Not to get too cheesy, but you know how everybody has that one thing they wish they could erase from their memory so they could experience it fresh again? For me, that’s discovering Pentatonix, and your channel is the closest I’ve ever come. Your genuine joy and interest and analysis feels like it’s coming from my own brain 5 years ago, making me remember exactly why this band means so much to me. I didn’t think they’d ever hit that sweet spot again. You know what I mean? I hope this makes sense lmao. Anyway thank you for your videos, and I hope you start to feel better soon. If I wasn’t 19 and unemployed I’d subscribe to your Patreon instantly
I was thinking the same thing! It truly makes me feel like I am watching it for the first time again and I also love how he always appreciates all the members the same and always points out why he loves them. Such lovely and genuine reactions always! 😊❤️
I really get a kick out of people, no matter what genre of music they listen to, especially metal heads, rappers, and hard rockers, realize they love Pentatonix. It is because Pentatonix is so different and unique, and also are so damned talented and close knit:)
This was the first original PTX song I encountered (and it is still the most-viewed original song of theirs). This was released before their first album of (almost) all original songs, "Pentatonix" (which had 12 original songs and one cover), and it is (IMO) still their best original piece ever. (Two of their songs from "Pentatonix" come close, though, with totally different vibes, ""Cracked" and "Light in the Hallway". I also like Kirstin's contribution to that album, "Water", with Kevin's imaginative percussion changing the song from Kirstie's original envisioning of the song.) I saw another commenter mention "Light in the Hallway" and want to provide a little context for it. The song was written by Scott, Mitch, and songwriter Audra Mae. Scott's nephew had been born a few days prior to the composition of this song, and Scott wanted to write a lullaby for him. However, he "heard" the song in his head being sung by Avi, whose vocals were recognized by the other members of the group as very effectively conveying emotions. Even though the song was written for Scott's nephew, Avi had the lead vocal though this song, and it was used to close their concerts during their first world tour. (they used just a single mike for the song, with a solitary light (the titular light) to illuminate the five of them.
I still have to give Run to You the place of best PTX original personally. I do really like how on the "Pentatonix" album, if you know a bit about the band members' side projects and tastes you can tell a few of the songs were mainly written or influenced by certain members: Can't Sleep Love absolutely has a strong Superfruit influence; Water is clearly kirstin; and Standing By is perhaps the most similar to Avi's main style. Kevin has his hand in almost all of them of course, with how unbelievably talented he is. Another EDM style original track from a different album that was also heavily influenced by Mitch, similar to this one, is See Through; there's no music video for it but it's interesting to see the similarities to Love Again.
@@DarthRayj Yes, "Standing By" is the closing song for PTX Vol III. That is another song for which I wish they had done an official video, because it's such a wonderful song, and Avi's performance is spectacular. With the exception of PTXmas and PTX Vol IV, all of their releases with Avi had at least one original song. We haven't heard any originals since 2016; I am looking forward to their upcoming album of original music.
Although with this group, having a "favorite" song of theirs changes whenever they put out something new, I'd have to say this is my all-time favorite! It's so original. I love the beat, the look, Mitch's voice - and especially Avi! Great reaction!
Here is the interview you are referring to where you can see who is doing what. It is just like when Avi does effects in Daftpunk and everyone attributes them to Kevin instead. Hard to keep it straight with those 2. 🙂 Love Again + interview with living/writing arrangements ruclips.net/video/bC9TicW0iiY/видео.html
You're one of the only reactors to this that seems to have even heard Kevin's electronica part in the middle of the song. It's the first thing that jumped out at me when I first heard it, and even still I am dumbfounded as to how he makes those sounds with just his voice/mouth. Thanks for noticing that, and I definitely think Kevin is an absolutely insane talent that still doesn't get the recognition that is truly deserved. Thanks for what you do, and glad to see your back and good.
Concerns over PTX being able to do anything other than amazing on their original music is not necessary. They kill it. I'm not a patreon but would recommend Run to you, Can't Sleep Love, and Cracked. Glad you're feeling better, migraines are the worst
I was on a concert from avi and he is even better irl ! He was is germany colone and it was just so awesome he announced new songs and was just so happy, i think what he does now helps him find his way :) btw i u read this Kyle could you react to one of avi's songs ? Like to "ill get by" or one of the cooperations he had?
here's a fun fact: the break down after the first chorus, that bass-y beat that's almost like a frog-sound is actually Kevin, not Avi. you can see this when the sound continues after that part, but you see Avi singing a different part. also if you see it live.
Besides their Grammy for DAFT PUNK, they also won for DANCE of the SUGAR PLUM FAIRIES, where no words are spoken, from Tchikowsky's Nutcracker, plus JOLENE with Dolly Parton.
"Ref" is another great original by Pentatonix -- Kelly Clarkson actually tweeted about it when they released their self-titled album, saying it was her favorite song. On My Way Home is also another great one! You really can't go wrong with their originals, so glad you liked this one! Great to see your reaction vids again
I love how every time you say you have a concern about a Pentatonix song, before it ends you say your concerns are gone! They just do not disappoint, ever!

