@@GoatSimGang I get that people have mixed feelings about cats and dogs being spayed and neutered. But in reality it actually prevents the world from becoming over populated with domesticated animals without homes who will eventually end up either being on the streets or put in shelters. If we hadn’t done that she would’ve definitely kept having more and more kittens do to all the stray cats in the area. That’s not fair to her or her potential babies because the sad reality is a large majority of kittens don’t end up finding homes even when brought to facilities where they can be adopted.
One day i woke up in the morning to a constant meowing outdoor. I went out to check and saw a cat hiding in a bush on my frontyard. It's no older than 4 months it seems. She seemed lost and was looking for someone, she was cautious but curious when i tried to approach her. My gf suggests that we feed her, i refused at first because i don't want her to get attached to me, since i've never had any cat before. But in the end, i did end up feeding her, she's so happy that i did too.. Fast forward half a year later, and she ended up staying here and gave birth to 2 kittens. I guess im a cat owner now
I love how accepting the kittens are. A big ass random thing scooping and pushing you around? Just take it as it comes. They really just couldn’t care less
Almost. Some dogs require more attention than an average cat so you have to be an active person to own one cause they're basically toodlers who want attention while cats are teenagers who prefer personal space most of the time.
I think the mom may have some bob-tail genes making it like that, there super cool and also less annoying to cuddle with since you don't have a tail wacking you and anything you have
There's definitely a Manx Gene or a Japanese bobtail Gene in there. Though my bet is manx since the other two kittens have full tails, the runt had a stumpy tailed. My mom saved a Manx boy who had kittens to my brothers Turkish Algora, and some of the kittens had similar tails so I researched the Manx breed facts. My little ones are two of the kittens, one who looks like her aunt did and the other is looks like a cat in tux with his rumpy riser tail, my Cutie's.
@@quinn_catt Possible, however, how the fur lays on the stump points to it being natural. It reminds me of my FLuffy, who's tail is rumpy riser form. It doesn't look like an accidental cut off, it looks like it's been that way since birth. It's possible since Manx cats can be born as no tail, riser, rumpy riser, stubs or full tails. His siblings had three full tails, him was rumpy riser and his bro had a stumpy like their father. We gave away a few, but all are in good health. So it's possible to have a majority of tailed, and a few with the actual Manx Gene. Those kittens didn't look too old and didn't go far and looked well protected by that shed. They also looked really good so it has to be Gene wise.
From a person who volunteers there time in way they cud to try in help cats, and as a cat lover... Ur videos r just so amazing to watch... From the bottom of my heart ( I mean it!!!) thank u!!! And thank u for everything that you do...
I love how in order to put your arm anywhere near a feral cat you wear a welding glove, which (correctly) implies that a 5 pound cat is as dangerous as molten steel
@The one and only exotic Butters that's the worst when that happens I have an armchair that my cat always slips on and every damned time I sit in it he'll fall and get caught on my arm it hurts like a son of a gun
It's crazy how different cats can be. One day a feral cat approached my grandpa and kept meowing at him while he was doing yardwork until he followed her behind the garage. What happened was she had given birth to a litter of 4 kitten in barrel, but it was raining and said barrel was slowly filling with water and the mama cat was smart enough to know she needed help with the kitties. They were all taken in and given this kind of treatment, but the mama cat absolutely loves my grandpa because I guess she knows what happened and was grateful her kitties are safe. She's super affectionate with everybody now, years after and hates being outside now.
I had a feral cat mom and two kittens. After the kittens left when they were 14 weeks old the mom relaxed A LOT. Like she hid all the time ja hissed at us and didnt want to be touched, but without kittens he turned out to be a snugglebug!
Yeah, I kinda think they should have waited a bit before releasing mom. 😢 She might have chilled after the babies were adopted. Plus she really seemed to love and enjoy them. Now she's back on the streets alone and she'll never know that love again. 😭
@@damocles5047 Not necessarily. I see Mom cats with their growing up kittens a lot. Feral colonies often have family cats that stay together. Fighting over food in feral colonies is a given when there is not enough food.
@@elvinad4422 well, I know it seems sad, but it's the same way when your kids grow up. Its sadder when they don't go out to make their way in the world.

