We're on our way up to Burlington, VT, getting closer to the Kingdom Trails, but not yet hitting them (saving for later). After a full day of editing we were more than happy to get out and brave a wet and rocky ride at Perry Hill. Hailey has also joined up with us again, so the wolf pack is back to 3!
This ride was really cool, and I'm bummed that due to weather the lighting was so bad which resulted in mushy footage (sorry about that guys), but I still thought that it was some really unique riding and worth sharing. The NE riding continues to impress with it's unique rock and dense, wet forest. The slow and techy riding is getting more and more fun to me as I learn the nuances needed to navigate it successfully.
Keep an eye out during the video as Phil was on point with his coaching today and had some VERY good pointers for riding in wet/slippery weather that helped me much during the day.
Phil was doing, ya know, #philthings, and hit the most sketchy line of the trip thus far with a vertical slick rock roll that was slimy and wet with a very tough roll in.
Later in the evening we all pitched in (Hailey with the crash pad, Phil with the cooking, and I with the beers!) for a nice chill night as we reveled in the victory of today's ride.
LFRHGS my friends!

I can't stop watching this episode!
Is that the SKILLS with PHILLLLLL?
Don't look now, I'm staring at you from across the Starbucks...
Check my insta story!
I love the photo bomb at the end!
I love the videos that you and Alex make
Phil is the most creative rider I have seen so far. He always looks so loose and in control vs like alot of people who look like they are just hanging on and letting the terrain decide where they go.
I really like the way that Phil rides it's just chill and he does what he wants to do
He 100% does whatever TF he wants lol
"I don't want up there, I changed my mind".... LMAO! I'm not the only biker that says that!!! Yeeeeeeeeeez! another great video dude! thoroughly enjoyed it!
as always...RAD!!!..I could watch you , Seth,Brian and Phil 24/7..Just good fun people living the dream...STAY STOKED BRO!!
Thanks Mikieson! Livin' the dream one day at a time!
Felt like crap this morning - went for a ride - now watching this! Feel a LOT BETTER!
Works every time!
I hope you're enjoying your time up in New England! I love seeing you riding the trails that I love. My son and I are huge fans of going up to the Stowe area and Kingdom Trails.
Thanks Charles! I've definitely been enjoying everything the NE area has to offer. I'm looking forward to hitting the Kingdom Trails soon!
Hey guys, looks like we have officially crushed the Starbucks bandwidth, so the video isn't available in full res yet. Give it a few minutes and it should be good!
The Singletrack Sampler I'll be here, waiting. This better be good ;-)
IT Mechanical. Lol
The Singletrack Sampler why only 360p? gopro hero potato
" the video isn't available in full res yet." RUclips issue
DMUN82 I guess i should have read that first before stupid comment
phil is a sick rider! I love your collaboration! alexanders riding seems to improve every ride and the follow up videos of phils riding are just pure art!!!!
Thanks Schadi! He is amazing, and I really do feel that I am improving
Very impressed by Phil's bike handling; looks so easy, light touch and smooth in any situation
+YM Lnt ya dude he makes it look effortless
you're not doing bad yourself
It's nice to do a long, rooty climb like this. You always have to save some energy for a moment when the line gets nasty, so that you can double the power to gain some momentum for the difficult section. Sometimes the trail is misleading and after using up all of your energy savings, you notice a freakin wall in front of you! And that's when you push it even above the limit.
Having struggled in the Oregon rain since I picked up biking this year I'm glad to know I'm not the only who has trouble on rocks or roots in the rain
I rode there once! Such a cool and different place to ride. Those rock rolls are no joke. Can't imagine doing it in the wet!
STOKED for sure...crazy trails.
SO SKETCHY!
