early spring.
Of course BFS rod, you can find KastKing Zephyr BFS fishing rod on AliExpress: www.aliexpress.com/item/4000785730169.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_groupList.8148356.1.17107141W8E3Jx, hope this help.
Enjoy your channel but you need to let go of "let's go". You're getting a bit too mature for that junk. You are very informative though and too intelligent for that lingo.

@@intensity.density2208 Good point!
If there is too many options for you, then I suggest you Crixus Armor X baitcaster and Sharky III spinning reel.😁

What type of rod is best for a BFS ?
Of course BFS rod, you can find KastKing Zephyr BFS fishing rod on AliExpress: www.aliexpress.com/item/4000785730169.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_groupList.8148356.1.17107141W8E3Jx, hope this help.
That particular rod looks a lot like a BPS rod I was looking at. It has the same pistol grip handle.