“Even if it means she doesn’t want to be in doors or around people.” 7:00 oh I think she’s perfectly content being indoors. She’s just sketched out by you. She knows she’s safe and her kids are safe but she doesn’t know your intentions. This is best showcased by her allowing you to be close, while feeding them. She knew full well that the stress of feeding her children was being alleviated by some other creature, she just can’t begin to rationalize why.
You literally only know as much as he showed us? Not all cats are happy indoors and can suffer depression from it especially if that’s what they are accustomed to. He kept the kittens and gave the mother the best possible care. You obviously never been to NY and have seen the crazy cat system. Maybe donate before you add your 2 cents on how he rescues ESP when so many fosters don’t provide even half the resources he does to the cats. 😒
How can you just assume that you think you know what the cat wants, because your cat likes being indoors? Feral cats hate being restricted to indoors only, actually a lot of cats hate it. There are studies showing higher incidence of behavioural problems among indoor only cats. And you think you know how a cat feels based on a minute of footage of it playing with its children. You're such an expert that not only do you know it wants to be inside, but you're able to understand the exact feelings of the cat? Please, give me a break.
@@JavedAlam-ce4mu well you either have a outdoor cat that gets ran over, eaten by something bigger, and messes up the environment or an indoor cat that completes its lifespan and is safe with no worms. I’m picking the latter.
She could, it takes a long time for trust to be gained and there's a high need for tnr. Kittens are socialized easier and momma is fixed. Some ferals will always have that fear of other felines.
Exactly! It was ridiculous how they just leave! She could die in so many ways on the streets! Poisoned, hurt by a car, to get sick with various ilness... So sad to be treated like trash.
I don't get this tendency in "humans" to domesticate every single cat out there. Yes, life might be harder on their own but some cats do prefer freedom and natural way of life than being lock up by apes.
For the most part it’s good to leave feral cats outside. Feral cats get taken to shelters way too often but people tend to forget that they will be euthanized so you just gave them a death sentence because you thought you were helping.

I rescued a feral mama, abused by our neighbors severely (they would kick her and throw things at her). She was like this...no, much worse. It has taken 2 years for her to trust us and stop randomly attacking us. Now she only gets spooked by weird gestures or noises, and will swat. Animals can experience fear and trauma too, and you just have to be patient with them. Give them the space and time they need, show them you are safe.
I got a feral kitty. I took from a pet carrier my cousin held and I went for the least aggressive one which was a Siamese looking cat. It appeared they all had different dads. It was a couple, male and female, that came with his cabin he bought in the woods right off the reservation. This was a gift for my my families’ male cat had a brother that just passed away, the male cat is 17 years old now! So I got him a companion, but we had to surrender him & couldn’t afford a UTI issue he had. He was beautiful and my brother is always a cat’s best friend. He couldn’t afford him when he moved. He’s diabetic, and in America…It’s your insulin or your companion. 😪 this is a great channel. Much necessary info in life I think all people should know!
@ArmchairWarrior Feral cats are so smart! I guess they have to be. I keep giving my former street kitty puzzles and teaching her tricks; there's not much that stumps her.

Hi armyyy also calico cats are always female it’s rare to find a male calico cat. It’s because of where the gene for the orange is something like that.

Thanks for all you do, guys. For anyone worried.. basic cats like this feral cat do not have the same attachment as other felines do.. once the kitten is fully grown the feral cat can leave them and go off on her own.. and they can fend for them self.. so.. separating them wont hurt either of them
@@privatemel9963 tbh people just don't know much about cats and forget they're not easy as dogs. I didn't know about this with cats and was surprised to learn but I love cats and enjoy learning these things now.