A cool trick I've learned to change gears on trails with fast oscillations between steep up and down parts is to come to a stop (or really slow speed) hit the front brakes so that you do a controlled endo then switch one gear at a time while pedaling with your back wheel up off the ground. Let the derailer switch gears then drop the wheel and continue up or down the hill. This is also really useful on tech. It takes some practice but if you can nail it you'll look like a pro while everyone else is fallin off bikes trying to go up a 40% incline after being in a low gear for downhill. You can thank me later. ;)
Phil does have some skills. Very cool to watch him ride. Thanks!!
phil rides the hard lines of the trail in the wet that i cant ride in the dry the force must be with him
Hey Alex I'm new to mountain biking here in Australia and just new to your channel. Love your enthusiasm for riding and life man . It's very infectious. Thank you for your videos and keep up the awesome work.
Bg
So cool to see you sampling my local trails! Glad you got to see Perry Hill. It is a truly magical place. And hard as hell haha.
Yea that place was rad for sure!
That was some gnarly terrain. Thanks Alex
I've been filming in 1080 just because of the upload time. I can't stand waiting! Lol. Great videos guys. Love seeing you guys riding together!
Also, you should definitely hit these trails again when it's dry. They're absolutely rad when they'e dry. Campfire is only an intermediate, but it's a perfect example of what Vermont flow trails could and should be.
Vid looks good man! As usual, my stoke is coming from the story format man. Nice to see the whole day, not just the fun bits. Mtb can be grueling and its cool to see you show that stuff too.
Thanks Cam, it ain't all sunshine and rainbows (dh and brapage), but we all know that as mtbers. Glad you enjoy getting the full scoop
Good on you Mate! Sticking around to watch more!!!
Enjoying this New England trip so much!
Me too dude!
Sweet trail..great riding very enjoyable vid... great job A !!!
Couple of things in case no one else mentioned them. If you have to sit at StarBucks all day, they have free or cheap refills on some beverages like ice coffees. As long as you don't leave the store. Also, have you tried putting a can of Fix-A-Flat in your leaking tire? Sometimes that will seal it totally up. Safe travels.
Phil is awesome and so is Hailey great bike skills guys.
Alex what up?? sweet vid always. like I said before, this series I had a$$!!! You are such a great inspiration just like Phil...I even bought a dj bike from my shop in boulder (radio bikes fiend dj!!) to learn better tech and manuals lol! but guys like you, Brian, Phil, and Seth really amped me up, in fact this weekend I'm racing the HUGE Telluride100 (100miles, 15000+ ele gain ughhhhh hahaha!!). its a supreme life challenge but I have a very smart goal - hit checkpoints and finish within limkts... so wish me luck!! man I hope you can end up out here in CO again would love to ride with ya! stay cool brotha!!
Phil is an absolute legend
I love it when it is a little damp. But when things are slippery it sucks.
Hey man, you shouldn't have to keep the browser open to process. Once it's uploaded, you should be able to close it after that. I usually do that. But awesome video! This place looks awesome! And it's really cool to see all those dudes that know you guys. Must feel awesome. I watched Phil's video, had some feels at the end, that's what it's all about. Keep it up!
Those colab vid are so sweet!!! Keep them coming!!
Stoked you are enjoying them - cuz we are too!
Wow, that's not a course for beginners or sissies, your friends are in serious shape and EXCELLENT riders--
Glad I subscribed
Those roots! Anything other than perpendicular and you're skiing!
no joke!
3:44 - I do believe Phil is an excellent instructor. Just by virtue of watching his Skills videos, I can see that. He seems to interact with people very well. I suspect he'd make an excellent MTB coach.
I00% agree
That trail was so sick! Keep up the stoke!
14:09''. Clearly not mentally recovered from the injury at the shoulder. Hehehe. It takes a long time man. Big fan of your road life. Keep the good vibes. Cheers from Brazil.
Very true man, I woulda never shyd away from that before..
Damn watching Phil ride that trail was inspiring.
Good reason to save all those moisture packets that come in packages. They do great (better than rice) at absorbing moisture from things that shouldn't be moist...lol
Wet and loose, makes gnar riding for sure.
@7:20 If you're tire pressure is low by
I actually use my bike pump all the time on my car!
