I just purchased the iPhone 13 pro max 1TB with a good price coming from 12PM 256GB. The iPhone 14 pro of course is better but I think the Dynamic island isn’t for me specially when you watch a lot of videos. I’m happy with my purchase with zero regrets. ❤️❤️
I did the exact thing you suggested after upgrading from my 11- bought a 13 Pro instead of the 14 Pro. Saved $200 off the original retail price plus got $400 trade in credit, so overall I’m very happy I saved a bunch especially when the 13 Pro does 90-95% of what the 14 Pro does.

I’m kinda tempted to go with the 13 pro max seeing as everyone is saying how much of a better experience they’ve had with it. The 14 pro is great. I love all the camera upgrades and the dynamic island and everything super cool. But I honestly prefer the notch. They should make a dynamic notch lol. I’ve actually seen it done before on a MacBook. But while you can find the 13 pro max cheaper outright…there’s actually better deals going with the 14’s since i can get 800-1000 dollars for my old phone with a trade in through my service provider.
If the size is most important feature for you, I’d consider the iPhone 14 Plus as well tbh, since it’s basically an iPhone 13 on steroids. Sure the cameras aren’t as great as a Pro Max but the 14 Plus is still great all around and a overall better value. I think it depends most heavily on what phone you currently have?

I've wanted the 13 pro max for the longest time now(I have an iPhone 11) but then I saw the dynamic island on the 14 pro max and as stupid as it sounds I kinda like it. however, apart from this, there are no redeeming qualities about the 14 pro lineup. ive heard the battery life is significantly worse on it, the night mode is abysmal compared to the 13s and the overall experience isn't as nice as the 13s was. I think I'll wait a year and see if I still want it

As an iPhone 13 Pro owner. I'm on IOS 16.0.3. I feel like Apple has slowed down the 120hz refresh rate with the newest IOS update. I can tell a difference. Not buying another iPhone until they get rid of the notch/dynamic island. I usually upgrade every year but this year I opted out for first time in 6 years. Gonna keep my 13 Pro Max till the notch is gone. Also even worse they took the SIM card slot away, such a terrible idea for businessmen that need to swap their phone or have a backup phone they can switch their service to. There is not any way to activate an e-sim without having a connection in the first place.. hiking/sports if your phone breaks you can’t just swap the SIM card which sucks and leaves you SOL.
I saw a video that Luke Miani did where Luke and some of his friends tried to safely crash their cars to set of the crash detection features on the iPhone 14. Sadly the iPhone did not activate when the car crashed. Hopefully Apple can resolve that problem before crash detection is actually needed.

Bought the 14 Pro, but returned it and went back to the 13 Mini. Honestly nothing can beat the size and form factor. 13 Mini feels so good in the hand and pocket

You forgot one key spec difference from the regular 13 to the 14: 4Gb to 6Gb of RAM. As you mentioned longevity, it'll surely have a great impact in the future. But, you can find 13 pros for less than the 14 costs, and they both have 6Gb.
Another argument to get the 13 Pro (Max) if you’re not in the US is the insane price hike on the 14 models. The 14 Pro 128GB model is almost €1500, an increase of almost €200 compared to the 13 Pro. A managed to get a brand new 1TB 13 Pro for €1100, so still several hundred euros cheaper than the 128 GB 14 Pro model. There was no doubt in my mind that it was the right choice. Having said that though I still think the dynamic island is a brilliant idea and I can’t deny that I’m a little jealous of it!
Yeah the 14s are overpriced in Germany. I got a mint+ 13 PM with 256GB for 950€ and I really dont care about that silly Island or 48MP which only works in Raw mode haha. 13 PM = ❤️

I moving from the 14 Pro Max back to the 13 Pro Max. I don't care for the dynamic island. I've never used it and I find it more noticeable and intrusive than the notch. I also despise that they have removed the SIM card tray and gone to eSIM. If you like to swap between devices (iPhone and Android) like I do this is incredibly inconvenient and annoying not to mention my carrier, T-Mobile, has suspended the ability to swap eSIMs via the website, you now have to call. I feel like they might start charging for the service in the near future. I also found the battery life on my 13 Pro Max better than the 14.