It's because mama's a calico! Basically at a certain point when she was developing, her cells had to decide if they were going to use the X genes they got from mom or the X genes they got from dad. If I remember right, she can pass on either of those copies to her kittens, so the females are often more calicos and the males end up looking like their non-calico grandparents. Veritasium did a vid that explains it much better than I am. I think it's called "why women are stripey" if you're interested.
I never really realised how dangerous feral cats are, because I’ve always been around tamed cats. until my cat was having a nightmare, and my mum tried to wake her up and she was freaked out and bit her hand, her tooth went so deep it touched her bone and she had to get a shot. When cats are freaked out they can hurt you. Especially if they bite hard.
Makes your realize how when they bite you they don't intend on harming you, since they could easily any time they want to. It's just to give the message to stop what you are doing.
@@GigaBraumChad That's silly. I know someone who has been badly injured by their own dogs, because they tried to separate them when they were fighting over a spot to look from. The dogs always got along really well other than that, and were not aggressive normally. You just have to understand animals, which does require some effort on your part - there is no deceit going on, so talking about 'trust' doesn't make sense. No one acts the same in all contexts and conditions. People act in the same way, that if you have someone who is emotionally out of control, they can do something that they wouldn't normally do, either. Because people are animals, too. And most times, when a cat bites you under normal conditions, they don't break skin, etc. It's just a way to communicate to you to stop what you are doing. Only if you keep ignoring what they try to communicate, they will escalate it to get you to stop. If you ignore the body language of animals, their vocalizations, etc., and get scratched or bitten, it is your fault for not paying attention.
Pretty much. Imagine if a bunch of aliens took you from your home, sterilized you, and kept your kids after putting you back. feelsbad to be classified as a pet

