Not only was it a 15 hour drive to begin with, but I got out extremely late (11am) from Asheville because of work and generally packing. When I left I still didn't know what my plan was, but I knew that I had a friend I could crash with in NYC if needed (fellow biker friend).
As the day went on, the states began to pass, and the coffee was 'a flowin', I became more and more determined to just push for it and make it in one day.
Fifteen hours later I arrived at Phil's house around 5am, got some sleep, got acquainted with Phil and the digs, then immediately set out on our first ride at Drummer Hill, the first trails Phil ever rode on a mtb.
The local trail riding is SO DIFFERENT from what I am used to: wet, slow, and techy- I LOVED IT. I find this sort of riding challenging, and am very exited to improve my skills riding it.
This road trip is off to a fantastic start, and I hope you guys are STOKED for the episodes to come!!

Holy crap, that's like East coast loam! I can't wait to get up there and ride New England.
+Seth's Bike Hacks the dirt is primo 👌
Can't wait to have ya. Gotta get BKXC up in NH and I'll see all my heroes on the trails.
I live in New England so I am stoked that you guys are going to be local
it's so weird - I've enough of all of your videos that now i'm reading brian's and your comments and hear it in your voices lol
You guys should all come to Vermont! You've got to ride Kingdom Trails, Cady Hill and Pine Hill.
When I'm riding alone, and I do something sick, I imagine STS behind me yelling "Yeah Boy!"
I can't believe you pushed on right through the night! That's dedication man. It was clearly worth it!
haha it was a tough call, but I had just slammed a MASSIVE cup of coffee, so... that helped XD
Hats off to you, sir. If you ever decide to make the trip to western Canada (Alberta or BC) I'd love to set up a ride! Cheers man.
Dude driving for so long and getting up from like 5 hours sleep and then to shred like that shows your dedication to this channel! You're AWESOME!
I appreciate that SO MUCH. You better believe I'm committed to making this work and bringing you guys the FRESHEST vids weekly.
This is becoming addictive!!! Between the 4 of you, (BKXC, Seth, Single Track, Skills with Phil), I can’t stop watching!
I am always amazed at your level of positivity. Some people probably can't handle your energy I imagine but there's not anyone I know of who can't benefit from that level of positivity!
Nice!!! Some people are watching the Tour de France, when all I've been waiting for is Alex's Tour de New England!!! Keep it goin'!
Huck yea man! Who needs lycra and performance enhancing drugs anyway. Bikes 'n beers all the way! ;)
hahahaha absolutely 😂
Sadly, that's a pretty accurate way to put it lol
Ryan Schlagheck We
Classic New England trails. Thanks for coming to visit, and sharing once again.
Can't wait for my wife to see this!! She gets such a kick out of your videos!! As do I!!! Phil is amazing, I have never seen anyone ride like that. Great video Alex!!
Thanks Jerry! I'm right there with you man, Phil's riding is something to behold
I would say more in awe of riding with Phil, it's amazing to watch him just hop and jump over things with the slightest effort. I'm sure you will pick up some good tips riding with him.
I'm already learning so much! His riding is absolutely next level
super cool!!!! I've been waiting for this vid to start it off. can't wait for more, I can already tell this series will be siiiiicckkkk!!! the suspense will be killing me!!!
I've already peeped Phils next video, and you should be stoked!!
Man i love your vídeos and the positive energy you put into them, even more when it is super rare to see a person like that, Seth and Phil for instance they are absolutely awesome on their bikes, but the only one that can transmit the joy and enthusiasm you guys are having it is you! Keep it up Mtb Jesus, Cheers from Chile man! 🤘
There needs to be a collaboration with BKXC, Skills with Phil, Jordan Boostmaster, nate hills, IFHT, Singletrack Sampler, and Seth's Bike Hacks. It would be crazy!
Also Biking with Bobo
Dont forget Trail peek and Alex Chamberlin!!
YES!
What about GMBN?
They are too busy making cups of tea..
The sound dirt and hubs and bikes is what gets me to sleep every night. Love the sound of shred.
I see Phil's riding the new Evil pogo stick.
Ahahah!
Fun to watch Phil float over that techy stuff with such gracefulness. Nice riding yourself Alex!
Phil is like a big goofy gazelle just effortlessly leaping and bounding through the woods! It's rather mesmerizing to watch. I couldn't follow him on a ride because I would crash into everything just trying to watch him and figure out how he does it. so smooth and effortless....jealous...
Yeah, man! Great video, awesome friends, and SO much stoke going on. Those trails looked super fun, and I had a blast seeing you guys shred them.
I'm very happy about this opportunity, because riding with Phil and getting some coaching from him is sure to help you level up in the skills department, and your starting point is already high. Epic shredding shall be done!
NOT FIRST!!!!!!!111!!!11!
I was out of it!!! I was up at 3am waiting for Alexander to come in :P
hey!
Skills With Phil sick riding man!!!
lolol I was cracking up while editing about that
Phil, do it! Your South African fans demand it! There's at least 4 of us! FOUR! :D Love your videos man.