Oh maaannn!!! Wish I could have somehow met up on this trip! Missed Highland by a week! Going to have to come back next year!!!
Great Vid, great ride, keep up the great work Alex! Thank you!
Will do Jody! 👊
Make sure you hit the Fiddle Head beer, it cant be beat, my favorite Vt. local take care
MTB,roots, slippin' n' slidin', IPA and sausage, like a perfect day if you ask me :)
I concur
Sick. So cool to see you riding my local stuff. Perry is legit.
Yea dude I really enjoyed that place!
Rastaman is fun, but I think the better loop is Burning Spear to Joes to Campfire. Next time. Enjoy Cady Hill. Much smoother and easier riding.
You're going have to clean up those crazy cables my dude. Love the video as always! keep killing it!
Such an awesome place to ride it looks like!
Haha I had to do the same thing for my guides when I fell. One of em did the same thing. It's not the lever that bends it's the part that contacts the bar. It twists and doesn't let the lever sit correctly.
I also have a grey hatchback named "Sheila". That's wild
Really Nice Video and Very Funny ....
Thank you so much ....
Greetings from Jalisco, Mexico
Way more rock than I thought there would be up there..... Wet, rooty and sketchy!
Hey Alex, awesome videos with Phil - but let's hear more about the Orange Five ! I'm from Halifax UK and really pleased to see Oranges getting out in the US. Seth has or had a P7 - which is also my current HT (I mean if you live here you have to have at least one !) and he had an Orange Four for review. Anyway, let's hear your appreciation for UK, or more specifically British products. You've got a Five with Renthal bars & stem AND your using Muc Off cleaning products all from the UK. What else you hiding !!?? Keep up the great work. Oh yes and did I see Brian from BKXC with a 'MuckyNutz' fork fender ? Yep, another British company. You guys need to promote our produce more !
traildaddi amd while we're doing the UK thing, haha call that a muddy bike? get over here and get properly dirty
Love this series! Thanks for the riding inspiration!
Thanks Matt! More to come for sure man. Which is your favorite episode so far?
I've gotta say the Highland park episode. It had a bit of everything: shredding, limit pushing, meeting locals, and most importantly getting STOKED! Ha ha.
Go to any tire shop and get the screw removed from your tire. Usually the cost of 2 Starbucks drinks. Chain stores are sometimes free
Bought 2 of your shirts. Am I really stoked enough now? Cheers mate and keep on tubing like this!
Huck yea man!! Not yet.. now you need to go wear them out on a ride!!
at 18:39 Phil sounded like his dolphin over lay for swear words 😂
yea sometimes it's actually hard to distinguish the giggle vs swear word lol
What swears?! The dolphin noise is natural
You two have hilarious chemistry
it's perfectly awkward lol
Wow, he's a trail ninja!
Phill is a complete skill pack
Dude,,,, Love the vids, me and my friend are just getting into MTBing, I just bought a 2017 Specialized Rockhopper Comp 29, I got it used with aftermarket rims and forks, i got it for a steel, super stoked, can't wait to try it out, I think that me and my friends first voyage will be Croom park In Brooksville, sense we live in Spring Hill, but I want to hit Alafia soon, hope to see you there in the future
That's sick dude congrats on getting into mtb - you are in for a good time
Phils Mad Skills!!
oh! and I love the content man! keep on stoking!!!!🤙🤙
Thanks homie!
Skill got some serious Philz !
Again... Perfect!
great footage. especially when you changed the exposure
Thanks Sean! Stoked Phil reminded me to do that..
I'm from the Pacific Northwest (Seattle) and can vouch for that description :)
Dude, that's my home town bro!? Why you no hit me up!!!
Yeewwww!!!! Another great video brotha🚵💨
Yewwwww thanks Nathan!
phil is running magic marys.that's why he trusts his tyres.those trails look similar to how our trails are in old england are most of the year and my mates and i all use magic Mary on the front at least
Yea we've talked about those and he loves them
Phil doing Phil stuff... crazy stuff going down.
