The Lenovo Thinkpad T460s is a premium business laptop that is solidly constructed and feels very much like the high end business laptops from IBM who used to own the brand.
What I found most interesting about it is that it has a matte display that includes a 10 point touchscreen. I haven't seen many matte touch surfaces before.
The battery life on it is not spectacular (6-7 hours) but the performance is good for what it is. It lacks an onboard GPU but for the target audience, business customers, it really doesn't need one.
It's well built, light weight, and has a great Thinkpad keyboard that reminds me of prior Thinkpad generations. These laptops are never the smallest, lightest, or thinnest, but they make up for it in durability and overall build quality.
Bottom line? It's a nice laptop that lives up to the Thinkpad name. But there are many more choices for high quality PCs now and I wish it had a GPU option along with better battery life.

You are one of the most in depth reviewers I have seen.
Good stuff as always Lon. I'm always looking forward to your reviews.
Awesome review Lon. keep up the good work.
Interestingly enough, where I work we use the Thinkpad series laptops from Lenovo & our hardware team is in the process of approving the T460 for use. Same specs & everything I think! Good to see how they'll perform :)
Good stuff. Nice review as always :)
great video. excellent presentation skills
it does look mature and professional
Great review as always Lon! The only thing I don't like about Lenovos is the amount of bloatware that they come with, but I didn't see any in what you showed of this laptop.
Thank you for the informative vídeo. That IIgs is gourgeous! What happened to the Timex Sinclair 1000? :)
Nice review.
I wish they could have had touchscreen functionality along with digitizer pen technology in the matte screen.
Hey Lon great video!
Though maybe you could focus more on the build quality
and the touchpad on your next videos.
i would like to see more details about the touch screen Lon
The little eraser nub always kills me, but I have always loved the ThinkPad line.
Is that a se ha gennesis in the background ?btw love your vids
Lenovo makes such nice laptops. They just need to come full circle and increase the battery life. This 1080p model should be getting way more than 6-7 hrs.
My father just bought a t460s with a intel xeon or was it a i7 or boht :D a GT 940MX. 2K display and everything cool. Imma get his old t430 after a month :)
Cool, mac IIcx/ci in the background...
Can you review the hp spectre when it is released ? Thanks in advance.
I'm just about to pop out to buy a secondhand T460s. I prefer buying secondhand T-series ThinkPads that are a couple of generations old - soooooooooooo much cheaper, and most of the time they're still under warranty. Going to install Kubuntu 18.04 on this bad boy.
Whoa I'm having Flashbacks a ThinkPad with the pencil eraser nub next to a Sega Genesis. Welcome to the future . . .
I have a Thinkpad T460s, which has an Intel (R) Core (TM) I5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.40 GHz, 20.0 GB RAM installed, no touch screen; 64-bit operating system, x64 processor, in its specifications it says in the condition of Pen and touch input refers to compatibility with handwritten and touch input with 40 touch points.
Could you help me decide if I can change the touch screen? Thank you for your response and recommendations.
lon have you done a review on a lanovo yoga tablet?
Can you review a P50/70 from Lenovo?
muito bom.
Are there any 2-in-1 convertibles with matte touch display which you know about?...I only see glossy ones
I am struggling between x1c gen 4 and this t460s, any suggestions? Thanks!!n
You seem like a very nice gentleman and I will have my children watch your channel. By the way the pointing device you referred to as the eraser is known as the clitoris.
Hello. I recently bought this model from someone. Before purchase , he showed me , and the touchscreen was working. Now I cannot get the touchscreen to work since I bought it. I can’t get in touch with him . My question is is there a way to turn on/off touchscreen option?
i bought this laptop but fingerprint is not working yet.and device manager dost not respond biometric driver option.
did you just say 'bright'? I've heard some complains that the brightness is not that good on this laptop...
What kind of the screen panel?
Sir, I want to buy a lenovo thinkpad t460s laptop or lenovo thinkcentre m700 mini dextop but I Don't know which is better for me.... For performance...plz let me no which is better for me.......thanks u very much.
Hi Lon, if you would compare the T460s with WQHD Panel to an Macbook Pro 13 with Retina Display. What would be a better portable laptop for stdents that do from time to time video editting. The T460 s is available with configuration of 12GB RAM, 256 GB SSD PCIe and the WQHD Panel for almost the same price like the Macbook Pro 13 with Retina display and 8 GB of RAM and just 128 SSD PCIe. I am usually a Windows user but could change tp Mac as well since I got an i-phone. But I really can not decide between these two laptops in the mentioned configs. So I am asking you for your opinion. What would you prefer or recommend me?
In terms of battery life. Does the T460s endure enough for a usual work day, consisting out of consistent web browsing, office work, streaming music and videos? Would be nice if you could compare it a bit to the macbook pro 13 retina
What's the cheapest chromebook for study ?
hey! excellent. Do you have a review of the T460?
why not a T460, T450, or T450s? Can not decide
Lenovo advertises 10-hour battery life with this LOL. Are the two batteries connected in parallel/treated as single battery or are they separate and 1 discharges, then the 2nd discharges. The 2 separate discharging is terrible for battery lifespan/wear.
Just grab the dell xps13 or xps15 better price performance deal and good Linux support so your not limited to Windows big brother 10
This laptop is nice and so, but why do we have this sub par keyboard layout? T420 had the best keyboard layout, T430 kept some good things, but starting T440, all went to the drain.
Can you open it with one hand?
Seriously?
now that the touchscreen looks good for the first time they discontinue it on the x260. this is so fucked up.
Matte touchscreen??? I didn't even know they made those. lol
+Lon Seidman Any matte screen tablets? Closest I have seen are android ereaders.
You r reviewing this for free?
cedricchinable no

1000101
thumbs down ... for non removable battery
I would have already bought a think pad if they didn't put **thinkpad** all over it. It looks hideous to me.
Yeah I think I would have gotten it if it were just on the lid as well. not that it would still look good.
Looks good what you on about???
@@thisisyaren Yeah given a couple days to think about it I think you're right
