    I love this painting. My Nan in England would have loved it. I was born there in Ringwood but have lived in Canada since 1960 when I was 5. My Nan loved flowers and was always looking for a space to put them. I love how you seem to bring the florals to life. My favorite thing is wash and ink . I have ordered a set of pens and ink to try out

      Glad you enjoyed it! 1977 I was living in Sevenoaks that year and my daughter Tamsin was born the year after. When I was a kid in the 50s we used to go as a family from London to Margate for a day out at the seaside. I remember the "huge" beach and the burning sun and the scary sea - and the Big Wheel at the fairground next to the beach that I wasn't allowed to go on because I was too small! Those were the days!

    Diane, there is so much I love about this tutorial. Since this is a painting tutorial, I'll begin by saying you really made the painting of hydrangeas achievable. I have some growing in my garden, so I'll do as you demonstrated and examine the structure of the petals and leafs so I can see all of the details. While I really like the ink outline on some things, I'm happy you decided to leave it off on this painting. It's got such a soft vintage look just the way it is. The subtle splatters are a really nice touch. I'm excited to give it a go! Wow...seeing your lovely outdoors is a sight to behold. Your dogs are beauties, and watching Lottie crawl out of the sheep's area was the cutest. I also love all of the animal sounds in the background, along with the relaxing music. What a paradise! Thank you for sharing.

      Oh, thank you so much Carolyn! You always make my day with your lovely comments! I'm glad you liked the way I painted the hydrangeas. I always prefer to simplify if I can - "essence of hydrangea!" So glad you enjoy the dogs too - they are adorable but Lottie is a terrible pickle!!! Thank you for all your support :) x

    Hi! I just found your channel and I am so inspired. I usually paint in intense colors with acrylic paint so delicate watercolors are challenging for me. But thats ok to be challenged I found it makes you a better artist. I decided to do a drawing a day for a year and post it on Facebook to keep me honest, lol! It is intimidating to post for all to see especially in the beginning when I was so terrible, hehe. But I am really in awe that you do a real time painting everyday on YT. I've always wanted to start my own YT channel but was so intimidated by the idea so you are a real inspiration to me. I have learned so much about watercolors from you that I actually enjoy it now. I think watercolors are so much more difficult than acrylics. For one it is that opposite in that you start with the lights and put more to make the darks. I'm so used to starting with the dark colors and adding the light at the end. Not sure if I am making sense here, but that is what I was doing wrong with watercolors. My paintings always came out to dark and ugly, but thanks to you and your real time videos I have actually improved quite a bit. So thank you again for all your efforts and skills. BYW I love love love your adorable pet segments. Penny from California.

    • @DianeAntoneStudio
      @DianeAntoneStudio  2 года назад

      Hi Penny, thanks so much for your thoughtful comments. Of course you are making perfect sense in what you say about starting light and ending with the darks in watercolor. In fact, one of the things that watercolor beginners often do which makes their paintings less convincing is to forget to put in dark enough darks at the end. I'm so glad you are enjoying watercolor, which is definitely my favourite medium, mostly because of its unpredictability, which often results in a painting better than you could have planned! Hope you continue to enjoy and be inspired by our videos! Happy painting!

    I love it!!❤️. This is one of my favorite flowers. (Among my many favorites) We have several bushes, pink, blue and purple although, they sometimes change colors…pinkish ble, purplish pink…we never know. I guess it has to do with the soil?? I love the loose way you’ve painted them. I’ve painted them more realistic but I think your way is so much prettier. It leaves something for the imagination. I’ve had a hard time loosening up, but painting with you has helped so much. The colors you have used….perfect. I found a couple of little white plastic bowls, which I will roughen up a little and then put in my (your) most used colors. I love the way you can mix the colors in these bowls. Have you ever painted rocks? Maybe a stream with rocks (or boulders), some trees? A waterfall? Hmmm, that might be pushing it..lol. I love water scenes or trees in the woods, but anything you decide to paint, you can be sure I’ll be watching. I can’t wait to paint these flowers….and thank you for putting in the dragonfly! Can’t have a “Diane “ painting without a bee, butterfly or dragonfly! I have to admit, dragonflies are my favorite ❤️ . I can’t tell you how many I’ve painted since I watched you painting them! Again, thank you for taking the time out of your day, always coming up with some terrific ideas, and for sharing them with us. I so look forward to seeing what you’ve posted and love chatting with you.❤️. (I’ll be looking for your dragonfly that you’ve printed out…he is so beautiful , and to have a print of yours…that would be awesome! Where would I find this?). Hugs to you and your daughter …and your dogs❤️. Cuddles to your sheep and loves to your cat…. Not sure , but maybe petting to your chickens??? Nell

      @DianeAntoneStudio  3 года назад +1

      Hi Nell, I can’t resist replying to your lovely message although I should be asleep by now since it’s gone midnight here! So glad you like the hydrangeas - they aren’t the easiest of flowers to paint I must admit! And I wasn’t sure about the paper I was using either but it turned out okay in the end. There’s always something unexpected with watercolour and I’m always thrilled when a painting is worthy of being in a video! I’m glad it’s helping you out to see how I do it. I’m sure you will find using the little dishes for your main colours will really help you a lot. Sometimes I have two with the same colour in - for example Quinacridone gold - I might have two of them - one to mix with blues and one to mix with red so they don’t get mixed up. This works quite well. Yes, I have done rocks and waterfalls and other kinds of landscapes. I was planning to do some of those as the summer draws to a close and the autumn comes in, when it feels more appropriate somehow. I’m looking forward to painting autumn trees, and other autumnal things like blackberries and rosehips and pheasants! I do feel as if It’s right to stick with the seasons. We do have prints available - and members of the channel can have a 50% discount on the regular price. That brings them down to about $15 including shipping to the states. They are on the website, although we can do most paintings from the tutorials as well as all the ones which are on the website. Have you had a look at Dianeantone.com? If you need help finding them just give me a shout! Well once again thanks very much for chatting, and I have to say goodbye now before I fall asleep with the phone in my hand! Have a great remainder of the day and speak to you soon!xxx

    I just figured out that I am my own worst enemy. I always thought hydrangeas were to hard for me to tackle. The way you broke it down helped it to click for me. I have been practicing adding blue to my quinacridone gold and l9ve the results. It is much easier than mixing and them applying. You are the best Diane!
