One of the great cello concertos. So fresh, original and beautiful - one of England's great works. A total mystery to me as to why it hasn't been picked up by others. Gustaffson is also one of the great contemporary cellists - a poet of the cello.
An amiable, romantically inclined concerto this, with lovely opening measures, a touchingly nostalgic "adagio", and a good-humored finale with uniquely inspired "skittering" sections encased in a meditative cadenza, having somewhat the effect of a scherzo and trio. The performance sounds as if it does full justice to this very enjoyable work.

Yup. Good stuff. Should be in every cellist's repertoire (after all, they aren't exactly spoilt for choice!). Thanks for posting.