Yeah, some of us think Kevin is a renegade Borg unit who was assimilated by the Gods of Music and soul..., Lol. You need to get some merch, and have a tee shirt with the saying; "My concerns are gone". This was just three years in. You should check out, "Na Na Na", written by Mitch and, "Water", which was the first song Kirstie wrote and sat on for months and months before she brought to the group. It's really good..., everything they do is really beyond perfection, but their original stuff is fantastically great, out of this world!!! Or, as I have said before, they are Angels from Heavens top choir, even if they make a mistake, it's so perfect, it's not a mistake. Peace, Love and Light Kyle!!!
I totally love it when you say "My concerns are gone" LOL "run to you" is another awesome original song of theirs. I'm really glad to see you back and hope you are feeling better my friend :)
Ktle this was right after there run on the SingOff. They were answering what is the future of hip hop? Ben Folds asked them that off camera. From an interview of scot Hoying. That was PTXs answer. Would love to see them get back to some of that groundbreaking stuff. But all long lived pop musicians invent and reinvent themselves all the time. Cant wait to see into their future.
This songs brings back memories of a Vegas summer. I had a PTX song associated with major points in my life, so it's awesome to relive them while you react, and you experience hearing the song for the first time. Glad you're feeling better.
Please react to Can't Sleep Love. It's one of my favorite originals. I first heard it live at one of their concerts before their first original album came out, I and fell in love with it immediately.

I know these reactions are sort of an obsession for Pentaholics, but I would also suggest giving Voiceplay a look as well. They are also a great acapella group, with a ridiculous base and beatboxer. They do great stuff too.
So, that super-low bass line that starts around 3:34 _isn’t_ Avi. That’s Kevin doing some throat-singing. If you watch Avi during the rest of that section of the song, he’s singing a different line. And if you watch Kevin’s neck when it’s visible, you can see it moving when he changes pitch.

That bass you heard on the chorus wasn't Avi. It was Kevin. Avi is doing a different part. 😁 (His part is "Imma teach you how to love" and other main sounds and words.) (P.S. Im in quarantine and looking at different peoples reactions to PTX. Stay healthy!)

I have to say, as much as I love their covers, I love their original music even more. I feel it's highly underrated.
Love Again is my favorite PTX original followed by Show You How To Love.
One of my favourites and a video I go back to - such an infectious song
I love to watch your face when listening to a pentatonix song...the faces u make when you discover something new..love it!!!
You are actually hearing Kevin doing throat bass. You need to react to their live performance of this. To watch him do it, us so impressive.
You should listen to Light in the Hallway by PTX. It’s another one of their originals but much different and Avi gets to take the solo!
Not a cover... it's an original that Scott wrote, inspired by the birth of a nephew. It's a lullaby that he wrote with Avi's voice in mind.
@@bill.godwin-austen Yes, it is amazing. Whenever I can't sleep, I still listen to it and it works like magic.
One of my absolute absolute favorites!! I will 100% be singing that song as a lullaby to my future child(ren)
Bill Godwin-Austen Ahhh I thought I wrote original but I wrote cover instead! Haha my mistake.
So glad to see you on the Tube tonight. Was getting worried about your health. Glad you're feeling better.
Same here. I was afraid you were gone. Love your reactions.
kyle your reactions are exactly how most of us felt the first time we saw ptx your a joy to watch
I love this song so much. It was the costume change dance cam song this world tour.
Watch more originals. Anything from the 2015 album.

Glad you're back! Missed you! Love your Pentatonix reviews!
Yeah I had go find a video of them doing this live just to prove to myself how sick Kevin's beats and effects are.

"My only concern is..."

I just found it, never heard it before, its great! Have fun at the concert, I am soooo jealous!
Just so you know, those low notes, after the first time Mitch went really high, were by Kevin and not Avi. It's unbelievable, I know
