Thanks Kevin, I do try to give the real world figures for as many of the car reviews as I do. I don't quote the makers figures because they are usually wrong. I will endeavor to quote the figures in all future videos
Toyota has been at the top in terms of reliability and quality over the past decade. Toyota's recalls have been spotlighted for the past 5-6 years and let's not forget the gas pedal case turned out to be a sham and after a year of investigation NASA came up with zero indications of faulty electronics. And let's not forget statisticly worldwide, the Prius has the least amount of faults in it's class.
Will you please for all thats holy, give the consumption figure in Miles per gallon or Kilometers per litre like the rest of Europe does. Apart from that you present some of the best real world car reviews I have ever seen. You are to be congratulated.
One thing you didn't talk about was that ride quality. It looked very jittery from that video, like you were being bounced around a fair bit. Great videos all the same though. I love your down to earth, relaxed style.
Totally agree, actually FIAT has had 0 specific recalls regarding models. And from the last sondage on Quattro Ruote (one of the biggest european car review company) FIAT has one of the happiest customer base in the world currently. Plus, we are not in the 1980s anymore FIAT and all Italian car makers have really stepped up a notch on build quality, its not [F]ix [I]t [A]gain [T]ony era anymore :P
I'd go with . . . actually I went with a Mazda 2 instead : ) Your review pushed me over the edge between the veloster and the mazda 2. You're right though, there are so many small hatches out there now. Hard to choose.
Quality is all about mainly how your workers diligent with products. If company is top-notch and built it somewhere who cares if I got done what I did for a day then products will be shitty.
In my opinion you are the most trusted reviewer.Trusting your judgement i have one question for you: Is it wise to give up on my Seat Ibiza FR Dsg for a Toyota Yaris HSD, just on fuel economy reasons? Is it right to sacrifice sheer driving delight in order to save, in long terms, some euros in my pocket? What's your perspective on my dilemma?
@Smokerspack holy crap, for the price of that in the US you can get a well equiped golf with a 2.5L . . . I have always wondered about why vehicle prices are so vastly different, but from what I hear it's not only the cars. It's pretty funny to watch people over here complain about gas. If only they googled how much it was over seas. . . . we pay about .8 euros per liter
I don't understand the prices, now I bought a fiat punto in Italy for 15000 euro with automatic gearshift, mp3 radio, automatic AC, 7 airbags, a million other things, and all that on a 1.4liter engine. How on earth is this Yaris the same price with a 1 liter engine and very little optionals? Are prices so steep in Ireland compared to Italy? If its just a toyota thing, they really went along way from the first yaris which was cheap but good.
I did sell my mk5 gti stage 1 dsg with 44000 km on the clock and will buy 2014 yaris. I can buy 2 Yaris for the money I ve got now, much cheaper to own in every aspect... and it does 0-50 in about 3 seconds =)
@JuggleAddict I wish I paid .8 euro per liter, in Italy (most expensive fuel in the EU currently) it has nearly reached 2 euro per liter on petroil... precisely 1.82 on average...On my MiTo QV I end up spending 100 euro a week on fuel (yes I am a petroilhead I like pushing those gears) hell of alot of money! Would be less then 50eu with your fuel price hehe
@mmgironi Ireland has the greatest rip off in the world, VRT or Vehicle Registration Tax. It drives the prices up on our cars because we have VAT as well so Irish prices always seem high...bloody Government
i've had my fiat punto for over 7 years now and I still havent seen a mechanic. On the other hand my friend with a 2005 Yaris has had problems with the brakes the gear box and the oil filter. How on earth you'd prefer a 1.0 litre over a 1.4 litre on the basis of "quality" (which really is a joke cause a toyota is just as plasticy as a french or italian car) is behiond me. By the way, I don't know when you last had a FIAT but we are in 2012 not 1980s the build quality has went up quite a notch.
Toyota does fix the f*ckups.. the germans and italians let you suffer and pay for it.. The reliability is top notch.. something that the EU car builders will never pull off.. That said ; the steep pricing is a shame..
I hav to say toyota they make the blandest cars on the market people who buy toyotas obviously didnt look at the competition because if they did they would see the competition iz a lot more stylish and the interior has what people call soft touch plastics something i dont think toyota have grasped people dat buy toyotas in my opinion dont like cars they just want something to get them there great review as always sorry bout my little rant der :-P
I had a 93 Ford Festiva 1.3 for 10 years, i used to get 40 mpg city and 46-48 highway, they need to bring back that car

Can you review the Alfa Romeo MiTo twin-air when it comes out. Should be an interesting car that...
Great Reviews! Just a question for you, between the Toyota Yaris and the Mazda 2, which one would you prefer? why? thanks!

@ThePetrolhead94 But they are still in the top three every year! Feel free to rant, I like a good rant too
@00kirbyd I'm sure she would have loved it too!

superb car, the Yaris is back !
thanks!! Congrats for the reviews, you are doing a good work! (and I like the Irish accent with words as "bush" "thash" for but and that hahaha)
Can I just jump in here and say, Toyota have had more recalls and big court cases in the last ten years than Fiat have had.
give way for next gen Jazz/Fit. simply the king of subcompacts.
outside looks small but inside very big. feels like driving a bus or truck.
Mazda 2 because it's got a personality and a prefer the looks
if toyota have only given this a full effort... C'mon toyota give what the people want, not what investors want.
I drove one, didn't like the MASSIVE blindspot over your left shoulder