I recommend watching surinoel also. It’s in korean but has English subs and they take VERY good care of their cats with editing that looks pretty high end tbh.
I've done TNR rescues -- we always look very carefully for every possible kitten. They usually stay close together until around five weeks old, so the chance of one wandering off more than a few feet is slim.
They would probably die. It would actually help if one or two died, but since we are humans and we came to an agreement over killing them or letting them live, we choose to spay/neuter them so they cannot make more. It is sad though, to think of that poor little kitten dying.
This made me think of my own cat She is a pregnant stray cat when she came to me I never forget the time when she take care and played with her children She is a wonderful mother, I can tell Until 5 years later when she fell ill with FIP and left me, my heart is broken Sadly, unvaccinated stray cats as young children are often vulnerable I regret this even after 8 years have passed
There are so many people on here who don't seem to know what anthropomorphism is. The mother cat really doesn't care about her kittens once they're gone. And they don't care for her once she's gone. Stop thinking cats and humans function the same way. They don't have a problem with it. You do.
This also means that cats can see TV remote signals. Although testing if cats can decide those signals is proving to be a difficult experiment with my cat.
Even though i know releasing the mom was the best thing to do.. aww, it broke my heart seeing her going like this, on her own, in this big world. Just by herself. And that music didn't help :'(
Leaving her kittens... I think they'd miss each other :'( The mom would be like, I guess this is goodbye to my kittens now and I'll never see them again... And the kittens were probably thinking, where did mom go?... :'(
They are not like us humans, who have lifetime bonds with our parents. When the kittens grow older, they just part ways to their own lives, as well as their mom.
I got so emotional when you said "She's actually happier outside. This is her home." I adopted a stray cat last year who was so sweet and well-behaved. As much as I wanna keep him indoors, I freed him because I realized he was actually happier outside. I'm just happy that after a day of playing and doing its thing outside, he comes home and wanted snuggles and cuddles and FOOD ahahaha! I love that cat, sadly he passed away a few days ago due to old age and complications. He was my first ever pet. I was always scared of animals but he came to me at the most random time to make me feel that animals are not all scary. They are capable of loving you and healing you and protecting you. Now I wanna cry 😭
Theres a chance it died because it was outside, indoor cats mostly love longer than outdoors, true that they are happier outside, that doesnt mean they can't be happy indoors, srry if this sounds hurtful but a very close person to me saved a cat snd made it indoors perfectly fine but put it for adoption cuz she had more pets and a mutual friend of ours adopted it, we thought "how lucky we are" it was far from the truth, the former friend of us Let ot roam free cuz he thought it was ok and the cay needed it, the cat got ranover by s truckbbut it doesnt died instantly, it hide in a place where t wasnt reachable and only its meowing was hard and it meowed with pain and died slowly, the person that saved tje cat was devastated when she knew and also got angry and stopped being friends with that irresponsable owner, i did the same because i dont understand that logic. Many people that rescue cats they dont do it so the cats end uo living in the streets Again, dying sooner than they have to. When you do that to an adopted cat you are saying " fuck u" to the person that saved and took care/domesticated the cat/kitten (if strays or ferals) and you are sending the effort and Money that person spended on the cat to the toilet(specially if it dies outside the first few days it got adopted) people that rescue this cats so they can be adopted, do it so the cat can be safe and happy, not necessarily so t can be 70% happy, 30% safer. I hope your next cat is indoor and truly safe, i don't tell you this for your own good but for the sake of your next cat, and so that the effort of the person that saved it doesnt go to waste.
@Amber Genteman yep that cat was most likely killed, next time givr it to a shelter or person but dont mle it outdoors unless you live in a farm, otherwise, people like to think their cats abandon them but the realityis they ar either dead or got captured by a cat rescuer that thought it was a stray, or got captured to be sold.
Treasure the memories. Most cats that have been outside for awhile prefer to go back out. It doesn't mean that he/she won't enjoy being inside with their human, it just means they like the outside adventure and exploring because of their natural curiosity.
@@gregGould cat lovers should realize this, a cat doesnt effingies if you make it indoors as long as you treat it well and people can walk them from time to time or travel with those Crystaline backpacks to take your cat with you inside there, some cat lovers are so effing dumb, they dont wann figure out how to keeo teir cats indoors when its easy or you can google it too, they want lame as excuses to let them roam free
Awe the little orange one has a bobbed tail! Feral mommas are no joke. I just snagged a feral little one an hour ago and now we’re working on momma and one more kitten. The feral colony in my neighborhood is OFF THE HOOK.
Just found a mother cat and her 4 kittens in my apartment's basement parking. They look barely days old. I was able to win the trust of the mother by feeding her a can of tuna. She is very sweet and not aggressive for being a stray. She was very kind and trusted me to bring her and her kittens up to my unit. They are now chilling in my living room in a makeshift cardboard bed. A tupperware of tuna next to her and a bowl of water on the other side. I'm not sure what to do with her, but I think I'm gonna keep them safe and sheltered until the kittens are alright. Any tips would be great. Thank you for this video it really helped
Hi! I work cat rescue! If mom is friendly that’s awesome-kittens will generally start eating wet food around 5 weeks but will still nurse until 8 weeks which is when kittens can be weaned! I’d recommend reaching out to local rescues to help cover vetting of the kittens and momma (at the very least getting them spayed/neutered). Another tip: pellet cat litter (specifically yesterday’s news) won’t produce dust, and is excellent for kittens because it’ll prevent upper respiratory infections, which kittens are prone to!
moonshine ket They’re just asking for advice to help a rescued litter of kittens, which he just did. Whether an instructional video or not, (it arguably could be), he has experience in the matter. And even if he didn’t, there are people who watch the video who will have information and are happy to share. They’re asking to help save animals, give them a break.
One time I was at a friends house, and we found a baby kitten in the road, we didn’t know how old it was, but is eyes were still shut. We tried finding the mom, but we couldn’t find her. Now, the baby cat is living at my friends house and having a really great time
That happens surprisingly often. I don't know why but kittens are sometimes found abandoned on the road for whatever reason and people often stop and pick them up. My sisters cat used to be one of them.