He's just so good in all terrain!
The Singletrack Sampler yo Alex do you and Phil ride clip in pedals when you're doing sketchy rides like this? Or do you gain more confidence on flats? Cheers!
Brendan Burrows they both ride flats. You don't need to clip in on tough stuff.
I was doing some big drops with some friends today and one of my friends got a flat, the other broke his freehub. Had to push him for 15 kilometers.I hope that you never EVER experience a broken freehub. It's not nice.
Love your videos! You should have more subs than you do. 50k here we come!
Woooot! So stoked to hit the big Five-Oh soon!
Yall need to come ride blankets creek phil would especially love the hollar at our local park
Perry hill is my local spot! I love that place...super sketch at times for sure!
Dude no way! That place is RAD! Very sketchy when wet, I would love to go back and ride it when dry
Hinesburg town forest and Cady Hill are also great local spots in the Burlington/Stowe area if you're still in town. SO stoked to see you shredding trails I know well!
You guys keep riding all my local trails just a few hours off of when I do! I'll catch y'all eventually haha.
I'm guessing others said the same thing I'm about to say but add Stans on your rear left auto tires!!
I am STOKED!
Hey Alex. Yo I love the channel. I have been a sub since 127subs! I love all the sweet rides I get to come along with because of you man. I believe that this channel should have 100,000 subs by now. You are so cool and an inspiration for following your dreams.
What's up dude, WOW, you are a serious OG!!! I can't thank you enough man, and I'm constantly amazed at the growth of the community. Give it time, we'll get to the big 100K - I know it!
you should see the tracks at the back of my house, they are preeetttyy good!
Just thought I would drop back in for a second helping...still cool.
hahaha huck yea Thomas, ages like a fine scotch :P
Indeed...
J&B RARE...
Looks like Phil found a few hidden nuggets of goodness at the end before you all had dinner!
OMG not sure how I had not noticed that until now lol
He was definitely digging for buried treasure
Looks like he found it too, and wasn't shy about it!
These golden nuggets rival the other golden nuggets!
You mean the nuggets that Brian's so fond of?
hey Alex I have a question. what do you do when it's in the 90s with high humidity. I'm in my 50s and I can't last very long. love your videos.
Hey, have you considered the Kärcher OC3 or something similar? That combined with a can of additional water seems like something you'd have use for on eg. a roatrip.
Thanks for another awesome video!
Lol, maybe you should pour Stans on your rear left tire, both of ya!!!
Riding Perry Hill can be dicey on a dry day - much less in the wet. Kudos
It's no joke! Thanks man
Just an internet tip. There is an app called speedtest.net it will tell you approximately how fast your internet is. Being a (RUclipsr) you want a high upload. That will assist your video upload speed. Most (free) wifi places will usually have a slow upload. I'm guessing that's also why your live chats from Seth's house come through in such poor quality.
great video ! like this ! just add 120 ml of tubeless seal in your rear car tire .. problem solved.
Already missing the mud, it's so dry and dusty here in NorCal.
man that looks like work!
the opening line tho😂😂😂😂😂😂
On the subject of your brake levers, is your left hand lever in further? Is that to do with your dropper post lever?
That"coffee"sucks don't it. Best advice ever (clean your bike) definitely fiscally responsible
hey, Alex. i dont know what frame rate you run on your gopro but if it gets dark make sure to set it at 30fps that way it has more time to absorb light and it will look better
Still an amazing video!!! So stoked watching you guys hit that trail. Phil picks his nose... hahaha! #lfrhgs
haha I hadn't noticed that until today! He's diggin for nuggets
Nuggets with Phil... Skills with Phil is better, haha
Looks like Alex and Phil broke the internet :-)
Pretty sure we're taking this Starbucks internet DOWN XD
next week: ice biking!
cooking with phil? i would watch the huck out of that!
haha me and one of my friend to have that slowly leaking air back left tire. the slowly leaking back left tire phenomenon
