Had the pleasure of visiting Fairfax last year and seeing her WC winning bike in the museum. Beautiful town and good friendly vibes all around. Wish Kate all the best this season with the new team.

First of all, I love this series and Kate is a treasure. That being said, when they said that her being 22 and winning championships is inspiring, it actually makes me think about how I'm 32 and I'm winded after the smallest amount of climbing. Hahaha, I want to see a 50-year-old winning championships.

Kate you are an inspiration to everyone. Having finished a college degree at Stanford U at that and being world champion in women's mountain bike is a lifelong achievement not every athlete can achieve. Keep up the good work. Been following how hard you train and how your family supports you, including your dog.

Got a kick seeing the Softride suspension stem on the museum Ritchey bike that Hank Djernis rode to victory in I believe the 1st World Championship at Vail, Colorado. He had a young teammate, Thomas Frischknecht if I remember. I still have a Softride on my Diamondback Axis TT that I raced in the 90's. We're proud of the American gals tearing up the World Cup so far this year!

Moral of the story, if you take your kids outside and get into nature, if you make them curious about the world, they'll be ok.

Pablo Horteg: So true. I have lived for the outdoors. I grew up in the city. My parents weren’t outdoors types at all. But I always had a strong and endless desire to be in nature. My first professional career was as a wilderness forest ecologist. My kids grew up backpacking, whitewater kayaking, skiing and snowboarding, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, hunting and fishing, mountain biking... The tribes of kids and families we’ve met who pursue these adventures with lust - especially the whitewater kayaking and mountain biking communities - live better. Are better. Almost uniformly the kids are happy, successful, healthy, love life. They do well in school. Are fit. Aren’t plump, pale basement rats playing video games 6 hours a day. Aren’t druggies. Don’t suffer from the endless list of new mental illnesses so popular with much of society.

Awesome video. It's certainly a *massive* plus if you live at the foot of a mountain, or even a hill... or even within twenty miles of one.. Where I live it's so flat and the only place you can ride is on the road 😞 It doesn't stop me getting my mtb out but I know I'd be a much better rider if I could use my skills more often.

Can we have a video on what her father does for a living, where he went to school, what he went to school for, how many hours/week he worked, his advice for people who want to get to where he is. Because I would watch that because I'm finishing my 2nd degree in IT, done grad school have been first in last out the door at work since I was 16, working weekends and I'm getting nowhere after more than a decade.

her roots are pretty simple. rich girl from Marin County. what is kind
of ironic. most of those trails she rode on up at Mt. Tam are now off
limits to mountain bikes. One can thank the rich woke liberals of Marin
    County for that.
