    Reminds me of the fly fishing videos showing the masters of casting a Tenkara rod versus a standard fly rod. One interesting result is that you can make 3 to 4 times more casts per hour, working the water more thoroughly. Different gear but same approach, work the water as efficiently as possible with fine-tuned gear using the least amount of energy.

      It is probably a fiber glass rod, or at least the end section of it is fiberglass. There are several fiberglass rods options at Aliexpress, but to be honest I don't have any references on wich rod would be a good purchase, maybe you could talk to a rod builder on your region and ask them to make a rod like that for you.

    What’s the recommended lure weight range for BFS setup? Some BFS rod i found has different lure weight rating (for example one had 0.5-9g, others has 1-5g) so idk which one has better… “whippiness”, for the lack of better words.
    Edit: i mainly throw 2-7g hard lures, spoons and soft plastics

    • @brasshnkey

      Those small Ambassadeurs make great BFS reels, they're just expensive to build out. At the minimum you are looking at $300 in parts plus the cost of the reel itself. A fully modded 2500C; spool, offset frame, lighter brake plate, mag brake, line guide, level wind, cog wheel, faster gears, etc can set one back $1000 easy. While the reel hasn't been made since '08, each and every part, save for the side plates, are available in the aftermarket from companies like Avail and Valleyhill. I own 5 of them and they see much more action than my other BFS reels. A couple are set up for fishing small creeks and the others for larger rivers and lakes. They strike a nice balance of looks and performance plus they're so simple internally that they can be serviced in the field if need be. They can be completely serviced with something like a Leatherman or one of those pack-in wrench/screwdriver tools that reels came with in years past. I also own a pair of Calcutta Conquests ('17 and '23 models), a Millionaire CT SV, and a BFS tuned Millionaire Ringa SSS which are great reels in their own right.

    I eat this BFS content up. Please keep producing it! Can you provide some direction on what size and brand split rings and snaps you use for something like a GH Humpback 46? Also which split ring pliers works best for the tiny BFS stuff?

    • @RockyPondProductions
      @RockyPondProductions Год назад

      Gamakatsu P004 Micro Split Ring Pliers are good for most smaller split rings. If you want to go very small then you can get the Mukai Split Ring Opener. You aren't going to need to change the split rings on those baits. The ones they come with are fine. If you want to switch out to single inline hooks there is no need to buy the big money "Japanese" hooks. The Valortac inline hooks are fantastic. Size 6 or 8 is best. When sizing inline hooks you should roughly match the distance between the tips of 2 legs on treble hook with the distance between the shank and the hook point on a single hook.

      @@jeffreyrodgers5835 if you want to find a cheaper 2500C, look at garage sales, estate sales, and antique shops.