Fact i also find the dynamic island intrusive and esim is another issue,i switch between my s22 ultra and iphone all the time so esim is nothing but a headache.Last time it took me 45 minutes to transfert my number to esim after that i just returned the 14 pro max and kept the 13 pro max
Iv had the 13 pro max now for about 4 months and it’s the best iPhone iv ever had the battery is phenomenal It last forever the camera is brilliant aswell playing games on it is great it’s hands down the best phone iv had and it’s very tuff aswell

You also didn’t mention that the 14 pro series no longer have the SIM card tray, that’s the main reason I bought the 13 pro instead of the 14 pro because I like being able to pop the SIM card out easily instead of the Esim that’s on the new phone, plus people have been having problems with the Esim
I also just bought the iPhone 13 pro for the same reason that ongoing iphone will no longer have the physical sim capability. I like to be able to use SIM for international travel and switching between phones. I have no idea what Apple is thinking.

There's no way the 13 or 13 mini are the best value smartphones. The pixel 7 takes that for sure or the 6a too. As a fanboy you would say that. But come on be realistic. A 60hz display with a poor battery and mediocre cameras can't come close to being the best value. I love my 14 pro but the 13s and 14s are overpriced af.
It’s sick to see the kinds of prices US customers are treated with. My mobile company in EU sells the cheapest iPhone 13 Pro (128) for 1129 euros. For ~800 dollars it’s obviously a no brainer, but even regular 13 is 850 here.
That’s not even mentioning the fact that anywhere else other then the USA, the new iPhones are much more expensive than they should be, for instance in France the 13 pro launched at 1159€ and the 14 pro for 1329€
After the ios 16 update on my iphone 13pm i don’t feel great about the battery life anymore, its only 2 months old and the phone was manafactured around august and i bought around September, battery is still at 100% but it just drops fast on normal usage
I was initially tempted to upgrade to the 14P, but I can’t seem to like the dynamic island. Coupled with the cases I’ve read from people whose 14P/14PM would stop working for some odd reason, I feel comfortable with not upgrading for once :). I’ll hold and see if the 15 will bring anything exciting. Worst case scenario I’ll just replace the battery on the 13P before AC+ runs out.

I would definitely get the 13 over the regular 14, because the regular 14 is definitely a rip off of the 13 in my opinion.. I got the last mini iPhone ever, and I’m happy with it.
If you do a lot of video recordings like me and don't like to transfer them from your phone often (I can go months)... then I recommend 512. I don't want to feel like I MUST transfer every time I sit down at the computer. AND... I have peace of mind not wondering if my storage will get full while I am out recording. Since I spend the extra for 512 when I was Android and now with Apple... 0 issues. I now have the freedom to record on the highest quality setting and for as long as I want without worrying about storage. You can't pay enough for peace of mind and you only pay once. I also do lots of audio recording. If you mostly do photos than 256 is more than enough.

You forgot one key spec difference from the regular 13 to the 14: 4Gb to 6Gb of RAM. As you mentioned longevity, it'll surely have a great impact in the future. But, you can find 13 pros for less than the 14 costs, and they both have 6Gb.

Just upgraded from an iPhone 7 to a 13 pro and I’m loving it
Another argument to get the 13 Pro (Max) if you’re not in the US is the insane price hike on the 14 models. The 14 Pro 128GB model is almost €1500, an increase of almost €200 compared to the 13 Pro. A managed to get a brand new 1TB 13 Pro for €1100, so still several hundred euros cheaper than the 128 GB 14 Pro model. There was no doubt in my mind that it was the right choice.
Having said that though I still think the dynamic island is a brilliant idea and I can’t deny that I’m a little jealous of it!

Yeah the 14s are overpriced in Germany. I got a mint+ 13 PM with 256GB for 950€ and I really dont care about that silly Island or 48MP which only works in Raw mode haha. 13 PM = ❤️

I am with when you when it comes to the dynamic island, which esp is getting on my nerves when the headphones run out of battery… that’s why I sold my new 14 pro (not max). Now I am stuck with which one I should buy instead, unfortunately a 13 pro max with 256 hab comes at 1.400€ in Germany, so that no option these days… maybe a basic 13.