The mother was beautiful. I have a soft spot for calicoes and torties, I was asked to take on a calico kitten that wasn’t fully weened and I had her for 20 years. I’ve had other cats that cracked 20 but she was the only one who always saw me as mum. She would often sleep in the crook of my arm and would often paddle me and suck on my clothes. Some one in the U.K. did the same for our two brother kittens with their feral mother. It’s far better to have two kittens, it’s amazing the amount of energy they use up playing with each other. The play is also far more 'rough and tumble' than any human could do with them.
I do the opposite. I work with the local cat rescue to take their older unwanted cats who are in need of a retirement home. I won't foster their kittens nor adopt their younger cats but they do know that I will very willingly take the older cats and give them a home for as long as they need.
The editing makes it looks like it's just a while. In reality it was probably 8 weeks later. That's almost 3 months, mommy would already weaned the kittens away by then. She would probably slapped their faces and hisses when they tried to milk her.
What you did for mama and kitties was angelic. Who knows what their fate would have been had you left them outside alone. They all got the best care possible and love and attention as well, along w security for the present and future (by getting them spayed/neutered and vaccinated). I have no words to express the gratitude and happiness I felt watching this. All that come to mind is "thank you", such wonderful and thoughtful folks. We need more ppl like you, ppl that do the right thing JUST BECAUSE it's the right thing and for no other reason. Rare in this world.
"She prefers enough privacy as possible, so we put in a little hidden camera so we could monitor her remotely." All the consideration of a big tech privacy agreement in those two contradicting sentence clauses!
I find myself crying when Mama gets released. I know it's what is most comfortable for her, but it makes me so sad she was not able to be an indoor spoiled cat. I am so sorry Mama Kitty.
Its hard to keep feral cats as pets, but it can be done. We have a former feral tom (adult male, they can be really difficult to live with as they spray to mark their territories and live to fight for dates) as a couch potato now. We purchased a derelict property and he came with it, vet says he was in the 3-5 year age range when we neutered him. It was a lengthy process to get him to like us, then get him to the vet for neutering and shots, then teach him what a litter pan is. It did work in the end and he is now our sweet couch cushion monster. The main difference between him and our other cats is that he does not instantly like all humans, and that he got really fat on house cat rations (he is now on a diet, don't be mad at me). He is a happy guy (crazy happy and sweet actually) and it was completely worth it, but it is a lot of work at the start. Of our cats he is the least interested in going out on the deck, hes been there and done that and is not interested LOL.
@@mynamename5172 It can be done, but it requires a ton of time and 1-on-1 care and attention, which FBC just doesn't have. If there's a good samaritan out there willing to trap her and gain her trust, that'd be amazing, but I don't fault these guys for not being able to.
It can be done. We had one. She was violent as all hell but she calmed down and was the mama cat of the house. Idk its kinda disappointing how they took her kittens from her
@@notzqhra There is a good reason why. It becomes very difficult to socialize feral cats. Now, to my reason why you shouldn't train a feral cat, if you are selfish and have absolutly no reasons to adopt a feral cat. Cats are very sensitive and can get easily traumatized, to which they will change their behaviour according to that. This should make sense to you, because if you are traumatized, your behaviour changes. Because feral cats at a certain age aren't socialized with humans, they fight back for one reason: they are scared and afraid. Now imagine you are forced to live with something, you are scared of your life and you are sensitive. That's scary and horrific for you, also for feral cats. This is a nightmare for them. This is exactly why, they keep hissing, biting and scratching. Obviously, we find it sometimes funny, but they don't. It would take a long time to socialize them, but they still might bite, hiss and scratch. At the time the feral cat is socialized, you could have already adopt several cats from a shelter, who are not feral. The feral cat is also then traumatized. This is a total waste of time and a tortue for feral cats. Surely, you might not agree with me, but does your (feral) cat speak to you and speak about the experienced pain and trauma it has been through? Because cats can't talk and you would get a different impression, if you don't understand what I mean. Only socialize adult feral cats, if you have a very good reason. And if you have a very good reason: try not to stress the feral cat too much. Try to make as less contact as you can, while the feral cat tries to trust you and keeping a distance from you. Let the feral cat approach you itself. Don't force it to approach and trust you.
It's always a little sad to watch the mom and babies part, but you can tell with how she acted from the beginning, seemingly very protective, and the end where she was fine with others around that she knew it was time to leave them to grow up. I hope both the babies and the mother live great lives, good on you for spaying her too, so many people either dont have the money or aren't educated and you end up with kittens in some pretty dangerous environments. Domesticated animals are not the same as wild ones.
I have this same type of mum living with kittens in a higher level in my apartment I often go up there and feed them but the mum is very aggressive and hisses a lot I hope I can bond with the kittens they are so cute
Rescues like Flatbush are pros. They would have scouted the area thoroughly before leaving, and come back the next day to do a final once over of the area. Also, the kittens were young enough that they would not have had the strength to go far from their siblings, even if they had the mind to (which they wouldn't have had.) Rest assured, no "kitten was left behind!" 👍
P.S. I have been giving $10 a month to a local cat rescue (the cost of a large Starbucks coffee), which comes automatically from my bank account. I never even notice the bank transaction! lol. You might want to think about that. Every little bit helps for these kind-hearted souls who scour the cities for kittens in need, much like the ones you saw in this video. They have to pay to have these kids neutered and spayed somehow. Oftentimes, it comes out of their own pockets. Cheers.
This is just brilliant strategy and technics. I guess years of experience with saving these poor cats make you a rescue-rehab specialist of stray, street cats. Keep it going man More power, health and energy to you!
I remember our dog cried when we gave away his puppies. Mom didn't really take care of them, so we fed them, but he was Mr. Mom essentially. You know what? This is such a wholesome comment section. I was honestly expecting some people to tell y'all to leave the cats alone and stuff but nah. I'm happy about that... On another note, the mom is so pretty! I wish she was adoptable!
She was adoptable. She was becoming used to humans. Another months or two and she would have been sitting on the sofa waiting to be petted and purring as well. Patience and real concern for all the cats would have resulted in keeping the family together.
Shyper Ti made a comment that stirred up a lot of people it’s best that they were separated then and not whit the mom that would’ve left 3 smol kittens to die alone outside
robert shaw I agree with Kastruli if that’s the correct name it would’ve taken more than 2 months to make that cate domestic to be honest I don’t think cats like her can be domesticated given the age and the distrust towards humans it can take years to domesticate such a cat

