    Thanks; loosening the handle was all I needed!!

      Yeah the trick is to loosen it just enough that it will come back up after you flush. Sometimes it take a few tries to get it just right.

      @@ThatHobby Thanks, I had previously replaced it with a metal handle with a metal interior rod, but white corrosion (maybe from a toilet tank bleach disk I recently found and put in there) or minerals from our hard water had accumulated around the nut. It was almost like it was welded in place...

    Those Mansfield flushing assemblies were recommended to me some years back. Made in USA...so I'm in.
    turns out I bought a pallet of tanks at an auction once....each tank had that assembly. Paid $20 for the whole pallet. I do like auctions. tHanks for the video

    I bought the handle with the metal arm and it works fine. Our problem is that the tower closes too fast for a full flush. If I hold the handle down I can get a full flush. I’m trying to find a fix for that. Also, the hose will pop out of the hole randomly. So we tried taping it to the top but the tape doesn’t stick when it gets wet. Any suggestions?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  5 месяцев назад +1

      The hose could be worn out. They can get a little stretched out over time. So you may just need a new hose. As far as the flush goes the newer toilets will have buttons with 2 flush options. One is a fast flush and the other is a full flush. I think these older toilets are the same way you get a quick flush when you flush it and a full flush when you hold down the handle.

    What style of flapper would you call this because I see the plunger & chain style is most common, the one in the video is what I have it’s not to common.

      It is a Mansfield toilet flush valve. This one is white though so it may be a Lasco toilet flush valve. If you are leaking water it could be your flush valve seal. I just made a video about it. Not sure if this will help or not? Here is the link. ruclips.net/video/30DWbgut4lA/видео.html

    One more thing to check, which may be more in cases in apartment complexes, is that the tank lever is the correct style for your tank. The maintenance workers of this 200+ unit complex that I live in installed the wrong one on my tank and so it pressed against the inside of the tank and got stuck when in the up position. The temporary fix for me was to loosen the handle nut way beyond what it should be. This allowed the handle to pivot in the xy direction, which prevented the lever from being pressed into the inside wall of the tank.

      Great point. I have had that happen to me too. The plastic handle rod broke on our tank and when I went to replace it all I could find was the longer one and it caused some sticking issues. So I had to loose the handle to get it to work.

    I loosened the nut and it's still getting stuck. It's a brand new handle and was a tad bit too long. I shortened it so I could slide it through, but it keeps getting stuck. Please help!

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  2 месяца назад

      If you have tried loosening the nut as much as you can and it's still stuck it could be the plastic arm. They also make a metal one with a much thinner arm. I was going to try that one. The amazon link is in the video description.

    Hey? What is holding the camera so steady?

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  Год назад +2

      That was kind of tricky. It was a tight space and I couldn't fit a tripod in the bathroom. But there was a shelf above the toilet so I ended setting my phone on the edge of the shelf with the camera lens facing down to my work area. I wouldn't recommend it. I have dropped a few of my phones and broke them trying to film stuff like that. I got a GoPro and have been trying to use it more but my phone fit just right on the shelf so went with it.

    The flapper won't stop running??? 🤔

    • @ThatHobby
      @ThatHobby  Год назад

      Yeah that is common problem too. They sell the flappers individually. So you can just buy that part. They can crack, shrink or warp over time and will stop sealing.