I moving from the 14 Pro Max back to the 13 Pro Max. I don't care for the dynamic island. I've never used it and I find it more noticeable and intrusive than the notch. I also despise that they have removed the SIM card tray and gone to eSIM. If you like to swap between devices (iPhone and Android) like I do this is incredibly inconvenient and annoying not to mention my carrier, T-Mobile, has suspended the ability to swap eSIMs via the website, you now have to call. I feel like they might start charging for the service in the near future.
I also found the battery life on my 13 Pro Max better than the 14.
I just ordered a 13 pro instead of one of the 14s. Hate the eSIM issue also. Upgrading from a 12 pro. Can't wait! Thanks for confirming my suspicion that the notch may be intrusive for me also and I too switch between Android/iOS.
Fact i also find the dynamic island intrusive and esim is another issue,i switch between my s22 ultra and iphone all the time so esim is nothing but a headache.Last time it took me 45 minutes to transfert my number to esim after that i just returned the 14 pro max and kept the 13 pro max
Iv had the 13 pro max now for about 4 months and it’s the best iPhone iv ever had the battery is phenomenal It last forever the camera is brilliant aswell playing games on it is great it’s hands down the best phone iv had and it’s very tuff aswell

Not forget : iPhone 13 are 1 year old (somewhere stored) devices with aged battery. Maybe stored good, but the battery still aging.
I wish apple kept sellin the 13 pro max but they stopped as soon as they launched the 14

While you can get a 13 for $100 less, the iphone 14 Apple trade-in value next year will be $150-200 more than the 13.
You also didn’t mention that the 14 pro series no longer have the SIM card tray, that’s the main reason I bought the 13 pro instead of the 14 pro because I like being able to pop the SIM card out easily instead of the Esim that’s on the new phone, plus people have been having problems with the Esim
100% this! I upgraded to the 13 PM because of this feature alone.
I also just bought the iPhone 13 pro for the same reason that ongoing iphone will no longer have the physical sim capability. I like to be able to use SIM for international travel and switching between phones. I have no idea what Apple is thinking.
It’s this simple, if you buy an iPhone 14 or 14 pro, you wasted your money and bought the same phone twice. Instead of buying those get a 13 pro max.

I have the iPhone SE 2nd Gen (2020) right now. My main priority is battery life 🪫 - and a tight budget - so I’m actually probably getting the iPhone 12 instead 😅 since Apple still sells it brand new
The iPhone 12 with 256GB storage is $779 while the iPhone 14 with only 128GB of storage is $829. (My current iPhone SE 2020 with 128GB of storage is worth $100 in trade-in credit)

I think it’s worth you jumping to the 13 pro just for the battery life alone I had the 12 pro max and upgraded to the 13 pro max and I’m still happy with it everything with the 13 pro is solid I think you will appreciate what the 13 brings to the table 😊

It’s sick to see the kinds of prices US customers are treated with. My mobile company in EU sells the cheapest iPhone 13 Pro (128) for 1129 euros. For ~800 dollars it’s obviously a no brainer, but even regular 13 is 850 here.

After the ios 16 update on my iphone 13pm i don’t feel great about the battery life anymore, its only 2 months old and the phone was manafactured around august and i bought around September, battery is still at 100% but it just drops fast on normal usage

I was initially tempted to upgrade to the 14P, but I can’t seem to like the dynamic island. Coupled with the cases I’ve read from people whose 14P/14PM would stop working for some odd reason, I feel comfortable with not upgrading for once :). I’ll hold and see if the 15 will bring anything exciting. Worst case scenario I’ll just replace the battery on the 13P before AC+ runs out.

If you do a lot of video recordings like me and don't like to transfer them from your phone often (I can go months)... then I recommend 512. I don't want to feel like I MUST transfer every time I sit down at the computer. AND... I have peace of mind not wondering if my storage will get full while I am out recording. Since I spend the extra for 512 when I was Android and now with Apple... 0 issues. I now have the freedom to record on the highest quality setting and for as long as I want without worrying about storage. You can't pay enough for peace of mind and you only pay once. I also do lots of audio recording. If you mostly do photos than 256 is more than enough.