Holy !!!!!😲😜 that vertical-left-switchback maneuver from Phil at 13:26 was insane !!!! Great video
Love the vlog style of your videos. The pre ride/post ride and commentary keeps things interesting. Oh and the riding is sick too!
+chartered vessel thanks homie 👊
Awesome! I love seeing vids from my home state! Learned to MTB there on a 98 GT Ricochet.
You three make a great riding trio, stoked for this trip!
That boi Phil got some skills!
His name don't lie!
Man, best video so far!!! Nice to see Phil shredding in 3rd person! Thanks Alex!
+Mutant Bear's Biking Adventures thanks dude!
I live in New England so I am stoked that you guys are going to be local
Jarardo Shermack you have any idea what trail this is I live in new england also an want to check this out.
That trail looked amazing, and I know what it's like to follow riders that do stuff that just leaves you scratching your head. Phil seems to have that affect on a lot of other riders. He's like a pogo, and his timing on those little lips is incredible. That one hop he did to your right where he want off the rock, over the gap, landed on the other rock, and shot between those trees....SICKNESS! But...you held your own on that stuff, and I know from experience how much gnarlier that stuff is in person when it looks like that on the footage. ESPECIALLY when it is wet like that!
I CANNOT wait for more of this series, because like you, I get a kick out of seeing what nutty Phil is going to do next, and it's cool to see you picking up on his wackiness.
want to tell you something, when you ran alongside him with the camera 📷, 9:53.... awsome view! Very exciting view! More immersive! I know it's more work but is fun to watch! More please
+Eugene Soccer it was actually really fun, yet difficult to do as well, so thank you!
I know this is an old video but comparing this video to the new ones I can see your progression as a rider. I have learned a lot watching you guys. Keep the awesome videos coming!
These trails are what it's like riding out here in the UK 🇬🇧 regardless of the season! Wet, muddy, rooty & Rocky!
Awesome video!
We've had a crap-ton of rain this spring/early summer!
I grew up in New Hampshire but moved to Grand Junction after college where I picked up mountain biking. This inspires me to bring the bike back east and hit some of those trails! Awesome trails and rock features. Love your vids, keep up the good work Alex!
I caught some of y'alls live stream the other day. The fact I had Phil and Alex videos to look forward to never crossed my mind! I'm stoked! Even if it is hot as balls here in Georgia right now.
Freetown State Forest and Fall River Reservation in Southeast MA are in my back yard. Lots of rocks, roots, mud, loose rocks and riding between the trees. So many trails connected by fire roads, gas line and old gravel roads. A few bridges built by Dirt Bike Motorcycle clubs but also blow down trees to ride over etc. Dirt Bike Motorcycle club holds 150 mile Enduro race in the fall. You can ride different sections all week. Full Suspension bike earn their keep here. This video is a perfect representation of our home trails.
Since some new video's popped up I been trapped binge watching old video's in the evening and oh my you looked a lot more like Bike Jesus 4 years back 🤘🤘🤘
That was a really fun video!! Love to see you two hit the trails together. Keep it up brother 🤘
Great video man. I'm already missing the road trip 2017 collabs lol but videos like this are freaking nar 👌🏼 your awesome brother
I'm from Keene nh, and these are my local trails aswell. Very cool to see them featured on a channel like this! Thanks so much Alex! Awesome video
That's sick dude! You have some pretty cool trails my man
Gotta say Phil is the most skilled RUclipsr around!!!
Do it Phil! Alexander and Brian's videos are the best!
Awesome Beautiful Ride Alex!!!! I'm excited to watch more.
Ha! You and Phil together crack me up. That trail is exactly like my local trails in Connecticut. Awesome to see you guys ride my kind of terrain. The usual fast, flowy stuff I see makes me feel slow lol
Its always good to ride with people that have a different skillset than you. It "forces" you out of your comfort zone! awesome lines, i didn't realize there were trails like that in new england
I 100% agree, and also.... 100% agree! The riding is SO different too, it's awesome!
What a brilliant video. Alex & Phil represent the epitome of what mountain biking is about, can't wait for the next installment - hopefully on the "Orange"... (Made in Halifax, UK)
Great vid! I'm also glad i'm not the only one that has a Specialized Enduro with brakes that warble like that!
That was brilliant man. Seeing Phil in a different light and I like it!
+Reluctant Rider right!? The guy is an animal... Probably a kangaroo lol
The guy seems to get 6ft of air off a pebble on the ground. Amazing!
Hey Big Alex, it's great to see you back on the mtb trail slamming dirt ,rock's and roots hope to see you and perhaps ride with you some day when your in SoCal , ROCK AND ROLL
ONCE AGAIN.....AWESOME VID!!!!! Ive been dying to see ur vids of New England and not disappointed, lol. Phil is sick with those bunny hops!!!! Also, thank you for not throwing the F-Bomb, i was watching the video with my 4 year old and was a little afraid she was going to her something she not suppose to (that would be a long convo with the misses, lol).. KEEP IT UP BUD!!!!!!!!!!
whats sup dude! been a supporter of you for a long time, keep up the sick videos!
Hey dude, thanks for that!! Stoked you are enjoying the videos
Being form New England this terrain is pretty much all I know, love it, enjoy.
