What do you like to eat before training and racing? There is a lot of talk of intermittent fasting. with no food prior to training. But that may not be the best strategy for long and hard rides. There's always that quest for good fuels which will carry you through the event without digestion issues or running out of energy.

0:33 The 'half-hour window' idea has been shown to be false. You just need to consume so much protein per lb or kg of bodyweight every so many hours; the body can't process protein any more quickly and doesn't do so just because your metabolism has risen.
Of course, it's nice to have a reward after a ride or training, but it makes no difference if you consume it straight after exercise if you're eating protein regularly throughout the day.
