I keep looking for new works to listen to. Thanks to RUclips I keep finding them. I didn't expect to find so many good ones. This is another one. The ones I like I add to my collection of favorite symphonies so I can visit them. The list keeps growing. I found that if a work gets to RUclips it is pretty good. I may never really get back to listening to the ones I have saved because of the new ones I find. My musical symphonic listening cup over flows.
This symphony is truly a forgotten gem that should be played much more often. I love it deeply! Tempus fugit 6:13 and Nostalgia 10:47 are unforgettable...
A great orchestral work in 20th century. "In memory of a great composer", means Shostakovich. Altogether this is a masterpiece. Listen in the Finale, when the solo violin fades in the end to the sad darkness... I recommend for every music lover Englund's symphonies, especially numbers 1-4 - even if all the seven are very good. He was one of the great Finnish composers. They could be listed here: Sibelius, England, Rautavaara, Sallinen and Aho.
Rich melodic speech, harmonies breathtaking orchestration constantly renewed in the use of the stamps of the orchestra, in short a Babylonian sound architectures erected by humble and impetuous composers 🤓

nice
A pleasing symphony, with some nice effects in the percussion. (Did I hear a theremin in the mix?) Not a great work perhaps, but a fine one.