Those bolder drops were insane! Great video as always!
I can't wait for more you guys both inspire me to make videos
Rode Drummer Hill today with a buddy after watching your vid. Didn't even realize it's only an hour from me. Definitely going back. Crazy watching the POV then riding it yourself. Keep it up Sampler!
I'm pretty sure that Phil has springs in his legs!! Now I see why you guys were still soo excited in the live stream the other night.
Great video Alex can't wait to see the next ride out.....
AWESOME AWESOME RIDE ALEX. GREAT VIDEOS EVERYTIME NO BETTER WAY TO GET STOKED
"Salty chips are nice after a ride" he said as I was eating some delicious salty chips after my ride!
I've been watching Phil's channel for a while but didn't realize he was so good.
+NW Budro I kinda got the impression people didn't fully understand, so I'm taking it upon myself to show them!
Man, Phil is a machine....
Man phil knows how to make any ride killer. He has style.
Ah man, such style and grace. Nice ride, peeps!
Phil your loughter at 1:53 is sooo amazingly funny much wow very respect ! :D
Great ride dudes ! Your man Phil had the evil hopping around everywhere like a damn mountain goat ! good stuff men and lady !

Oh man it's amazing, he's so entertaining to watch
wow that was siiiiiiick!!! and congratulations on 42k 🤘🇨🇦
Seth, Brian, You're not Alex's idols anymore! He's Philing the love now ha ha ha ha
sick video Alex!! that trail is A-mazing, loved how it was techy but had great flow.
Dude, it's friggin puzzling how Phil Jumps all the time, it seems like he doesn't put any effort into doing bunny hop. I'm so open-mouthed, absolutely!!!
I laughed out loud at Phil eating tiger balm and thoughts of how weird it tasted, bizarre! Hahaha
Great riding!! Love watching Phil on the tech stuff; So smooth. When you coming to BC? TONS of great trails to show you.
That was pretty sick!! Super Pumped for the part of Redemption 17 the "New England Sampler" !!!! Keep up the stoke and remember to Live-Life-Loud!!! Ohh and Phil should start to vlog!!!!!
Phil is one of the best riders I have ever seen. Alex, your pretty good too!
Phil is hands down the best rider I've ever hit the trail with
Phil you're cool guy. Like how you welling to take anyone out for some fun even if he have to wait around.
awesome riding on the swtchbacks near the end of the video!
All the trails in Connecticut are just like these trails. You are very lucky all flow trails you get to ride
I'm disappointed in myself that I haven't watched all of these lol. Can't wait to see the new van project Alex!
Thanks to Phil, I can do endo turns from a track stand position. Still working on doing it on-the-go
Dude!! I'm stoked to hear that dude!
I am pretty stoked to know these type of trails exist in my home state! I just started MTB so I wont be doing those soon haha
Greetings from Spain!! I really enjoy watching your videos! You're an artist Alex!
Hey Fernando, thanks bro!! Greetings from across the big water my friend
Such a good video Alex keep up the great work!
Awesome vid, glad to know Phil is my neighbor since I am from Boston
Super video dude, a lot of similarities with some of my local trails (Kent, UK): lumpy, rooty and often wet. Looks ace!
Just by the First Video this is by Far the Best! guest appearance so far. Iv Been Fallowing Phil, for years on my old Channel and I Love his style of Videos Most... Have fun not that I have to Tell you...
oh yea, this road trip is going to be AMAZING!
4 sure Enjoy that Nice and cool weather as well..
Let the good vibes roll awesome video 🤙
Awesome video as usual! This looks a lot like the more natural trails in Michigan's upper peninsula, Benson grade stuff...
Yea these were super natural and uncut.
im digging this trail and to top it off, a pump track at the bottom. i could be here forever. 😂😂😂
Phil = mountain biking Ninja...
Alex = mtb'in Samurai...
Lookin forward to more vlogs =)
Great ride, nice trails, sick lines !
Something about Phil's giggle 🤣
Phil.does.have.skills. I had to pause on the widow-maker part a couple of times to figure out about what you were talking. I didn't know if you meant it as some MTB term, if there was a snake (on the GD plane), ... then I realized it was a large, upright tree or large branch just sitting on the rock. So you meant the same thing as I do in the woods. A large, loose branch up in the canopy that can be blown free, land on one's head and make one a widow.
Phil gets some serious hangtime .. 🦅
Hey Sick videos dude! Hope To See u hit a million soon
*fingers crossed*
Nice riding you two!!!
Another amazing video! I cannot wait till the next video comes out, you and Phil are hilarious and awesome... Hailey too. #LFRHGS
That was fun to watch!
welcome to new england, where the trails are rocky muddy and ohh yeah roots
I'm stoked!
looks like Pennsylvania riding, love the technical, rocky, rooty tails. Fast downhill can be fun but I live for our technical Northeast riding!
Hey you met Paras! Glad you enjoyed your first taste of the wet roots and rocks of NH.
Paras is the nicest person ever. He helped me film the Tokul video!
Yes, I have ridden with him a few times myself. I was betting that he'd appear in one of the vids with you and Alex.
That hat is definitely badass. I need one.
Great trail to learn on!
