    Another lovely painting, Diane. This was certainly a lesson on what small amounts of dark can do in watercolor. I was about to scold you for letting Arthur cry, but undoubtedly mama does know best!

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  3 года назад

      Thanks Angie! Yes, mama does. He is the most spoilt and indulged kitten you could wish for. T and I have dedicated more hours to that kitten than all the others we ever had put together! As I type, we are both sitting with him playing with him at 10pm so he goes to bed happy and tired!! I wish you could cuddle him, he’s adorable. I’m putting a video up on our Facebook Learn to Paint Watercolor group tonight to bring you up to date with him!

    Very, very pretty, Diane! The painting is so relaxed and loose I think anyone could paint these flowers. Great idea using your dip pen to add definition to your leaves, too. Considering you used a student grade, cellulose paper, I think it held up really well. The key is to not use too much water to keep it from buckling, as you said. Thank you for the flower sketch, as well.

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  3 года назад

      That paper is very good. I don't think 100% cotton paper is easy to paint on, certainly some of the really expensive ones are horribly absorbant and difficult. Saunders for example. I recommend Etival, Bockingford and Langton as the best for beginners. And if you stretch it you will never have any buckling no matter how much water you use. See this video if you haven't stretched paper before: ruclips.net/video/PyAgoP_uaWY/видео.html

      I wish I could give him to you to cuddle Susan! He’s not bad really, just a typical kitten! I don’t like the mess of charcoal either - you could try charcoal pencils if you like. It’s such a pleasure to draw with, that’s the thing, it’s worth the mess!