"scoop out the little meatballs..." Love it! And that little orange kitty with the stubby tail... OMG!
Im about to comment that
Razor Ransom I’m actually thinking that there was an accident, since they’re feral, but it’s possible that they could have a manx gene or bobtail gene

Cats are amazing. Such diversity in appearance from one litter.

Feral cats, even kittens, can deliver a nasty bite. And that bite will almost always become infected with treatment with antibiotics.
Mah boah Arthur
Makes your realize how when they bite you they don't intend on harming you, since they could easily any time they want to. It's just to give the message to stop what you are doing.
And all these reasons is why I hate cats lol. You can never trust then
@@GigaBraumChad That's silly.

Cut the man some slack it's not supposed to be instructional video it's suppose to teach us more about cats
moonshine ket They’re just asking for advice to help a rescued litter of kittens, which he just did. Whether an instructional video or not, (it arguably could be), he has experience in the matter. And even if he didn’t, there are people who watch the video who will have information and are happy to share. They’re asking to help save animals, give them a break.
lots of soft blankets and a laser pointer helped me when my cat let me take her in.kitties like bubbles, too.
Hello. (Most of the times) a can of Tuna can be really salty for a cat. :(
Spatula-ing kittens is probably the cutest thing I've seen in the past week.

Did you have to feed it milk at that age?
@@KingofDiamonds117 when some people's cat has kittens, some people just throw them away.
This was a month ago, update? How is the lil cutie?
@@crableg2128 disgusting..

I couldn't foster kittens. I'd end up keeping them all.
Me too❤❤
I read that as 'I'd end up eating them all'
Well, I would eat them
that's what i did. neighbors showed me a feral kitten, and i adopted. she joined my family of 2 other cats
I do the opposite. I work with the local cat rescue to take their older unwanted cats who are in need of a retirement home. I won't foster their kittens nor adopt their younger cats but they do know that I will very willingly take the older cats and give them a home for as long as they need.
It's kinda sad looking at the mom just leaves like that
Yeah, it's a shame that they just go back to their old home without a second thought, but I guess that's just nature.
welp I guess they're not human in that way, they have their own unique cat behaviour
Oxytocin is a tricky thing
The editing makes it looks like it's just a while. In reality it was probably 8 weeks later. That's almost 3 months, mommy would already weaned the kittens away by then. She would probably slapped their faces and hisses when they tried to milk her.
@@MrWillypanda88 I think we all know that.

I want you to keep the mum too 😭 they deserve love too!

I always thought, what if you missed a kitten? its a scary thought, pretend crawling back outside to see your sisters and brothers and mom all gone
The kitten were newborn when they took them I think so hopefully no kitten was left behind
Omg I thought the same, I think they would check the area before leaving...I hope
Cheers.
I manage 3 feral colonies in my area. Expenses run around $2500 a month for food, vet care, and a temp home for the kittens that will be adopted out.
This is just brilliant strategy and technics. I guess years of experience with saving these poor cats make you a rescue-rehab specialist of stray, street cats. Keep it going man More power, health and energy to you!
My cat was crying when we took her kittens away from her. But they were old and big yet she loved them :(

Cats don't cry out of emotion. It was likely something irritating her eye.

On another note, the mom is so pretty! I wish she was adoptable!
She was adoptable. She was becoming used to humans. Another months or two and she would have been sitting on the sofa waiting to be petted and purring as well. Patience and real concern for all the cats would have resulted in keeping the family together.
